9/4- White Sox at Royals, 6:10
He kind of screwed himself when he swiped at Merrifield's grounder. That's an out if he lets it through.

Kopech's stuff is way too good to keep giving up this many runs.

Ump giving Santana off the plate and inside. But wouldn't give Lopez the low strike.

Lopez is still real questionable as a starter, especially when he doesn't have his good slider. He's much more valuable as a long reliever in Kopech's old role.

Looked like Salvy was ready for it. It looked like he inched a little closer to the plate right as Lopez started his wind up.

Ump missed such an obvious strike. Good thing it only cost Lopez a few pitches.

Reylo hasn't really had the good slider today.

Damn 1 away from a perfect game.

10 feet away maybe. I don't think Leury could have hit it much farther.

Romy looks like a right handed Carlos Gonzalez. Even wears the same number.

When Mike Wright looks way better than Dallas, it's pretty goddamn concerning.

Of course the Royals can have a quality 11 pitch at bat against us but couldn't score a single fucking run with the bases loaded and nobody out. Yes, I'm still salty about that. These slapdick fuckers always get up to play us and just lay down against Cleveland.

His cutter has been terrible this year. When he can throw it inside to right handers he's been pretty good. He also hasn't thrown it effectively to lefties at all so he can't get them out like he used to. His slider has also been non-existent so that explains his struggles vs. lefties as well. He had 4 solid pitches last year, this year he has 1 (change up) and the rest have been negative in terms of run value.

I swear the Royals saved all their best pitchers against us. Hernandez hadn't pitched since August 27th. On normal rest he would have pitched against Cleveland.

Cause this game is already lost and we shouldn't be destroying our bullpen in the first game of the road trip just because Dallas is a bum.

He's a control pitcher without any control. The only thing he does well right now is field his position.

Keuchel pitching worse than Arrieta against the Astros tonight. It's so sad.

Good lord Keuchel sucks. You can see why he nibbles until it's 3-2, cause when he has to throw it in the zone it's batting practice.

Jays claim Lamb
Guess he's gonna platoon with Espinal at 3B.

In Defense of Leury
Seby is ok at framing, but looks like he has a hole in his catcher's mitt. Collins is the main reason we get screwed by umpires so much because he makes borderline pitches look like sure balls most of the time. Seby is basically a replacement level catcher and Collins is probably the worst catcher in baseball given how bad his framing is.

The broadcast was so bad. I thought I was watching a game on a CRT in 1998.

Reminds me of when were 18-2 against KC and Detroit last year. We're only 17-12 so far this year and 3-7 in our last 10 against them. We really need to turn that around and it needs to start tonight by finally scoring some runs off Carlos Hernandez. Cause we're gonna need it with Keuchel pitching.

In Defense of Leury
I like how we have to keep defending Grandal even when we just went through a month of some of the worst catching performances we've had in recent history without him and the guy has an OPS over .900 and is hitting .529 with 4 homers since coming back last week.

In Defense of Leury
The Reds gave $64 million to Moustakas over 4 years because they couldn't land Grandal. The Brewers wanted Grandal back, just not at the number we paid him. I'm sure they would have wanted him back at around 4 years and $60 million. 2 other teams were more than willing to pay him more than $60 million to play for them.

In Defense of Leury
$/WAR shouldn't really scale linearly. There are way more guys who can provide 1-2 WAR like Leury can than there are guys like Grandal who can give you 4-5 WAR when they're healthy. There's a reason Leury's market is under $5 million while 3-4 teams were more than happy to pay Grandal $16+ million a year for 3-4 years. BTW, Grandal put up 2.6 WAR while playing 68 games. He was also playing on one knee for like the first 2 months. He really isn't the guy you should be using in this example. If you wanna talk about not living up to their contract, look no further than Keuchel.
