  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) Also, I am going to be very interested to see who in Charlotte is mirroring Q. It almost has to be either Giolito or Lopez. Do we know who it should be if they kept the rotation intact?
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) 4 days: 77 starts, 3.77 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 102 OPS+ against 5 days: 67 starts, 3.26 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 99 OPS+ against 6+ days: 23 starts, 3.61 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 94 OPS+ against So very similar results on 6+ days to the standard 4 days. Thanks for posting! I guess that solves my concerns.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) Why wouldn't it be significant? If you are saying it's a problem, his actual results would seem a pretty good indicator rather than your recollection , and for his career, he has been just about the same, a slightly better ERA with 6 or more days rest (23 starts), than 4 days rest which would be the typical amount. I meant because of sample size, but apparently I underestimated how frequently this has happened.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) Has Q been bad on extended rest? Not sure, but the sample of his starts on 6 or 7 days rest would probably not be statistically significant. I'm just speculating on what I can recall historically with White Sox pitchers and the general routine nature of starting pitchers.
  5. IMO, it really seems like the Sox are trying to move Quintana before his next start. The last thing you want is for Quintana to throw a stinker before now and the deadline and give a potential buyer cold feet. And starting Quintana on seven days rest, based on how I recall Sox starters performing on extended rest, seems like a recipe for disaster. If I planned on negotiations going closer to the deadline, I would no doubt start Q on Friday. I just don't see how what his date last scheduled date before the deadline really matters. Maximizing our return for Quintana should be only priority right now.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) It wouldn't be fair to him or anyone to be on pace for the 30th or 31st. Sunday is the perfect day to schedule him at this point. Why isn't it fair? I'm not sure I get your angle here.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Not really. The schedule was set up that it didn't make sense to have him scheduled on the 30th or 31st, when it's crunch time. He's pitching on seven days rest now. I think a potentially rusty start is a far bigger risk than him pitching a day or two before the deadline.
  8. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:54 AM) I'll probably get mocked for this, but I don't like that Brinson is 23, with the clock running, and has had a May-esque cup of coffee in MLB. I know 35 PAs are stupid, but it just bugs me. Didn't like it with Moncada, Giolito or Lopez either. Give me Albies and some other Braves (Gohara and Pache would receive no complaints here). 20 years old in AAA, plus defender, low K rate, yes please. Although, I will ask, how's Brinson's D? All MLB says is that his speed can compensate for shaky reads and jumps, which sounds iffy. I'm sorry, but overreacting to 35 plate appearances is f***ing stupid. Most young guys struggle when they come and to expect instant results is ridiculous. And the 23 years old stuff is utter nonsense. You'd rather have Ozzies Albies and his very limited power potential over Bronson simply because of age? Bronson's ceiling is significantly higher and for a team not planning on being competitive over the next two seasons we should no doubt gamble on Bronson's upside rather than Ozzie's floor if we have the choice. And I say this as someone who likes Albies.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:33 AM) I was looking at the same thing yesterday night...heck, I would probably even take Dubon if I could get Brinson and Hader. We could really use a LHP coming back. I agree. The Brewers have a ton of interesting positional guys who could be a third piece. To me, Hader would be a huge get as the #2, simply because our need for LHP. Even if he doesn't make it as a starter (and I'd give him every chance to become one), he'd still be incredibly valuable coming out of the pen.
  10. Let's get this back on track. If the Brewers are the favorite, then a deal has to be built around Brinson. Add in one of their well regarded arms (Hader, Woodruff, Ortiz) and another interesting positional prospect (Diaz, Clark, Erceg) and I think you have a deal that works. To me, the dream return would be Brinson, Hader, & Diaz. That addresses multiple organizational needs while providing us with two major league ready prospects.
  11. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:06 PM) Spencer Adams isn't a favourite when people list their future rotations but he might be one of the safest bets. I see him as close to a surefire 4th/5th with the K% deciding if he ends up better than that. I 100% agree. I really think he can be a quality #4 caliber starter that eats innings. There's plenty of value in that.
