  1. What would be a fair price? The Marlins got a pair of 50 FV prospects for two years of Marcell Ozuna. That’s about as good of a comp I can come up with.
  2. What we’d want to give up for Joc doesn’t really matter though. It’s all about what the Dodgers can get for him or need to get for him to help facilitate a three way trade. Cheap, young 3+ WAR OFs (even with only two years of control) don’t typically come cheap. Trust me, I hope they take Bummer & Fulmer, but the more I think about it that seems incredibly unlikely. And to be clear, I’m not suggesting I’d be excited about giving up Rutherford in a Joc trade, I was simply trying to propose that the Dodgers & Marlins might accept.
  3. I think if we land Joc, many here will be disappointed with the price. I really hope I’m wrong about that though.
  4. I don’t see the Dodgers selling low on Urias when he still has an option left and could easily help them this year.
  5. I just can’t imagine the Dodgers would take less than that. Rutherford is a fringe top 100 prospect. I’m more concerned we’d have to give up Basabe or Micker.
  6. Could something like this work? Dodgers Receive: Realmuto & Bummer White Sox Receive: Pederson Marlins Receive: Ruiz, Rutherford, & Flores
  7. Damn, I was open to a 3/$50M deal if we landed Machado. This is a fantastic move by the Dodgers and keeps space for a Kluber or Realmuto addition.
  8. This may be the most Caulfieldized thread ever. Pot stirring, crazy tangents, defensive rants, this one has them all.
  9. Maybe we get Machado, Joc, & Gio Gonzalez all announced at once ?
  10. Nice scoop...credit where is credit due.
  11. Spencer Adams has really fallen our favor with the organization huh.
  12. Lol...watch this dude be the next wetbutt.
  13. Share them...at this point I could use a good laugh.
  14. Just for reference, the Sox had nine guys in Fangraphs’ updated 2018 top 100. It will be interesting to see how many make the cut when they do their 2019 update. I do think Dunning is a huge miss here, unless they’re simply assuming he’s still injured. Regardless, the end of these lists are more or less pointless because the separation between most of these guys is so small. Adolfo, Basabe, Collins, & Dunning are all likely in the 100 to 120 range. Realistically they aren’t that much different than other 50 FV grade prospects ranked in the 70’s or 80’s.
  15. I just don’t get how we can add any more arms. The 40 man is full and we should at least give Hamilton a shot next year. If guys want to take minor league deals, then by all means go nuts.
  16. I understand what the pain & suffering of being a Sox fan does to one’s psyche, but that dude is one whiny little b****.
  17. Good stuff. I was looking for those splits before I made my post, but couldn’t find them on Fangraphs. Just seems crazy for it to be random luck, but honestly I have no other explanation so I’m sure you’re right.
  18. Hahn said at the Jay press conference (I believe) that the team was looking to add another starter.
  19. Fry was reallly damn good last year though. Like top 15 for both K/9 & FIP amongst relievers with 50 innings pitched. Obviously he doesn’t have much of a track record and has two TJS’s hanging over his head, but five cheap years of him could be incredibly valuable and helps the Dodgers immediately. Elite left-handed relievers typcially command big returns. That being said, maybe they prefer prospects that can be used in a potential Kluber or Realmuto trade. Just shocked the Sox would be willing to trade any of their top prospects for a guy with two years of control, especially after everything Hahn has said this offseason.
  20. See my post above. I just think the ones on this list (Hamilton & Johnson) plus Burdi are a different animal of prospect than the Burr’s & Thompson’s of the world.
  21. 100% agree. Those three guys are a cut above our other relief prospects IMO and warrant their spots. Guys like Ruiz, Burr, Vieira, etc. simply have too many question marks to have any confidence they’ll be high leverage guys and should be outside of the top in any decent system.
  22. Yeah, it kind of makes the Nova deal look bad in comparison, although he probably offers more certainty (less upside for sure though). I wonder if we’ve got Gio waiting in the wings on a Machado signing, because I can’t imagine they’d go into the 2019 season with one of those guys in the 5th spot if we spend $250M+ on Manny.
  23. Obviously we don’t know, hell it could have been Steverson. Just not sure why Tim completely suddenly changed his approach in the second half when it was working. A good hitting coach should be able to convince his players to stick with a good thing.
  24. Anyone want to make predictions of what a deal for Joc might look like? IMO, Jace Fry would be a fair cost and something that both sides might be open to. Bummer/Bush does seem light from the Dodgers perspective.
