  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) Well, we all thought it would be hard to top McArdle, but Charlotte Allen is now lapping the field *False **There were not 11 and 12 yo's ***It's K-4 ****There are two male teachers on staff *****There was a male janitor, though I'm not sure why you'd bring a bucket to a gun fight Yeah, adult females are a bunch of feminized weaklings incapable of stopping a man with a gun, but "huskier 12-year-old boys" are known to be impervious to bullets! Y2HH I know what you're saying, but these are people writing for somewhat major publications. Ignoring them won't make them go away. Ridicule and scorn for their terrible ideas might, or at least lets you vent. I'll point out that both Mex and I linked to people mocking them and not the original articles. While Y2HH's point is valid, I agree with SS, ridicule these people for their idiocy. I purposely didn't post a link to her website, rather to another one to not give her more traffic.
  2. Libertarian columnist Megan McArdle has just wrote the most idiotic idea ever on the internet...she says we should start training kids to rush gunmen to prevent further attacks. Unbelievable... http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/12/18/1...dex+(Daily+Kos)
  3. Meh, they deserve to get booed, what does he expect, a standing ovation? If they don't want to get booed, beating the Packers once in a while would be a great start.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) He said mentality...I, too, have an MJ-like mentality but that doens't mean I'm as good as him. Just kidding, yeah I am as good as him Jake...the MJ of SoxTalk (wants to destroy every poster here) Just to get back on point and topic, you don't have to hate an opponent to beat them, Peppers being friendly to Rodgers after a sack doesn't mean we will lose to them because Peppers didn't use Rodgers helmet as a prop to get up...
  5. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) Do they ever hang out? Are they ever seen chatting and laughing together on court in a friendly way? Do they train together in the offseason? Do they help eachother up after the other falls? No. Derrick might respect Lebron as a competitor but he doesn't like Lebron. Derricks M.J./Kobe-like mentality is one of the things we all love about him It's a lot different mentality than I see out of guys like Peppers and Forte. I'd wait a little longer before including Rose name along with Kobe/MJ... I hope you realize MJ was best pals with Charles Oakley and Patrick Ewing of the "hated" Knicks, yet it didn't stop MJ from wanting to bury them everytime they played and vice versa. Magic and Larry were pals yet their teams waged wars... We just turned the NFL thread into the NBA thread.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) That's Lebron hugging Rose not the other way around. And he's doing it after the game is over. Everyone knows they don't like eachother Drop it dude, come on. I've never heard from anyone but you that DR hates LBJ, they may not be best friends but they are always complimenting each other...where's your proof of this "hate"? The Bulls/Heat rivalry sucks because they don't hate each other...
  7. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) my life doesn't depend on it either, the players lives depend on it. They SHOULD want to play their hardest to get into the playoffs and win a superbowl. When you see guys smiling and laughing with the other team in a game on which your playoff lives depend, not to mention your pride, it makes me think they lack heart. Even some players agree with me, I hear Matt Bowen talking about defensive players attitudes all the time. He says some of them like to give guys an extra pop when they hit them, not to try and injure them but maybe just to shake them a little. Because if the QB is shook that means he's scared, and when QB's get scared they start making poor decisions. And when Aaron Rodgers starts making poor decisions, the Bears win games. And when the Bears win games, the Bears could win a superbowl. How many times have we seen Cutler get flustered in the pocket? Nobody is talking about dirty hits that cause concussions and permanent injuries. I'm talking about hitting guys hard the legal and correct way. Maybe getting into their heads a little. Not slapping them on the back and sharing a joke. Rodgers is a robot, it doesn't make bad decisions. You can get him off balance, get him away from his comfort zone and get rid of the ball earlier than he wants but he doesn't stupidly throw the ball into double coverage.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) Pretty clear the NFL protects QBs and will really protect QBs they want to market. Mark Barron got hit for an Unnecessary Roughness call for this tackle on RG3. As you can see at this point of the play RG3 was a ball carrier, not a QB in the pocket. Well, then I have no idea what is considered a good clean hit and what is dirty. The Peppers hit looked clean, didn't lead with his helmet and it wasn't a late hit. The NFL should just go ahead and change the rules to that you can't hit QBs anymore...it will certainly help Cutler with the turnstile OL he has.
  9. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Hey, maybe I'm wrong. It was just a thought. Wouldn't mind seeing a little more meanness out there. I'm reminded of an old quote about boxers: "I like em' mean. The meaner the better". I feel the same way about the defense Yes because we need more brain injuries to these young guys who will one day retire from their jobs (let's not forget, it's a job) and have them deal with the repercussions of hitting each other harder because, damn it, it's a Bears/Packers rivalry!! Look, I hate losing to the Pack as much as the next guy but my life doesn't depend on who won on Sunday.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 05:17 PM) I know this is one of those responding to absurdity with violence type things, but here we agree. These are vile, evil people and while I know it's an animalistic response, I'll make an exception in their case. These people need to be disposed of, violently. At least these idiots would know that showing up at funerals, where emotions are raw and people are grieving, would have reprecussions, like them getting their asses kicked. If taunting family members with chants of "those little kids are in hell" isn't reason enough to beat their asses, I don't know what is. Sorry, it just pisses me off that these families who have just experienced the worst possible thing that can happen to a parent, that they have to sit through those assholes adding to their grief. f*** that. I know it's not manly to admit it but I cried on Friday night when I found out about it since I have a 3 year old son in pre school and I don't know if I could ever get through what those poor people have to go through. If there is a God, may He help them get through it.
