  1. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:54 AM) AJ doesn't get as much hate because he has been rock solid defensively and calls a great game for our pitching staff. I'm sure others here would actually like to have him hit and not have, which will probably be, the worst offensive year of his career (unless he really goes Joe Mauer on us from here on out) not to mention having a very low BABIP, but A.J. is not a big problem (+0.5 WAR) at all even with all that and he serves a purpose. I cannot say the same thing about Mark Kotsay other than playing a good 1B every once in a while when Konerko is off. Ozzie talks about flexibility from him... then why hasn't he been in the OF that much, and when he is, why is he so terrible? If you are going to be terrible on the field, at least be good with the bat (and vice-versa) and if Ozzie wants flexibility, a guy only playing one position is not his guy when you have guys like Jones, Lillibridge and Teahen who will and have played multiple. (though brutal defensively, at least gives you a solid bat and has to play cause of salary) Hell even Dayan can play 1B/3B. A.J. BRSP% (baserunner scoring percentage) 14% PA less than 2 out baserunners scored: 42% PA runner on second and runner advances: 55% GIDP rate and into: 18% 10 (333 PA) 2 outs and RISP: .344/.447/.563/1.010 Late and close: .188/.220/.333/.553 Overall RISP: .260/.321/.384/.705 Kotsay BRSP% (baserunner scoring percentage) 10% PA less than 2 out baserunners scored: 46% PA runner on second and runner advances: 52% GIDP rate and into: 16% 8 (253 PA) 2 outs and RISP: .160/.222/.360/.582 Late and close: .133/.278/.167/.444 Overall RISP: .148/.281/.315/.596 It's amazing what your eyes don't see, isn't it? A.J.'s actually been quite good with RISP and 2 outs.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) Pierre showing some power. 1-0. I have great predictive powers.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) cst_sox Kotsay must have used all his luck on his wife. Bahahaha.
  4. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) Why Cabrera isn't in the 3rd spot is a mystery to me. That is even dumber than batting Kotsay 5th....wait maybe not. Having Cabrera in the 4th spot is a good idea. I'm just saying batting a nobody in the third spot in front of Cabrera is a terrible idea.
  5. Maybe Leyland shouldn't bat a nobody in the third spot, that might be a good idea...
  6. Quentin, lol. Get him out of right field, please.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) Crap, you're right, somehow B-R highlighted one group of games and gave me different stats. That's weird, never seen that screw up before. His real numbers since May 1....284 average, .357 OBP. Hey, those are actually better than what he did last year.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) Juan Pierre since May 1: .298 average, .347 OBP. Hey, those numbers look like the ones from 2009...
  9. 2-0. Imagine if A.J. had walked. Ugh.
  10. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) On Yahoo they called it Shallow Right...so is that supposed to be green? Or is shallow right power for Pierre? He got a double, that's power for him.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) Yes, you were right...he's been horrible..I saw a regression to some degree...but he's just completely fallen off the earth. To be honest, I didn't expect a regression to this degree either. At this pace, he's going to be a .280 hitter if he's lucky. I thought he was at least going to hit .290.
  12. I was hoping A.J. would walk there, guess not.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Is this the first time we've seen AJ bat 8th this year? Ozzie finally realized that splitting up A.J. and Kotsay was probably a good idea.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) I see Boesch's numbers are coming down to earth. Wasn't he in the .330s not long ago? Regression to the mean at its finest. I think I had a discussion with Shack about this when he was hitting .330.
  15. D'Angelo Jimenez is spelled wrong in there. With that, I got 150.
  16. Let's go undefeated on this road trip.
