  1. Sox in regular season form with the 62.5% K rate so far
  2. Don’t believe so…just go to the MLB app and click on the watch icon at the bot and select the game and hopefully it should work for you as well
  3. For reference on the Orioles deal: Per Google’s AI, this deal structure allowed control to transfer to Rubenstein immediately while saving the Angelos ~$250M in capital gains taxes. I would wager large sums of money that this is the same playbook for Ishbia / Jerry.
  4. Any way to watch this game if you don’t have Marquee?
  5. I mean, they appear to be arranging a deal for Ishbia to buy out all the non Reinsdorf share holders. Theoretically it seems like Ishbia may own more of the team than Jerry a week from today. Obviously that doesn’t mean he will have control anytime soon, but Ishbia wouldn’t be making this deal if he had to wait out Jerry forever. We need that Ron Paul “It’s Happening” GIF right about now.
  6. That makes zero sense to me. Ishbia simply isn’t going to wait that long to get his team. No eventual owner has spent 9 to 14 years of time (he bought his initial shares of the Sox in 2021) to seize control of their target. He was already in process of shifting over to the Twins prior to Jerry reaching out and making some sort of offer to him.
  7. That lineup is worth watching…Meidroth alone is worth the price of admission.
  8. There’s playing Devil’s Advocate and then there is this post.
  9. And we literally just had an Orioles sale get done that transferred control before the controlling family actually sold their shares. There is a precedent here on how to construct a deal that allows an owner to effectively sell his team without incurring the major tax consequences that would happen prior to his death. I don’t see any reason why that wouldn’t be the outcome. Beyond the obvious what’s in it for Ishbia, what does Jerry have to gain by controlling the team if he has an already agreed upon transaction pending his death? Does he really want to oversee a rebuild if it has no bearing on his proceeds?
  10. I think things are mostly being kept on the hush until after the Feb 28th deadline. Jerry doesn’t want any of his plans revealed until the rest of the shareholders are addressed.
  11. Ishbia is passing on the Twins to up his stake in the Sox based on conversations with Jerry. There is some sort of plan in place which will become much clearer once he buys out the minority shareholders next week.
  12. That scenario doesn’t make any sense. Jerry doesn’t have that much leverage here. Ishbia could buy complete ownership of the Twins right now or could go through hoops, potentially wait for years, and then have to build Jerry a new stadium in order to get control of the Sox? It just doesn’t make any sense from a business perspective for Ishbia.
  13. Yeah, just watch the bats today and Berroa.
  14. Jerry approached him on this. There is 100% a bigger deal at play and him backing out of guaranteed control of a different club all but confirms that.
  15. Still bitter I missed out on that photo op with him at SoxFest. The kid is going to be an absolute monster for years to come. And now we can actually afford to give him the mega contract he will deserve when the time finally comes!
  16. I get what you’re saying, but I still think this all about the Reinsdorf’s exiting with the most cash possible. It’s hard to imagine they could do much better than selling to Ishbia with his wealth and local ties. My guess is Jerry saw Ishbia getting close on a Twins deal and floated a Rubenstein type deal structure to avoid losing out on a strong buyer. I think the only reason for a two step sale process is simply to avoid taxes. The $1.8M valuation all but confirms there is bigger play here and that’s Ishbia taking on control fairly soon.
  17. Just to be clear everyone, Ishbia is buying the shares of the non Reinsdorf owners. Jerry doesn’t really benefit he sells his shares to Ishbia at a later date.
  18. This isn’t a capital call, Ishbia is simply buying up the shares of all the minority owners. The White Sox themselves won’t end up with any extra cash.
  19. How does this raise capital?
  20. I don’t get this stadium angle. If the minority owners are selling their shares to Ishbia, how does this help fund a stadium?
  21. I read those articles when I got home last night at 2:30am. My take is NBB is implying that the Reinsdorf’s won’t be selling their shares right away, but I still believe Ishbia would need control of the org to exit from his Twins pursuits. I think this will all come out after the Feb 28th deadline for minority owners to sell their shares to Ishbia. This screams Rubenstein/Angelos type deal.
  22. The only question is how soon!
