QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2027915.story NFL to delay late game kickoffs.............I like it from a fans standpoint on doubleheader games. Am I missing something? They are moving 3:15 games to 3:25 to avoid overlap, but are leaving 3:05 starts the same?! Shouldn't they move 3:05 games as well?

Can someone who wants to see the playoff expanded past 4 teams provide reasons? I've seen that people want it to, but i haven't heard good reasons behind it. The big problem a lot of people had was that #3 got left out. I think it was a few years ago that Auburn was undefeated at #3, but didn't get to play, and last year's rematch people felt was not fair for #3. I think a 4 team playoff will eliminate this issue. I don't care who #5 is, because overall, they didn't earn the right to play. The big thing I see happening is 3-4 years from now people will be upset that #5 got left out. Then they'll expand it to 8 to make sure #5 gets in. Then 3-4 years after that, people will be upset #9 got left out, so they'll expand it to 16. Rinse and repeat until you have the NCAA Basketball tournament for football. And I think a 4 team playoff still keeps the regular season meaningful, but once you go beyond that, it really starts to water down the regular season. LSU vs Bama in the regular season was huge because the loser's season was suppose to be over. Same with Oregon vs LSU. When you start letting 8, 16, etc. teams into the post season, these games mean nothing. (Especially when there is no home field, and they're being played at bowl games). So when I hear people on TV saying they need to expand beyond 4 teams, I don't understand it. I think 4 eliminates the argument that the BCS leaves out the best teams. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) I don't mind having a committee, but I'd impose some restrictions on them. Keep the BCS rankings, or some modification of them. 1) If there are more than three conference champions (CC) ranked in the top six, then the committee must select at least three of those CC. Furthermore, if there are more than three CC ranked in the top six and less than three of those CC are undefeated, all undefeated CC must be selected. If there are more than three CC ranked in the top six and more than two of those CC are undefeated, at least two of the undefeated CC must be selected. If there are less than four CC ranked in the top six, then all CC must be selected. 2) If Notre Dame ranked in the top two, or undefeated and ranked in the top six, they must be selected. 3) The selection committee may fill any remaining slots from any team ranked in the top six, with the exception that no conference may have more than two selections. I can understand most of this except for #2. Why should Notre Dame ever be required to be selected? They choose not to be in a conference, that's on them. And they have won 2 bowl gamessince 1995, against Hawai'i and U Miami. They have NEVER won a BCS game. They are no longer the "power house" they once were, and should not be given any special privileges. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) Zach Zaidman @ZachZaidman Matt Forte says he will not miss the 2012 regular season. Why would he say that? He just ruined any tiny bit of leverage he had in the negotiations. Time to sign the offer and show up to camp.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 10:22 AM) There are rumors Bynum is available for the right deal... What about Deng+ for Bynum and that Noah for Evans and #5 rumor.. As I stated before I like the fact Evans worked with a "shot doc" then improved his shooting significantly after. He's also versatile, he played PG and SF last year and can obviously play SG, with that if Barnes is off the board when we're up at 5 we can grab a Bradley Beal and play Evans at the 3. I'm fine with keeping things the same, but I enjoy speculating as well. Why would the Lakers ever make that trade? They were rumored to trade Bynum straight up for Howard, now they'll trade him for Deng "+"? I don't think there's anything on this roster that gets you Bynum except for Rose. Deng is an often injured above average player, they don't need Noah, or Gibson, and that's all we have of any value.

People can say fans are exaggerating these foul calls, but when the announcers are repeatedly questioning the calls going the Heat's way, you know they're questionable calls at best.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2012 -> 08:40 AM) WTF, Magic to talk to Shaq about GM position? This is just some bs Chris Broussard threw out there during the pregame. This was right before he said he heard the Magic will look to trade Dwight for Bosh and Wade, then took it back as soon as he got laughed at by everyone else on the show. I can't stand Chris Broussard, and I think he just throws crap at walls until something sticks.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) The Pacers are only ahead in this game because of getting to the foul line. But no team in the league has less right to complain about that than Miami. Ok, I'm switching between the Sox game and this one, it just seems like when I switch back it's some bs foul favoring Miami.

I'm rooting for Indy, but it's so depressing just knowing what could have been... And maybe it's only in my head, but I HATE that the fouls depend on what jersey you're wearing.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/05/16/clo...ng-nato-summit/ I'm sure throwing 1000 pies around won't cause any violence. I think that is going on tomorrow, so it should start the weekend off on a nice note.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 4, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) I'm sick and tired of Brian Kelly embarrassing my alma mater. This kind of s*** didn't happen when Lou Holtz was in charge. How is this Brian Kelly's fault? Did he tell the player to go get drunk and then attack cops? I don't get how Brian Kelly is suppose to monitor the kids 24/7. This was at a party late at night. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) Man, seriously, f*** this guy: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7832334/...-stan-van-gundy He's quickly becoming the next Lebron. I think he's worse. LeBron was a dick for what he did, but Dwight is acting like a rich spoiled little kid. Seriously, your coach called you out for trying to get him fired, now you pout and say Mr. coach was mean, I don't want to play for him anymore. Man the F UP, earn your damn paycheck, and play some f'n basketball. Little damn baby.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 09:38 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/bre...0,5990658.story This seems stupid to me. They may not get MORE revenues from upgrades, but they lock the customer into another 2 year contract. If the customer cancels that contract, they have to pay the outrageous cancellation fees. What is now stopping customers from going to a competitor to get the new phone and avoid these upgrade fees? As long as the service is about the same, I don't see why people wouldn't, it's not like prices are much different. (I realize there is a "set up" fee with most companies, but corporate discounts usually cover that)

