  1. So fathom, you believe Ron simply because “why would lie” and because of any evidence / support he showed you?
  2. I know this is in jest, but have they really taked on any money this offseason? It seems like they’ve dumped salary if anything.
  3. I’m sure teams are eager to take on Heyward’s salary for a 2 WAR utility guy (admittedly with some upside).
  4. I said a lot of this same stuff earlier, but it got passed over with all the other nonsense in the trade.
  5. I’d guess they’re working on their new TV deal before I assume it’s related to Harper, but obviously I have no context.
  6. The Sox will not be pissed under any circumstance if they land Harper. A few extra fans at SoxFest means nothing in comparison to landing a whale.
  7. Which is fine if it’s after four years. I know Heyward got his after three years, but he also had a shorter contract than most are expecting for Harper.
  8. Me & Balta rarely agree, but I 100% agree with this. Boras still has time to work the system and try to increase Harper’s offers. Giving the Cubs & Dodgers a chance to get serious is an added benefit for them, but under no circumstance are they primarily waiting for the Cubs to trade off millions of dead salary in a Hail Mary attempt. Way too many variables for that to make a lick of sense.
  9. Because there are still two desperate teams involved. And even when there is one, his agent is Scott Boras and will use the threat of the Cubs & Dodgers to force that team to bid against himself. This Boras’s MO.
  10. Honestly, that seems like a pretty spot-on summary of where things probably stand at the moment. The Cubs not really involved (despite rumors to the contrary), while the Dodgers have some interest but are unlikely to do something crazy. Seems like from an dollars standpoint, we’re probably at the top right now. Whether that remains to be the case or he simply prefers other things is impossible to say, but I don’t know how people could be anything but optimistic at the moment.
  11. There is absolutely nothing to suggest either player would take less money to play for their desired teams.
  12. The Cubs haven’t even met with him from what I’ve seen. And I’m not yet convinced the Dodgers are eager to spend the money on him. I think this “he’s waiting on teams to free up money” narrative is complete BS.
  13. There was another Jordan Guerrero available in the draft, 300 pound pitcher from San Diego.
  14. I think it simply comes down to roster spots.
  15. What in the world does this have to do with Reinsdorf? These picks cost like $25k worst case scenario and I can guarantee you Jerry has not wasted one second worrying about these.
