FutureSox: Will the "Best Player Available" be a prep player
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2016 -> 08:12 AM) The draft, in general, is the biggest thing we do at Future Sox each year (at least in terms of traffic). We've been waiting for the picture to get at least a small bit of clarity to get rolling on pre-draft work, and now it's underway. The first salvo comes from Brian (raBBit), who gives us some history and trends, the current picture, and focuses on the college versus high school discussion. You should read it if you want some background going into the June amateur Rule 4 draft. We will be doing deep dives into specific potential targets as we approach the draft, as well as some other draft-related features. This is just the first chapter. Good stuff, Brian.

Jason >>>>>>>>>>> Hawk
I'm willing to bet that Jason Benetti over the next 25 years or so, never leaves the broadcast to check on a player. How many times has Vin Scully done it? I'll wait for my answer.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 12, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) The other thing is Michael Jordan isn't hanging at clubs picking up chicks. All the stuff he did was pretty private. If there was no paramedic call to Tiger, all that stuff would probably never have come out. Ray Rice got nailed because he beat his wife at a hotel with a security camera. If he beat her somewhere private, he would have gotten away with a minimal suspension. I do think you are correct with the tact. He was always very protective of his brand. Ray Rice sucks though. If he were good he definitely would have gotten another shot.

Keith Law released his top 100 draft prospects: http://espn.go.com/mlbmockdraft/2016/insid...igh-school-arms 1. Corey Ray OF Louisville (Compared him to Ray Lankford) 2. Jason Groome LHP HS (NJ)- Tall Lanky LHP with 70 breaking ball 3. Delvin Perez SS Puerto Rico ( Best overall tools, questions about maturity and work ethic) 4. Mickey Moniak OF HS (CA). Can hit, run, and field. Could be a star if he exceeds power expectations. 5. A.J. Puk LHP Florida (Best College Starter) 6. Braxton Garrett LHP HS (AL) Advanced strike thrower with plus curveball 7. Blake Rutherford OF (CA) Already 19 years old, corner OF only. 8. Kyle Lewis OF Mercer (Could go as high as #2, very tools with contact issues) 9. Matt Manning RHP HS (CA)- 6'6 RH, son of former NBA player Rich Manning. Can hit 98 with hard spike curveball. 10. Nick Senzel 3B Tennessee (Best college bat in class. 2016 MLB Draft
QUOTE (raBBit @ May 11, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) I don't understand the love for Dakota Hudson lately. Lacks good secondary options, limited track record. I mean he tore up the cape but I wouldn't be thrilled with him at 10. I think he's just getting love because of the lack of college pitching. I'd love Perez or Ray obviously. I'd be good with Collins, Moniak, Rutherford, or Pint though.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 11, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) 6 walks for Fulmer over 4 innings, yikes AA hitters aren't swinging at the same nonsense that kids in the SEC did. Fulmer rarely threw strikes in college.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) The Padres lineup today is absolutely pathetic. They have like 2 legit MLB hitters out of 9 guys. No wonder the Cubs are steamrolling everyone. Half the NL is horrible and has a AAA talent level. They did win 7 straight vs Pittsburgh and Washington.

The Bathroom Dilemma
Greg, just so we are clear here: If a man with a penis identifies himself as a woman and is dressed as a woman, technically he/she should piss next to you at the urinal, correct? Or would you hold it and use a different bathroom?

Ventura will earn his extension the next 43 games
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 11, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) It's just a reminder this team still has its mental midgets and I wonder how long it will take for the new players to settle in that same role. Sure it was bad game but even when the team is behind there are people in the pen who will give up a run. Who exactly is a mental midget?

Early Trade Speculation
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 11, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) I really think Markakis/Teheran is the combo that best fits what the Sox are trying to do right now. CarGo would be nice, but he'll be too expensive IMO. What about Reddick and Doolittle from Oakland? What power LH relievers will be available because the Sox could use one.

Top 30 International Prospects; July 2nd 2016
QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 11, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) Sox absence on international front in the year when clearly should go all-in is consistent with the way they've viewed their minor-leagues for most of Williams' tenure. Very little interest or patience in building an organization, despite Hahn's words to the contrary. Watch for mature, but low ceiling, reaches in the draft this year. I don't agree with the part about mature, low ceiling reaches in this year's draft. I agree with the first part though. There really is no excuse not to go way over the international bonus pool this year. The Sox still have an owner that doesn't take that avenue of acquiring talent seriously though.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 10, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) You mean that clickbait trash tossed out out like viral chum into the shark-infested waters of the Blogging Industrial Complex? I couldn't even make it through the first 30 seconds of that cringe inducing schlock. DiCaro will hammer anyone who so much as gives a woman the side-eye, except for the overly influencial lead host of the afternoon show at her own station who's been put on blast gawking at CSN hosts tits numerous times (he's been on Deadspin twice! for it). Julie has nothing to say about that though, I'm sure if pressed she'd tell you Bernstein never meant what he said and that he's "on the right side of things." A level of forgiveness I've never seen her afford to any of her other targets, but hey she knows the path to her own show on that dying station is paved by clickbait Cubs tweets and kissing Bernstein's ass. The last update that I have to hear her stumble through will be her best. I don't wish upon anyone the nonsense that people say to her but she's not good at her job by any means. She searches her name on twitter all day and then stumbles and mumbles through updates and she has a law degree supposedly.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) Agree...although technically the Bears could have blocked the Eagles from hiring away from us (and others) as the only real protection they have would be if they were leaving for a GM job. That said, Pace (and Fox) for that matter both seem to be huge proponents of letting guys take promotions elsewhere (even if it hurts the Bears in the short-term, I think they view it as if guys go elsewhere and have success it only makes the Bears jobs more attractive...plus probably something about fresh minds always can bring in new viewpoints, etc). They did block Douglas from interviewing with the Browns earlier this offseason but that was probably done as a favor to him.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) I really liked the guy we lost...just because he came from the Ravens, haha. Bears will continue to lose guys with the way their front office is structured though. They have Ryan Pace as General Manager and Josh Lucas as Director of Player Personnel. Then they have Champ Kelly as Director of Pro Scouting and Douglas as Director of College Scouting. The Lucas position is a spot that many teams don't even have. For example, when Angelo was GM, Gabriel was College Scouting Director and Bobby DePaul was Pro Scouting Director. Those guys could only leave to take GM jobs. Heading up a personnel department will always be a promotion for Bears guys because Lucas will be above them.