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) Given that news, I think you have to deal off Forte for a 2nd or 3rd round pick and then draft a back in the 2nd round to spell Bush. The Bears can't afford to pay Matt, and even if they could, I wouldn't want them to do so. Is there any way they could use that 2nd and this years 1st to trade up for Floyd or Blackmon (I realize Blackmon is probably a huge reach, but that'd be amazing)? I'd love to basically "trade" Forte + high pick for a potential stud WR. The thought of having 2 #1 WR's is very exciting, but probably very unrealistic. I don't get how they determine value of trade-ups. I know there's a chart with values, but when I see actual trades (like this year by the Redskins) it just throws everything off.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7683943/...n-orlando-magic Ugh, seriously. f*** this guy. He's bordering on Lebron level of douchebaggery. This makes complete sense. If it's true he wants to go to the Nets, then why force a trade there? They have enough cap space to sign him this summer, why lose any pieces.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) Yeah, the 1st is just way too important. I think a return of the two 2nd rounders they gave up for Marshall and a Johnny Knox, if healthy, would be fair. However, the Dolphins probably think they can compete soon, and they need to, so I'm sure it's not a match. Just get Jay a legitimate threat, PLEASE. What would you use the 1st to draft? I think a 1st for Marshall would be a great trade. If you think WR with the 1st pick, you're making that pick hoping he becomes as good as Marshall, trading the 1st for Marshall guarantees you get a solid WR with the pick. The argument I could see is that he's getting older, and drafting a WR straight out of college gives you a "fresher" WR. Of course if the Dolphins do the trade for 2 2nd's I'd rather the Bears give that up, but I wouldn't be upset if they gave up the 1st.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...-offensive-line I don't even think that highlighted section is the worst of what he said. He brings up drafting Chris Williams, who looks more and more like a bust. (Drafted to play a position he can't) And he says "We brought in a player with a lot of NFL experience who is still in his prime." This being Chris Spencer... The man brought in to replace Olin Kreutz, but then wasn't an opening day starter, at all. Most of his "reasons" that the Bears have done more than anyone else are just reasons he should be fired, not improvements to the line. -

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) The Bears are only 6 percent under the minimum of where they need to be for the new salary cap rules. Why give it to an aging veteran when they could give it to Forte or another young, core player? It's my understanding that the salary minimum doesn't even take place until next year, so they can save this space and spend it next year in free agency on someone. That, to me, would be the smartest idea. Load up on the money you can offer for someone next year. Oh, and this Briggs stuff is BS. He signed a 6 year deal so he could get the most guaranteed money... Briggs knew exactly what he was doing 3 years ago. This is the "penalty" for getting all that upfront cash. -
PSN ID - Beernut84 Team - OSU This is my first online dynasty, so I'm new to the whole thing too. Edit: My bad, I didn't realize all the questions involved. I have the game.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) Any of the PS3 people getting NCAA 12? I'd really love to get into a decent online dynasty. I figured given the leanings of this board, maybe we could fill the Big Ten+2 and have a bunch of online showdowns in conference play. If it happens, obviously I'm in and I'd take Northwestern. I just preordered it, I'm down for this!

I don't get it... the guy even says; "They explain the rules to you, but as a kid you're not really listening to all of them rules," Small said. "You go out and you just, people show you so much love, you don't even think about the rules. You're just like 'Ah man, it's cool.' You take it, and next thing you know the NCAA is down your back." So basically he was well aware that what he was doing was against the rules, but he did it anyway. What exactly is the team to do? You educate them, you can't sit there and hold their hand. The guy knew the rules, but he went against them. How is that the team's fault? -

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) I know this is a fantasy playoff question but figured I'd get the quickest input here, got a little dilemma my lineup as it is now RB-Turner (not moving) RB-Mendenhall (not moving) RB/WR - LT WR-Vincent Jackson (not moving) WR-Mike Wallace (not moving) WR-Sidney Rice on my bench currently that can fill the RB/WR slot - Jonathan Stewart, Steve Smith (Carolina), Percy Harvin I was 13-2 this year and this is the first round of the playoffs and now have a pretty good sized dilemma with some injuries going on. Do I go with the hot hand in Stewart against the best Run D in the league while there may be a good chance that they will be throwing all game from behind? If that might happen, should I plug in Steve Smith in place of Sidney Rice, since him and Percy Harvin may be catching Joe Webb throws (but with a chance that Favre may be back AGAIN, I'd have to play one of them), or should I stick with LT (who I have not played in forever because of obvious fantasy reasons) who may be taking alot of dumpoffs with from whoever is playing QB (Brunell or a hurt Sanchez)? I don't know why but I just cannot get LT out of my head even though he's been on my bench the second half of the year. Any suggestions? Or I can just eat the $5 and pick up a Tashard Choice, Michael Bush or a Rashad Jennings (if MJD can't go) Depending on what website you play on, you should eat the $5 and pick up Webb... I haven't tried, but from what I have heard, he is listed as a WR/QB, so you could pick up a ton of points by playing him at WR.
