QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) And the answer is Trayce Thompson, Avisail Garcia, Marcus Semien. What is name 3 players out-hitting the "elite" Todd Frazier, Alex. But please trade 4 more young players for another proven veteran, Kenny Hahn. Even though it is a proven counterproductive strategy, it gives fans temporary succor and allows them to "dream again" Frazier has played great defense at 3B and is on pace for another 30 homer season though. To this point: Frazier (1.0 bWAR), Garcia (0.4 bWAR), Trayce (-0.0 bWAR), and Semien (0.5 bWAR).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) He talks a big PC game, but every once in a while he let's his inner-sexist slip out. It has happened more than once, but... Dan Bernstein @dan_bernstein @MattSpiegel670 I have no rooting interest in her work, but enjoy her giant boobs. 9:41 PM - 25 Mar 2015 I said something similar to one of my buddies about that CSN reporter a few days prior to this happening. I'd definitely never tweet it though and I'm not semi-famous. CSN has done a decent job lately though. Siera Santos has a pretty nice rack too.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) Can't link it but Keith Law in his chat today said he thinks Sox might be on Collins Thanks man. I'll check that out. I think you can though now, no? Aren't his chats on the meadow party.com now instead of the website?

http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=int It's kind of frustrating to see the Braves, Nationals, and Padres linked to all these prospects in a year when most of the big dogs have to sit out.

Cleveland outdrew us? Attendance down 13% so far
Y2Jimmy0 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) IMO, everyone's excuse is just as legit as anyone else's. I just don't think anyone should call out the team for not spending like the Cubs, and acting sort of small market. Teams don't spend $200 million on payroll in a hope to draw fans. They spend it when they have those fans locked up. I always find it curious many of the people calling the attendance lame weren't at the game. And it was so cold last night. I took my dog out for a walk after the game and couldn't believe it was May. Although the coldest I ever was at a game was a Cubs/Sox game at Wrigley in late May around 2006 or so. The wind was blowing straight in off the lake. It felt like it was about 15 degrees, and it was a week before June. I was calling people out and I wasn't there last night. I go frequently though. -

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) This attendance thread is like watching CNN election coverage. It's the same thing repeated over and over, yet I find myself coming back. Listen, go back to 2005. Attendance wasn't exactly great throughout the year. People are slow to come out. If anything, next year is the year you would see the biggest bump on if they make the playoffs. Case and point, 2005 and 2006. Like I've said in the past, we're going to get 15,000-20,000 for weekday games regardless if it's Boston. This will be true for the HOU and CLE series in May as well. The Twins series and KC series this month will have 25,000 on Friday and 30,000+ on Sat/Sun. Once School is out, it is consistently warm, THEN you will see the bump. But for now, no. 20,000 is fine. 12,000 is a joke though. -

