  1. Yup, I really think a Harper signing could be happening soon if the Sox have hit Boras’ magic number. That’s probably not today, but I could see it before Christmas.
  2. 100%. To me, that’s clearly a tweet intended to make other teams think we haven’t some crazy huge offers.
  3. Here’s an interesting quote from a James Fegan article tonight:
  4. My point is if you’re afraid to sign a 26 year old free agent because the long-term consequences, the same should apply to the 29 year old free agent down the road.
  5. I hope Reinsdorf is watching all these Ken Rosenthal interviews just daring him to sign Harper.
  6. So you’re concerned that giving a 10 year contract to a 26 year free agent will prevent us from paying market value for a 29 year old free agent seven years from now?
  7. Yup, we have the luxury to wait out the 2B market and potentially come away with a pretty interesting player on the cheap id we so desire.
  8. Lol...no worries. I’ve had my fair share of misses, so just want to make sure I get credit when I finally have a hit!
  9. This is not accurate as there was a small contingency of posters here (myself included) that wanted to add him.
  10. The problem is there is no guarantee either guy hits free agency and with Trout you know all the big spenders will be involved.
  11. You keep saying this, but let’s use the Cubs as example. What team has the payroll flexibility & willingness to take on Heyward or Darvish? The Cubs being able to free up enough money to land Harper is the longest of long-shots. Boras isn’t stupid, he isn’t going to wait for a miracle and risk teams with actual interest moving on to Machado or other things.
  12. If Bryce goes to the Cubs, just pack this shit & move to Portland because this franchise is dead. That being said, the Cubs are not a realistic possibility despite what the cat says.
  13. Agree. I’d be open to a two year deal at the right price, but that’s starting to seem unlikely.
  14. Sox seem to be gaining some real momentum with these “insiders”. I’m feeling more & more optimistic.
  15. I thought he said after the 2019 season this morning?
  16. If the Sox add Grandal, it reflects they don’t believe Collins is likely to stick there. Personally, I think this type of move makes a ton of sense if that’s the case.
  17. 100%, a Grandal addition should be considered on its own merits outside of Harper & Machado.
  18. Looks they’re out of the Harper race! (Mostly kidding)
  19. He was just on MLBN and that’s what he said or seemed to imply. Obviously it’s probably complete bullshit, but sharing what was said.
  20. Nightengale saying we might try to add both Harper AND Machado. Suddenly he’s my favorite insider and I overlook all his previous missteps!