  11. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) These guys aren't the 85 Bears, they need to play with an edge. Derrick Rose isn't chatting with Lebron during a game or helping him up when he falls. Whats so bad about giving Rodgers a pop? Nothing dirty just a hard hit to the midsection like they give Cutler? Instead they wrap him up and gingerly place him on the ground, then kiss him on the cheek and bring him some warm cocoa. It's awful You must've missed the shot Peppers got hit with the bogus late hit flag on Rodgers...it was a good clean hit but according to the refs, you can't hit Rodgers hard.
  12. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) I've never heard of a DE being nice to a QB before honestly. Not on the field. These guys entire lives is basically to murder QBs, not to have a tea party with them. This entire team is missing a lot of meanness, I guess thats another thing to blame Lovie for. Basically the only guy who's willing to lay someone out on our team any more is Lance Briggs This is a load of crap, I remember the 85 Bears, they were not these crazed madmen trying to kill QBs, a few of their hardest hitters were friendly guys who would help the oppossing players up and even chat with them (Dent, Singletary, Fencik, Perry). The only nuts were Hampton and to a certain extent, McMichael. Players by and large don't "hate" the other team...Urlacher was always friendly to Favre even though he was out there trying to lay him out. I hope you realize that Derrick Rose doesn't really hate LeBron James and vice versa...
  13. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) I do not give a s*** if you respect Rodgers, save the friendly banter and respect until after the game. These punks have lost 6 in a row to the Packers including 2 embarrassing games at home where the crowd boos you, and they're on the field slapping hands and chatting with the enemy like a bunch of punks. Unacceptable. Is this real life?
  14. I swear that if WBC members showed up to a funeral of a family member of mine to protest it, whether it would be because one of those little kids were related to me or if God forbid one of my cousins in Iraq (two were serving there) were killed, they'd have to peel me away from them. These are some sick twisted f***s.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) The OL for the Packers has been banged up this year, but some of those sacks are on Rodgers. That play were Rodgers darted around in the pocket, rolled to his right and fired a strike downfield was a thing of beauty. I'll take that along with some sacks all day. You go from Favre to Rodgers, I hate you.
  16. Another point, I heard yesterday that Rodgers has been sacked more than any other QB this season? I have a lot more respect for him after hearing that. Green Bay has had QB protection isues but that doesn't make Rodgers get pouty and ineffective. ARodg is just an awesome player, he gets the job done no matter what. To be fair though, he does have more weapons and has a HC who knows what an offense is.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) That's why the Bears' GM was fired last year. and our biggest issue, the OL wasn't adressed. I f***ing hate being a Bears fan right now but I can't not root for them. I feel like a Cubs fan.
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) If Jay Cutler was capable of winning a game for a team I would like the Bears chances. I personally think Jay Cutler is glorified more than he should be because the history of the QB position for the Bears is so bad. I so wanted Cutler to be the answer to our QB woes but as talented as he is and considering the garbage surrounding him, I have to agree with your post. He just makes too many boneheaded decisions out there, his mechanics is crap and his mental toughness is questionable. Every game you know he's gonna give the D two or three chances at an INT at the worst time. How many times did Rodgers throw a wtf pass yesterday? I can't recall even one... The Bears FO also needs to take a big share of the blame too, it's not all on Cutler. I still think we can win with him with a top notch QB coach and OC. The Bears for some reason haven't had that since I've been a fan and I don't see that happening anytime soon.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) The Packers defense isn't mediocre. It's certainly not elite and they don't flat out suck, they're in the middle=mediocre. GB's chances rest on Aaron Rodgers arm. Which might be enough BTW, everyone knows the reason the Giants have had success is because they are able to consistently put pressure on Rodgers without blitzing, something the Bears have also been able to do, the big difference is that the Giants have an offense that can score...
  20. We've seen it before, a team barely gets in and goes on to win the SB, the last two years in fact. Could happen this year too. I just don't think the Bears have it in them, the OL is just too horrible. They made the mediocre GB defense look elite yesterday.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 08:25 AM) LOL. I love catching up on this thread monday mornings Edit: Also, I know most of you are Bears fans, but most people have been saying at least 2 of the 3 OPI calls on Jeffery were correct and the 3rd was iffy. I understand the game was called badly and apparently there were similar plays by GB not called penalties, but the actual OPI calls themselves weren't bad calls. If you aren't going to call those on GB's WRs, then don't call it against Chicago, that right there makes them bad calls. The Peppers "late hit" was crap, so was the PI on Conte. In the end, GB is the better team, they don't need refs helping them out...
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) How Mason Crosby still has a job is crazy. I'll be surprised if he's your kicker in the playoffs.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 16, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) Yeah, I actually loved what I saw from Jeffrey today. this the refs were horse s***, those off PIs hardly ever get called...especially when the DBs are also grabbing and pushing. Jeffrey gonna be a good WR.
  24. I checked in at half time to post, I'm watching the game with two very biased pro GB spanish anouncers so reading this thread, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought those PI calls were utter garbage...these refs were atrocious. I'm not saying the Bears would've won if it weren't for those calls but gaddam it, do these refs ever see that all that pushing and shoving between WRs and CBs happen in every f***ing game? GB's DBs are especially guilty of grabbing the opposing WRs, they play very physical. Garbage refs...
  25. The thing I'm most impressed by Rodgers is his football IQ, he just does not make dumb mistakes, neverforces the issue and doesn't give you opportunities at a INT. He's like the exact opposite of Favre in that respect. Hopefully we can make some adjustments on D, we're not pressuring Rodgers enough.