QUOTE (shysocks @ May 5, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) ERIK! You're gonna give the ball to Erik? He is a bad, bad man! Ahh Billy Madison. Classic. -
QUOTE (knightni @ May 5, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) Is it wrong to want Nelson Cruz as our DH? No. It's not wrong at all. I'd rather have a lefty but it'd be a big improvement. Mark Shapiro and the Blue Jays could load up as well if they decided to sell off parts.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2016 -> 07:38 AM) In all honesty, they don't have much to trade for a bat either...unless they're willing to trade one of the top 3. It means we're going to be more in 2012 mode of finding the right veteran where we're assuming financial obligations without parting with so much talent. There's just no way we could afford to wipe out our entire farm system for Gray. Luckily, there's still a lot more potentially available bats on the market...with supply exceeding current demand, that should work in Hahn's favor if he makes a move in June or early July instead of waiting. Of course, that also means paying out more money by a factor of 1/5th or 1/6th contractually. Sox could definitely acquire a hitter like Beltran, Bruce, or Reddick at the deadline. A pitcher is possible too. They don't need an ace that would cost a haul. I'd look for a back end innings eater if Turner/Johnson can't do the job. I'd also be in the market for a power reliever from the LH side. Duke has been fine but if they had a LH setup man that throws hard to go with Robertson and Jones, they'd be in business.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2016 -> 05:23 PM) Basically the White Sox have some disadvantages, but now I think it all boils down to winning. Not many people are going to drive to 35th and Shields, not exactly a tourist destination or a fun destination, to pay 20-30 bucks to park and watch a baseball game. However, if you win win win, they will come. I've changed my mind on that cause of the Royals. They had 35,000 for a Wednesday day game today after 32000 last night. Five or six years ago they would have had 8,000 to 15,000 last night and today. I never thought I'd see it, but right now, KC basically sells out every game cause of last season and the season before. If you win, people will pay anything, do anything, go anywhere. Whether that means the fans will catch the winning fever in June and start packing the Cell or wait til next year after the WS victory remains to be seen. And virtually every fan who goes to Royals games has some sort of Royals attire. Hat, jacket if it's cold, T shirt, jersey. 35th and Shileds is fine. Parking is $20. I'm going Saturday Night for Sale bobble heads and Sale pitching. I'm paying for good seats but I can sit in the UD for $12. That's a steal. It has nothing to do with winning. They are the best team in the AL but its cold, there's nothing to do, it's expensive, they're not for real, it's in a bad neighborhood, blah, blah, blah. The majority of this fan base was pissed that they didn't sign Cespedes but then only put 12,000 in the park for a 1st place team in May. It's a joke. -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 5, 2016 -> 07:20 AM) I'd really like to see the Sox add another arm. Do you think Anderson + more could get Sonny Gray? No. Sox would get outid for Sonny Gray. Cubs or Dodgers could land him. The Sox don't need an ace though. Just a solid #4 starter.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Pirates are looking to be a fairly average team this year. They're really missing power in the middle of their order. The Pirates are 2nd in the NL in offense behind the Cubs and came in as the #1 offense in the NL. They just ran into a great Cubs team.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 4, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Its not smart. Nobody in Cincinnati or Milwaukee wants to watch that crap, young people aren't tuning it to watch teams go through a "process" for 4 years. These franchises are killing themselves and people are lauding them for it. IT doesn't matter though. Those fans will come back when the Reds and Brewers draft cornerstone players that will be part of their next winning team. Patching holes to go 81-81 in a great division is bad business. You disagree with "tanking". I don't. I think it's their only choice.
-
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 4, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) If you consume much NL baseball this is pretty much what it looks like. It's an embarrassment, the NBA stepped in and put an end to Hinkie's "process" but the NL is allowed to turn into a AAA league and nobody bats an eye. Absolutely ridiculous what the senior circuit has become, and its not good for the game. The teams that are doing it are smart though. Need to get really bad to get really good. Especially if your team resides in Milwaukee or Cincinnati.

I am on my plan period at work and I usually have 670 on the radio. There is a Cubs game on today so I flipped over to Kaplan's show. Their topic today is : If you are a Cubs fan and were promised to go to the World Series but you'd lose to the White Sox, would you take that deal? Is this show always s*** like this? It's just dopes calling in saying they'd rather not go to the world series then. Everyone keeps referencing how the teams are rivals. Yikes.

Who will be the 5th starter at the end of the season
Y2Jimmy0 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Latos will be their 5th starter and they'll acquire another RH starter to slot in at 3/4. -
I personally think Cruz should have been forced to carry his campaign the full term.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 4, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) Tehran is a mid rotation guy who would help more to get to the playoffs than in the playoffs. That may be his price but it's too much. Such trades of course rarely help and usually cause harm. But that doesn't stop the exuberance for them. Heck no one is even talking about Frazier, the super super slugger, and his Dunn-like output. He only has a .740 OPS but he's on pace for another 30+ homer season and has already accumulated 1.2 WAR because of stellar defense at 3B.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 4, 2016 -> 07:20 AM) Is Collins a polished hitter? It's probably a pipe dream, but it'd be nice to land a bat that is developed enough to put in the lineup during the stretch run this year. He's hitting .425/.587/.726 and has walked 48 times. He's a LHH with plus power potential and great on-base skills. He's also improved enough defensively that scouts think he can stay behind the plate. He'd be a great pick at #10 because he offers the kind of on-base skills that the White Sox simply don't have anywhere in their system.

Would Julio Teheran cost Tim Anderson?

QUOTE (knightni @ May 3, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) He's a habitual liar, 'roider and has a monster contract. I really doubt that this is more than speculation. If the Brewers at like $20 million though, he'd be on like a 4/60 deal. I think a rental type LHB is much more likely but it's not completely crazy.
