  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) Yep. I think we will make a push too and I am absolutely okay with it as long as we bring in that developmental QB. I also am absolutely okay giving up a second and a future pick for a Jimmy G or maybe seeing if the Patriots are interested in getting Brady a receiver like Alshon in a package for Jimmy G. I am skeptical about using a top 5 pick on a QB in this years draft (not sure what is out there) but we clearly have an immediate need to make a change. If we thought Tony was healthy, I'd absolutely make that move (but we can't ignore finding a young QB to develop under him). Hub ARkush was on yesterday and said that the Patriots asking price for Garoppolo is Two #1's plus other stuff.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Who is ready for the Bears to sign Tony Romo in the offseason? I think it's going to happen. He has the EIU connection with Pace. I'd take 2 years of Romo while they develop a young QB. They could still take a young QB high. I think it makes sense because they have another draft and close to $80 million in cap space. A few additions in the secondary and this could be a top 5 unit on defense. They will some win now pieces so starting Romo would be fine. They just need a QB in the pipeline. Some have argued that it's no different than keeping Cutler but I disagree. Romo is better. I've been a Cutler supporter for a long time but it's time for both parties to move on.
  3. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) I can see them outrighting Kevan Smith, Liriano, Leury Garcia, and Brennan. They would probably add Engel, May, Lamb, and leave some open slots for the draft. If they are rebuilding, there may be some options in the rule V draft for the bullpen, depth at C and the OF. I actually think there's a chance that Smith, Liriano, and Garcia would be get claimed.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) If we're rebuilding, I'd make sure to protect Engel, May, Guerrero, & Delmonico. Even if they weren't rebuilding, they'd need to protect those guys.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) Tomorrow (Friday) is the deadline for teams to add players to their 40-man rosters in order to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Here's a look at who is currently exposed that may need protection, and who is already on-roster that could go. What the Sox do Friday could perhaps be an indicator of direction for the offseason. I would think that Will Lamb, Nick Delmonico, Adam Engel, Jacob May, and Brad Goldberg will all be added to the 40 man. Like it was mentioned, Matt Purke, Brandon Brennan, and Minaya could possibly be outrighted to Charlotte. Avisail Garcia and Brett Lawrie are non-tender candidates. Alfredo Gonzalez is a moveable option as well.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) I'm 3x that cost. I get that we pay a premium to have great schools and a nice clean village close to chicago, but the bill is always painful. I'd vote for anyone that can figure out how to lower it. As long as tax dollars pay for schools, police, and fire it probably won't go down anytime soon.
  7. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) There may be no QO after the season though, so that diminishes that value. Not really. Value should increase actually. Passan made it sound like new CBA would have system that compensates team that loses player but doesn't take pick away from signing team. It should increase the value of Frazier because there's literally no risk that you might not get a pick for him.
  8. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 02:55 AM) That's a given and so is Lux but I need a given bat that I can plug into my lineup for the next 10-12 years I think Bellinger and Verdugo are those guys. If you get those 2 and Urias, that's a pretty good base to a deal. I wouldn't be surprised if the White Sox want Joc Pederson which would be fine with me.
  9. I could be completely wrong but I think there's a reason why National Writers haven't linked the Dodgers and Red Sox to Sale trade talks. Those are the 2 teams with the most interest. All of the rest of these are leaks for whatever reason. I have no doubt Atlanta wants Chris Sale. They don't have the pieces though. I bet it's the Dodgers unless DD ponies up.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) I think ya trade Q because his value will never be higher. I think you trade Sale because it seems like team and he has 3 years of control. I have no reason to believe that Quintana won't remain awesome. If you could get a ton for both guys then I'd deal both. If you can't, then they should trade Sale now and hang onto Q into the season.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) You move Q as well. Sale and Q have the most value You don't have to though. He has 4 years of control. Can be moved at deadline. Or next offseason. Or the one after.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) I could see it getting done for a package revolving around Albies, Maitan, and a couple high ceiling arms I don't think so. They need hitters in a Sale deal. The Braves don't have an Andrew Benintendi or Cody Bellinger without giving up Swanson.
  13. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) Braves would be interesting... Not sure if Swansby would be in play, but Albies, Newcom, Allard and Maitan would be tasty along with a couple other lottery tickets. I don't think they have enough without Dansby honestly
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) I have had a feeling the past two seasons that Alshon dgaf. I just don't think he wants to be in Chicago. He f***ed up and took something. No chance he'd willingly sacrifice $3.5 million.
  15. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 10s11 seconds ago The Washington #Nats among the latest teams to inquire on #Whitesox ace Chris Sale, but no serious talks with anyone yet This tells me that the Sox have had extensive talks with teams and are now using Nightengale to report the Nationals interest. Sox always use Bob as leverage. I don't think Nationals are a realistic trade partner because they won't give up Turner and don't have enough without him. This is a negotiating ploy.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) Being totally unfamiliar with the Dodgers system in general, do they have any catching depth? They actually have quite a few guys: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=la Austin Barnes is always the guy that's mentioned. He can play multiple spots though.
  17. I'm in a White Sox group chat on twitter. Over the past couple days, Ozzie Guillen Jr has been in there. He came in today and said that he's heard the Sox are close to trading Sale and Frazier to the Dodgers. That's all he had. No idea if it's true or not. Just thought I'd pass along.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) I should clarify - I didn't mean that is non-tendered but more that he is done. The non tender date is December 2nd so they wouldn't have to dump him until then. They're probably looking to trade him. If they don't find a middle reliever prospect with control issues or starter prospect with strikeout issues or athletic outfield prospect who strikes out and doesn't hit for average then they dump Lawrie. Sounds like the White Sox had Brett Lawrie wear some kind of orthotics in his shoes. Lawrie thinks they are what caused his injuries and he's had a falling out with the training staff. He gone in some fashion.
  19. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 06:45 AM) I still fully expect they will keep most of the players and "go for it" again.. Why? Why do people think this? Everyone is reporting that they are rebuilding. We've been beat over the f***ing head with it and I keep seeing this. It's a stupid opinion based on KW still being around.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) Who is more likely to put up 1.5 war by July 1st, a healthier and cheaper Saladino or Lawrie at less than 100%? Do we know that Saladino is healthy?
  21. I wonder if the Sox wait to trade Frazier. Do they need to see the details of the new CBA prior to dealing Frazier? If a team can receive a QO for him after next season, he is more valuable than if that system is scrapped.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) I bet they end up dealing for Verlander. Probably don't have to move Urias or whoever their next best prospect is, but probably a few from just under those guys. Probably makes more sense for them than dealing for Sale to be honest. Bill Shea ‏@Bill_Shea19 Nov 10 I'm not plugged into the MLB trade channels, but a source who is connected to Verlander's camp told me the rumored Dodgers trade is brewing.
  23. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 2h2 hours ago Sources: Catching market heating up. Jason Castro sitting on offers from at least three AL teams. He's in top tier with Ramos and Wieters.

  25. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) Adam Rubin ‏@AdamRubinESPN 11m11 minutes ago Bartolo Colon has signed with the Braves, according to multiple reports. Adam Rubin ‏@AdamRubinESPN 7m7 minutes ago Confirmed: Bartolo Colon to #Braves. Adam Rubin ‏@AdamRubinESPN 5m5 minutes ago Braves rotation includes Bartolo Colon at 43 and R.A. Dickey at 42. Colon is getting $12.5 million on a 1 year deal. It's actually a solid deal. Colon put up 2.9 fWAR last year.
