  1. That’s what I was kind of getting at. If after three months he still looks terrible as a starter, I wouldn’t be against seeing how he looks as a reliever. I’m sure we want avoid an experiment like that in 2020.
  2. He has one option left. Regardless, I think they give him three months (unless he starts off disastrously) and then reevaluate. The good news for him is would take a lot for him to lose his rotation this year. Next year will be the challenge for him.
  3. I can’t imagine we really made an offer if we’re actively pursuing Harper. There is no ideal OF arrangement that works for Harper, Brantley, & Jimenez. Sure, Bryce could theoretically play CF but that seems like something we’d want to avoid at all costs.
  4. We may want to change this thread title as us making an offer seems unlikely at this point.
  5. This raBBit tweet has definitely got me worried. There is no poster more connected than him.
  6. I was kind of afraid of this. I do like Marwin and kind of get how the versatility makes sense given where we are, but I would really hate to overpay for a guy like him.
  7. I think it’s pretty clear he’s waiting until the Winter Meetings to accept our proposal.
  8. They’re not. And I’m pretty sure Forbes reports Operating Income which means neither is their interest payments.
  9. Are we actually trying to land two whales? Maybe Morosi was right! If so, someone should tell Timmy & Moncada that they’ve been downgraded to Grant & Armstrong status.
  10. Does that even make them that much better? And to commit $400M to do so? Seems like a huge stretch to me.
  11. Solving their debt problem doesn’t mean they don’t have debt that still needs to be paid off. And we all need to remember the Cubs are owned by a legit trust fund. They aren’t Pizza Man who was able to pump all that Little Ceaser’s cash into the team. Until that new TV deal money comes, they have to remain somewhat frugal.
  12. I don’t think it will work that way. Harper will likely go first IMO because he’s the more desirable player. If you’re Boras, what do you gain having one less team in the mix?
  13. peavy44 isn’t making anything up, we’ve already seen proof of that. Whether his source is legit remains to be seen, but let’s encourage him to share that info. This has been the most entertaining thread in months.
  14. Hey raBBit, you have any idea what guys they may be looking at now?
  15. Harper would be the Michael Jordan of the White Sox. That’s got to be pretty alluring for a guy like him (assuming it comes with a $400M check).
