John Danks should never start for the White Sox again
Y2Jimmy0 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Piggybacking off of what Brian has said, a local sports radio host that may or may not be on the air at this moment told me they discussed releasing Danks upon arriving home from road trip. This same host tweeted about the possibility yesterday. That's all he had. I believe that this is happening. May not be by tomorrow though. We shall see. -
QUOTE (bmags @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) That said I look at theirs and am kind of meh. They took a lot of players that I see and thought "mehh, they could be good?". I like what they did with the draft in accumulation though. But not surprised they took so many WRs after Hue Jackson basically called his WR group a bunch of dwarfs. They could easily have 2 top 5 picks next year though.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 2, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) Trying to read up on Miami C Zack Collins. I like Collins at 10. Is that about where he'll land? I've seen some mocks say so and some not even going in the first round. What are y'alls thoughts on Collins? Sure would be nice to have a good left handed catching prospect with some big bat potential. Zack Collins is my guy at 10 as well. He can rake from the LH side and has big time on base skills. He has plus power potential and gets on base at like a .500 clip. He has also improved his defensive skills.

The biggest problem is that Steve Stone sucks with Hawk. The Benetti pairing is bringing the best out of Stone. People better get used to it though because I think Jason Benetti will be the voice of the White Sox for a long time.

Greg Gabriel's thoughts on Bears draft class: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/05/02/gab...16-draft-class/

Adam Eaton has already put up 2.0 bWAR. He's the most valuable player.

Bears had an excellent draft. Ryan Pace is good at this drafting thing. I didn't love the Floyd pick. It was great from there on out though. The Bears front 7 is: Goldman, Bullard, Hicks, Trevathan, Freeman, Floyd, and McPhee. Added 3 pieces in the secondary, a tackling machine at ILB that will be great on ST. Whitehair wasn't an immediate need but was incredible value where he was taken. Bears should have one of best guard tandems in the league going forward. Jordan Howard was a great pick. I wouldn't be surprised if he's their lead back but Howard/Langford is very solid. Daniel Braverman was one of my favorite players in the class. I think he's a legit starting slot WR at some point. They cleaned up today. They also signed some UDFA's that people are very high on that could have easily been drafted.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) So they try to move up to grab one of the best players in the draft but can't do it. Then, as can only happen in the NFL, the overall best player in the draft falls like a rock. The Bears size on that opportunity to draft......Grandpa Leonard, the guy about whom every conversation starts with a list of excuses as to why he's so old they had to carbon date him and he didn't do anything at Georgia. Pace seems pretty good at drafting in later rounds, but I get the feeling he has no idea how to draft in the 1st. Two very bad picks in a row. White was a great pick and the best player on the board. he'll prove that this year. Dude is a stud.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) Interesting tweet from Dan Durkin: Last night, #Bears GM Ryan Pace stressed the importance/value he and his scouts put on arm length for all positions, not just OL/DL. Gives some insight. Hopefully that um...actuallly matters. I knew this. It was a factor with Lawson and Spence. Would have had shortest arms of any EDGE player tha Fox and Fangio have ever drafted. It's also a reason why I believed that they had no interest in Vernon Hargreaves. Chris Jones is 6-5 310 with 34.5 inch arms. I really hope he's the pick at #41. A front 7 of Goldman, Hicks, Jones, Trevathan, Freeman, McPhee, and Floyd would be nasty.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) New MLB Pipeline Top 100 http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=draft #96 Matthias Dietz went to Sandburg. My buddy coached him.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) Wonder what made him say that He and Ventura did not get along in their 1 year together. The Sox have no need for AJ.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 09:21 AM) Wonder if there is a trade back scenario to get some more picks. A lot of guys on the board are OLB and DL. Could see a massive run on those guys. I'd love to move back and recoup a pick or two. There are many options: DL Jon Bullard Florida Jihad Ward Illinois Andrew Billing Baylor Jarran Reed Alabama A'Shawn Robinson Alabama Chris Jones Mississippi State (My personal favorite) OT Le"raven Clark Texas Tech Jason Spriggs Indiana S Vonn Bell Ohio State Darian Thompson Boise State TJ Green Clemson Su'a Cravens USC Justin Simmons Boston College Sean Davis Maryland CB Kendall Fuller Virginia Tech Mackensie Alexander Clemson Xavien Howard Baylor Edge Rushers Noah Spence Eastern Kentucky Kevin Dodd Clemson Shilique Calhoun Michigan State There are also QB's, OG Cody Whitehair, some RB's and WRs. Bears could do almost anything with next two picks.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) I thought it was from his own account that he sent it. No. Someone had the photos and hacked his account and sent them out as him.