  12. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS Spencer with 7 K's through 4 Was just about to post this. Kid has really stepped it up this year.
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:56 PM) Potentially, although I'd be hesitant to give up on Anderson at SS just yet, I mean we've seen him be a plus SS at the major-league level. This year has been a big setback alright. I'm just not sure the bat will play unless he's the SS defender we saw last year. Which is why I'd go: Anderson - SS Albies - 2B Moncada - CF
  14. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:46 PM) If Frazier gets traded, Davidson will shift to Third, and Delmonico will be the new DH. If Frazier doesn't get traded, we won't see Delmonico until September. JMHO Frazier will be traded before the Aug 1st deadline.
  15. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:06 PM) I love Brinson, but if he's coming, then the secondary pieces will probably be underwhelming. Yeah, based on raBBit's comments, I would expect Brinson and some underwhelming secondary pieces.
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) Plus McMahon is probably more of a 1B than a 3B anyway, so that further diminishes his value. I read something today about him potentially being athletic enough to play 2B, but I doubt that would be pretty, especially for a team that should/does value infield defense.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) Rankings aside, I'd argue that McMahon is the best prospect in that deal I'm really not a McMahon fan to be honest. His AAA stats scream outlier to me and he's never really been that good otherwise. From a pure talent standpoint, I'd argue Pint is the best prospect in the deal.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) Outside of Albies/Acuna/Maitan, I agree. Their pitching prospect depth is good but I'm sure we'll (rightfully) be targeting position players, and they may not give up any of the big 3. Zero chance we make a deal with them without getting one of their big 3 bats. Acuna may be off limits, but the other two guys are probably fair game.
  19. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:37 PM) Yeah, they never made much sense to me. Freeland, Hoffman and Gray look like long term starters there, and Chatwood, Anderson, Marquez have shown flashes. Which of those guys do you expect to lead a long postseason run? They don't have a single starter who has ever gone 200 innings. That's a recipe for disaster IMO. And given that Blackmon is a free agent next year and Arenado the year after, I'm not sure I'd waste a prime opportunity to make the playoffs and put my club in a position to succeed once getting there.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) I don't think the Rockies trade for Q. Are they just being used as leverage? Who do you think the favorites are at this point?
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:30 PM) Tapia, McMahon and Pint would be a good deal. With that said, I don't think Rockies trade for Q. Change Tapia to Dahl and you might have something there, but no way I accept a deal where Tapia is the best prospect.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) Agreed and the guy on twitter reporting the Braves interest isn't exactly listing big prospects as possibilities. What's his name and who is he listing?
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Carmen DeFalco‏ @CarmenDeFalco Some Q stuff; from source, "stating to feel like it won't be long. Braves making push since weekend. Brewers and Rockies, too." #WhiteSox Which is funny, because it's ultimately three small/mid market teams after him. I'll give Hahn credit, the Brewers & Rockies probably weren't willing to commit the prospect capital this offseason to add a guy like Quintana. Their fast starts and open paths to the playoffs have made them buyers. The Braves have obviously been interested for a while, but hopefully having a few other teams in the mix pushes them to offer something that we'd actually consider. Really surprised the Yankees are sitting on the sidelines for now if the rumors are true. This is getting really exciting and I'm starting to think the Rockies are the team that lands him. He looked incredible in Coors last week, the Rockies desperately need a starter who has the stamina to pitch deep into October, and their front office is a little bit crazy. With a couple key guys only under control for another year or two (Blackmon & Arenado), it's really now or never for them to make a big move with this core.
  24. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) I didn't know he played the infield. I didn't know Collins did either But seriously, I thought you were listing all the high end positional talent in the system.
  25. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:26 PM) Moncada Albies Anderson Burger Abreu Sheets Collins There's a lot of hope to find in there for a good up the middle defense and some dynamic bats / speed to build your future infield plus a DH. You forgot Robert bro.
