These back up sliders to righties are not good pitches.

He finally got a swing and miss on the fastball.

Kopech's slider goes right into lefties' bat path when he throws it low. He's gotta make sure it's more of a back foot slider instead of it being at the bottom of the strike zone.

Kopech's peripherals are straight up concerning. Tyler Wells, who also was a reliever last year and transitioned into a starter this year, is having a much better time with the change than Kopech. And Kopech was a much better prospect than Wells.

Kopech is afraid to throw Polanco strikes.

His slider had problems last year too, especially in the 2nd half. Remember when Cleveland basically didn't swing at his slider in that game they got 7 runs off Kopech last year?

Was the plan to only use Kopech for 3 innings? Is that why his fastball is playing up?

That was a great slider and Buxton laid off. Sometimes you have to wonder if the hitters know it's coming.
