  1. It really is a miracle how that team ended up winning 90 games. Their lack of hitting really screwed them in that last series with the Angels. They could have won that first game had they just hit some sac flies.
  2. The contents of this post are meaningless and is just superstitious bullshit, but... Lance Lynn during Fox broadcasts this year: 15 IP, 19 H, 16 ER, 19 SO, 3 BB, 4 HR, 9.60 ERA, 1.46 WHIP Lance Lynn during Fox broadcasts with AJ Pierzynski in the booth: 10 IP, 12 ER, 10.80 ERA.
  3. If Lynn can look like he did against the Red Sox in his first start back from the IL, I think we'll be fine. If his knee is still bothering him and messing with his command, we may be in for a long game 1.
  4. I was wondering what Bill Belichick had to do with this.
  5. This is true. If they're thinking about Lynn for game 4, I get it. Although Carlos has to be topping out at 90 MPH for that to happen IMO. Carlos' last real good start where he flashed good velo was against Boston. I think when push comes to shove, he'll still be able to get it up there. But I doubt he can go any longer than 4 or 5 innings. Also, Lance's numbers against Houston are a legit concern the past 2 seasons. 2019 - 28 IP, 3.54 ERA, 8 HR, 6 BB, 39 SO 2020 - 11.2 IP, 11.57 ERA, 5 HR, 4 BB, 12 SO 2021 - 4 IP, 13.5 ERA, 0 HR, 1BB, 6 SO I will say that the start this year was right before the sticky ban and it was pretty clear that Lance was pitching without pine tar/spider tack for the first time in a while that start. He struggled massively with location and got tagged by Robel Garcia with the bases loaded.
  6. Not sure I like Lynn possibly going twice this series, both in Houston, where he has historically struggled. Lucas' numbers against Houston since 2019 are amazing. I know Lynn has way more playoff experience, but his numbers in the postseason aren't that good.
  7. Abreu did sit out with some sort of non COVID illness on the last day. I doubt they'd leave him off the roster for that though.
  8. Cole looking more like Dylan Cease tonight than Gerrit Cole.
  9. Bogaerts had been hitting like crap too. Cole just hasn't been dominant since the hamstring injury.
  10. Bogaerts takes Cole deep.
  11. Damn we might announce a game thread starter before the Sox announce the game 1 starter.
  12. Obviously walked off in the WS. Avi is a good player now, I got no hate for him. Getting swept by the Astros would suck ass.
  13. Brian Goodwin hitting clean up sure is something. My only concern is that the guys we've gotten back since his starts (Eloy and Robert) don't do well against guys with good sliders like McCullers. If McCullers is on and executes his pitches, we're going to have a hard time hitting him. That being said, Lucas has 2 complete games against the Astros in his last 2 starts against them with 1 run allowed, so some Astros fans might be thinking the same thing.
  14. Hey the nerds are on our side for once!
  15. You'll see a whole page of "take him out" or "FUCK" and the Sox will be leading 5-1.
  16. Astros going McCullers game 1 and Valdez game 2. No surprise.
  17. FWIW, FanGraphs writers have us as the overwhelming favorites in this series. They also have us as favorites in the ALCS and tied with the Dodgers for the World Series. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/heres-whos-going-to-maybe-win-the-2021-world-series/
  18. Hallion sucks. The rest seem ok.
  19. Tony might put out the get away day lineup cause of the start time.
  20. I actually kind of agree with this. The Astros really need to take the first 2 to have a strangle hold on this series. If the Sox can just take 1 in Houston, we'll get home field going back to Chicago where we played the Astros extremely well in the series after the ASB. Also, as bad as our record is against Houston, 4 of the 7 games were definitely close/winnable for us.
  21. I'm ok with the 2 day games in Houston and the primetime game on Sunday.
  22. Canada on Canada crime.
  23. Yeah Jason's home run calls and calls in big moments aren't great. Sometimes if you just listen to the audio you cringe a bit. But I feel like he's a pretty good announcer overall and he meshes very well with Steve.
  24. Tuesday - Yankees at Red Sox Wednesday - Cardinals at Dodgers Thursday - White Sox vs. Astros, ALWC vs. Rays Friday - Thursday games, Braves vs. Brewers, NLWC vs. Giants
  25. I was watching some highlights of last night's game and they had the Detroit broadcasters for some of them and my god are they boring. It just sounds like dead air all the time and the color commentator sounded like he was on his deathbed.
