7/11 - Royals @ Sox
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Same with Gavin for me. He started his insane tear the day I dropped him. I picked up Gordon Beckham in my Yahoo league, he has since raised his batting average by 5 points and hit a home run. Do I get a prize? lol

You gotta wonder why Dayton Moore goes and signs s*** players like Jason Kendall when he has a pretty good hitting catcher in Bryan Pena.

Is TCQ back?
Yes, he is back. I don't care if he did it off of Scott Kazmir, Anthony Lerew, and some other scrubs. The April/May Q wouldn't have done any of that.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) So, is Quentin an acceptable named for a white kid? Only if he is Italian.
-
7/11 - Royals @ Sox
Carlos Quentin's OPS is approaching .870.
-
7/11 - Royals @ Sox
The funny thing is that Carlos should probably have at least 3 home runs in this game. But I'll definitely take the 2!

My god. I remember talking about how Q might be an all-star if he continued to hit like he did in the Cubs series. What do you know? He's almost got 20 bombs.

TCQ, you are f***ing back and f***ing ridiculous!

They're loaded for TCQ.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) So could Griffey, that doesn't mean he's a CF. Career -9.4 UZR/150 in CF, where he's spent most of his time. He is definitely a very poor defensive CF He's not as bad a hitter as he's been this year, but I don't think he's worth taking a flyer on. Even if his BABIP evened out and got back to his career norms, he's due to make 6.5 million next year with a team option for 10.65 in 2012, and I'm not sure that he's worth it. The only way I'd really consider it is if Linebrink were involved, and even then, I don't think I'd do it. That's only after 2002 though, where his legs were pretty much done. Griffey was a great CF in his prime, at least Total Zone says so.

Victor Marte in. Come on Alex and Q, go deep again.

9-5. Good enough Omar.
-
7/11 - Royals @ Sox
Come on Omar, take a walk and make it 9-5.
-
7/11 - Royals @ Sox
Nice walk by Pierre. Here's Omar. BTW, we're tied for first now.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) This was not his first major league start. First start of the season. He will still have the butterflies.

There we go Gordo. Good day.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) four defensive DP's by Sox is a good thing Three offensive DPs is also a bad thing, lol.

This is one of the best defensive outfields in baseball we're looking at today. If Jones ever gets it together again, I'd like to see this setup more often.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Or a late bloomer. Slugged over .500 in AA last year and close to .600 in about half that many abs this year. I always defer to your statistical knowledge Qwerty, but I've seen enough of this kid to think that the light's either gone on all the sudden or he made some sort of adjustment which took him from no one to legitimate ROY candidate. This really has been the year of the late blooming outfielder with Boesch and Colvin.

Tony Pena loves throwing double play balls.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) thank you. He's also facing the best hitting team in the league. It's only because they hit a lot of singles. They're far from being the best offense in baseball.

I hope the Royals trade Jose Guillen to some NL team.
-
7/11 - Royals @ Sox
Oh come on, relax. Hudson has good stuff. Making your first start of the season isn't something to just wave off. He was obviously over throwing and wasn't ocating the ball today.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Yeah, that's a bit odd, to hit for that high of an average without a lot of line drives. He must be hitting the ball very hard is all I can say. You don't slug .600 without hitting a lot of ground ball doubles, or a lot of deep gappers and home runs. That's the only explanation. Thing is, you can't always direct who you hit the ball at.
