Hobson is in the process of becoming the controlling owner of the White Sox?

Again, could be Ishbia’s camp, could be the minority owners who are selling, could be the banks overseeing the transaction, could be the MLB executives approving the transaction. There are so many parties involved, this thing will leak to some degree. This is completely different than Ishbia buying a couple percentage points in the team when he wasn’t on anyone’s radar. He will likely be the majority shareholder when it’s all said and that’s a massive fucking deal. People like Greenberg will be hounding anyone and everyone to get the scoop on this because we all know this is happening. Jerry may not want this to leak, but this is so much greater than him at this point he won’t be able to control it.

Pallette? They have permanently moved him to being a reliever. I saw one article that talked about how they looked at how his arm recovers after starting vs. reliving and they felt pretty confidently the stuff was regularly with the latter.

Where did you see this common thinking?

It certainly could be dead arm or him trying to reign things in to improve his control. But untimely the hope with Eder was a velocity increase if limited to one or two innings and he’s currently going backwards. I’m not 100% writing him off just yet, but I don’t see what reasons for optimism there are with him.

Again, everyone is under an NDA until the purchase is approved by MLB. That clearly hasn’t happened yet.

I know it was a short appearance, but Pallette with a 50% CSW rate. He’s going to be up at some point in the first of this year if I had to guess.

Someone is going to leak. There are simply too many parties involved.

We knew he was an investor when he expressed interest in buying the Twins. And we’re talking about very different things. My guess is his previous shares were low single digits…we’re talking about potentially +50% now. It will 100% come at some point once the purchase is approved the league. Something of this magnitude will be impossible to control once NDA’s are no longer intact.

KW was once a good GM…unfortunately once analytics and modern player development & scouting tools took over the game he was left in the dust

I’m with you, but it’s hard to be optimistic about Eder right now. And I’m not a guy who typically overreacts to early season velocity or temporary drops, but him throwing 92 MPH is incredibly concerning given his challenges last year.

I feel pretty strongly it should be Baldwin even if Colson was healthy. There is just no reason to start his clock early during a 110+ loss season.

Definitely looking like a bust right now. I’ve pretty much lost all optimism unless he gets moved to the pen and the stuff miraculously comes back. It’s funny that Hahn actually did some of his best work those last few months of selling and KW makes one bad trade that highlights everything wrong with the org during that era.

Why can’t Baldwin exactly?

To be honest, I’d be super happy if he misses time. He doesn’t offer much if Robert is on the roster.

Right now I see 18 roster locks assuming no more trades: Infield (4): Vaughn, Rojas*, Vargas, Sosa Outfield (4): Robert, Tauchman*, Slater, Taylor Catcher (2): Lee, Thais* Rotation (4): Martin, Cannon, Perez*, Burke M.I. Relief (3): Smith, B. Wilson, Gilbert* S.I. Relief (2): Varland, Booser* That leaves three positional spots and four pitching roles open. These are the guys I think will be in the mix for those seven spots assuming that Benintendi, Ramos, & Berroa are all currently out of consideration due to health: Positional Battles: Starting SS: Mongomery*, Baldwin#, & Meidroth Backup IF: Baldwin#, Meidroth, Amaya, & Drury Other Bench: Baldwin#, Drury, Fletcher*, Colas*, & Gallo* Pitching Battles: Rotation: Nastrini, Iriarte, & Adams (Smith, B. Wilson, & Gilbert*) RH Relief: Anderson, Murfee, Leasure, Clevinger, & S. Wilson (Smith & B. Wilson) LH Relief: Ellard*, Eisert*, & Shuster* (Gilbert*) I’ve bolded the seven I think get those jobs plus Gilbert for winning the #5 spot.

I think it will leak out as soon as MLB approves the sale. Right now everyone is under a NDA and once it’s official there will be too many stakeholders (Ishbia, Reinsdorf’s, minority owners who sold, MLB employeee, bankers, etc.) for the news not come out quickly. Just not sure how long that approval process is.

He didn’t have a single called strike yesterday. Obviously it’s just one start, but if command is going to be a near-term issue for him then maybe start him off in the bullpen and reconsider things down the road.

The only caveat there is Thorpe didn’t pitch in AAA, so it’s possible they give him a bit more seasoning there if someone takes the fifth starter role and runs with it. That’s far more likely if it’s an actual prospect with upside than a swingman type. I don’t foresee that happening, but it’s possible nonetheless. I also don’t think the main five guys (Thorpe being one of them) are guaranteed roles until July. If guys don’t perform come May / June, I expect Iriarte, Adams, Nastrini, etc. to be challenging them for their starts. It’s absolutely critical this season to figure out who we think can slot into the two or three rotation spots alongside Schultz, Smith, & hopefully Taylor, who can likely hold down bullpen spots, and who should be traded to address other areas. I don’t want to it to be a complete revolving door, but we also have to let the best of the best get the shots because those will be much harder to come by next year.

Justin owns the PE firm, but just not sure what tray is implying by bringing this fact up. First, I don’t know what bringing a “private equity” mindset to sports ownership even means. Ishbia is going to rip the org to the seams, somehow increase its value, and then dump it for a big gain? Beyond that, him and his brother already have a track record of being quality owners of the Suns by spending big and trying to bring down the cost of the fan experience, which is the opposite of how a PE firm would manage things. Finally, Justin is a huge baseball fan and it’s very clear he’s in it for the long haul, which again goes against PE principles. Tray’s comment just doesn’t make any sense, but alas he is the same dude claiming Related brainwashed Jerry into going to Springfield to sell the 78 deal so maybe best to ignore his rumblings altogether.
