  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) I don't understand why he wouldn't pitch on Tuesday. He probably should... He last pitched on the 28th. Pitching on Tuesday would give him more than 5 days off.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) So you disagree with him. That doesn't make him clueless. So you don't think his applauding of this deal for the Dodgers is ridiculous?
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) Do you really believe that? I know it's fashionable and all to rip on everyone who actually works in the industry, but I wouldn't characterize the guy as "clueless." You do know there are other parts of the game other than advanced metrics, right? Saying that the Dotel deal is a good and fair trade can definitely be classified as clueless. And yes, I'm well aware, but Olney is one of those guys who flat out rejects sabermetrics. So of course, I wouldn't see eye to eye with him.
  4. Danks had a Javy Vazquez-like start. It was one bad inning that did him in.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Jeez, Andruw playing some terrible defense in this inning. No chance to catch that Stone cause he ran back on it. Yup, bad read.
  6. WTF? 3 of those pitches to Ellis were strikes.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) I don't know much about the prospects but Buster Onley doesn't seem to think they gave up that much FWIW. Buster_ESPN Observation: Love what the Dodgers did before the deadline. They clearly helped the team without giving up a lot.#trades Buster Olney is clueless. He's one of those "traditionalists".
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) The only flaw is that it involves Mark Kotsay losing at-bats, which won't happen. I'm trying to ignore that right now. At some point, Kenny has to point out that Mark Kotsay sucks to Ozzie and tell Ozzie to stop playing him.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) Well in my scenario, you can DH Carlos and put Teahen in RF on days he plays (which is the majority of the time since he plays against righties). That's the best you can do with keeping Carlos out of the field for the rest of this year, he has to be out there against lefties. Combining the two plans would work.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) I've seen strong evidence to tell me the pimp can crush lefties. And Mark has an .820 OPS against righties this year. I am in favor of the platoon. I'm more in favor of Carlos DHing full time though.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) When does Teahen come back again? If Kotsay is DFA'd when that happens and Viciedo is on the team, at least I'd have reason to think our team has some semblance of logic about it's everyday players. Soon I hope. I'd like to see him in right field.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) and no home runs That's the good thing about Jackson. His high ground ball rates fit this park and this team very well. With our infield having 3 plus defenders in Alexei, Omar, and Beckham on most nights, it will really help Jackson.
  13. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) August 30th is the deadline. Why can't people f***ing understand this? We needed pitching before at bat when Peavy went donw. Going through waivers while your team is in first place is going to be hard as hell. Manny Ramirez might be the only possibility since he has so much money left on his deal. If we have to send any players back in a deal, that'd make it even harder since they would also have to clear waivers.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) I still think this team has a shot. Jackson has the ability to be a pretty good pitcher and I feel we have a strong defense and strong bullpen. If the bats are hot at the right time this team could win it all. But I like Danks/Floyd/Jackson more than some. And we all know I am Floyds biggest fan. I think Floyd is one of the best starters in all of baseball. There are a lot of numbers that say this is the case.
  15. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) F*** you Rizzo I hope you get stuck with Dunn next year when he accepts arb. For 16 mil. Although this is very disapointing, hopefuly we get something through waivers without givig up much. EJax does make us a better team though. But I'm disappointed. It's okay, take out your anger on Mike Rizzo with this... http://memegenerator.net/Incredibly-Frustrating-GM
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) We got Jackson because we wanted Jackson. I say this after every trade KW makes that looks bad but has someone suggesting "wait, this is just part of a larger deal!" If Jackson was even likely to go to Washington, the Sox wouldn't have made the deal, they'd have waited and tried to make it a 3 way deal that gets sent to the Commish. You don't complete the first deal unless you want the guy in the first deal, because the final deal can always fall apart. That's what I mean, for the hell of it as in they wanted Jackson himself.
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) More on #WhiteSox, conflicts with previous tweet: Source says #Nationals have not made counter-offer on Dunn "in days." Truth at 4 pm! - Rosenthal Wow, so we just got Jackson for the hell of it?
  18. Just in case Rizzo robs us or leaves us with no Adam Dunn... http://memegenerator.net/Incredibly-Frustrating-GM Have fun.
  19. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) per Cot's contracts: He has two more years of arb left.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) That is fantastic. Any way you can digitally place a cucumber in his mouth? Too much work. If you feel creative...http://memegenerator.net/Incredibly-Frustrating-GM
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Maybe it's us? =D I bet that we've inquired about just about everyone... seems like Kenny is in super insane mode like never before. There is hope!
  22. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) So all we need is a time machine? Time travel is possible, ya know.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Again, you want Luke Scott up there in the Postseason rather than Manny? Looking forward as in 2011 and beyond. Manny's $15 million in deferred money worries me.
  24. I'd rather have Luke Scott than Manny, looking forward.