Spiegel and Goff talk about the Sox a ton. Mully talks about the Sox a lot. Laurence Holmes is a Sox fan too. The weekend baseball shows also cover the White Sox a lot. The fact that they don't talk about the Sox is nonsense. The Cubs are one of the best teams in baseball and they are the flagship. Of course they talk Cubs. And they have more fans. It's just the way it is and the way it should be.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 07:41 AM) Brings up some issues when you are stupid enough to get your picture doing drugs and admit to taking illegal payoffs on your own twitter account. All this on top of a previous suspension in college. It does. Those pictures are 5 years ago though when he was a 16 year old high school student. Kids are stupid. Most players take money. Him talking about serves no purpose though.

I'm not a fan of Leonard Floyd. He was one of the only picks that would really bother me. He's small, can't set the edge, and will be a 24 year old rookie. Those are big negatives. He's a big time athlete and Georgia typically uses players incorrectly. I'm not thrilled but I'm just a dumbs fan. Fox and Fangio have drafted and developed pass rushers in the past (Julius Peppers, Aldon Smith, Von Miller). I'll trust them here. It stinks that they had to give up the 4 but they must really like him. He better be good right away though. They don't really have time to train a 24 year old pass rusher. He'll be the same age during the season that Eddie Goldman will be when he gets his 2nd contract.

My team has a track meet after school and then it'll be right to my buddies' for the draft after so I'll leave my predictions here: 1. Rams-Goff QB Cal 2. Eagles-Wentz QB NDSU 3. Chargers- Stanley OT Notre Dame 4. Cowboys- Ramsey DB FSU 5. Jaguars-Bosa DE OSU 6. Ravens- Tunsil OT Ole Miss 7. 49ers- Buckner DL Oregon 8. Dolphins-Elliott RB OSU (Trade) 9. Buccaneers-Hargreaves CB Florida 10. Giants- Floyd LB Georgia 11. Bears-Rankins DL Louisville 12. Saints-Lawson DE Clemson 13. Browns-Conklin OT MSU 14. Raiders-Jack LB UCLA 15. Titans- Decker OT OSU 16. Lions-Reed DL Alabama 17. Falcons-Lee LB OSU 18. Colts-Kelly C Alabama 19. Bills- Spence OLB EKU 20. Jets-Lynch QB Memphis

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) That really sucks for the Bears. That's two (3 if you consider Baylor DE) defensive players that have dropped out of top ten, sucking up the player pool from the Bears. Shawn Oakman was always a day 3 pick. He can't play.

QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) Matt Spiegal doesn't know a thing about baseball..... This is a dumb post.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) I don't see him getting by ravens, unless ramsey AND he are there. I think Baltimore takes Bosa or Tunsil. They are playing a 43 defense this year and Tunsil is the #1 player in the draft IMO.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 12:41 PM) As long as Rankings can be disruptive, I'd be on board. Ultimately, what do I know. Fox and Fangio have a proven track record and I have faith in them. Exactly. And they are in a lot of 4 man fronts anyway. Rankins was recruited to Louisville by Bears OLB and former DL coach Clint Hurtt too FWIW.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/04/28/spi...t-isnt-a-fluke/ I like all the positive White Sox pieces so far.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) Greg Gabriel indicates he is hearing the Bears want Rankins. That is a name I really haven't heard around the Bears much. Kiper did pick him in his most recent mock. He's undersized but seems like he has the speed to get to the QB and disrupt. Haha I know. Leming told me a week ago that Rankins was the Bears guy. I asked Greg and he basically said I was nuts and he doesn't fit the scheme.

I think the Bears end up with Edge Shaq Lawson, DL Sheldon Rankins, or RB Ezekiel Elliott tomorrow.
