Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
What in the world are you talking about?

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
It’s 100% happening and we should all be celebrating. I have no idea what Harold is talking about in regard to finding someone to fund a new stadium, but we are inching ever so close to being free of the Reinsdorfs and instead will have an owner that will likely be awesome. This s%*# almost feels surreal at this point…there is once again hope for the franchise.

Mike Clevinger is back lol
Sorry, while Tito had a variety of health issues, Carlos Carrasco was dealing with leukemia and was immuno-comprised at the time. So yes, Clevinger being reckless and getting COVID could have gotten his “teammate” killed. Not sure why that’s hard for you to process unless you missed the memo of the 1.2M US citizens who died from the virus.

Mike Clevinger is back lol
But what if he looks good for a few weeks in Spring Training? Would that change your opinion of him?

Mike Clevinger is back lol
lol…I’m worried about him? No, I’m just calling him a piece of s%*# human being because that’s what he is. You’re the one who has decided to make it your life’s purpose to protect the honor of men accused of domestic & sexual violence but ultimately not convicted of a crime from all these mean Soxtalk posters. And I love you downplaying him potentially getting his manager killed by calling it “doing some blow with strippers”. Not only did he put Tito’s life at risk, he lied to his entire fucking team about it. But again, you’ve dug into this hole of must protecting poor little Clevinger at all costs so none of this is all that surprising.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
No doubt and it’s fine to objectively say Getz missed on a trade without saying he should have “egg on his face” like it was some sort of obvious stupid move when said poster was a fan of it at the time. GMs should no doubt be held to a higher standard than a random message board poster, but it’s also not cool to use the benefit of hindsight to mock someone who you previously agreed with.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Thanks…I normally try to be an optimist and am no doubt more often wrong than right, but so far my takes have held true in that thread. Unfortunately I wish I was wrong on that one because it’d be a lot more fun having a RF we could pencil in for the next five years instead the 27 year old, AAAA OF we currently possess.

Mike Clevinger is back lol
lol…I love that you are pretending the only issue with Clevinger is the domestic violence accusations against his wife & child. How about when in the middle of a pandemic he lied to his teammates, went out partying with his buddy, and put his immuno-compromised manager at risk? Is that ok too since he wasn’t convicted of a crime in a court of law?

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
The point is you were all excited about acquiring Fletcher and now are saying Getz should have egg on his face as a result of the trade not working out. You are criticizing him for a move with the benefit of hindsight that you completely supported at the time of the transaction. You can’t have it both ways.

Mike Clevinger is back lol
Thank god his caped crusader has come to the rescue! Definitely not fair for any of us Sox fans to dislike the team signing a piece of s%*# human being.

Mike Clevinger is back lol
Thanks. That would make more sense, but definitely don’t see how he “dragged him into it” moreso than anyone else in this world.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
You literally gave props to Getz a year ago for trading said pitching prospect for Fletcher.

What now?

Mike Clevinger is back lol
My thoughts exactly. Outside of being a dude to eat innings, which we don’t really need, he provides zero upside to the org. And I’m the dude arguing a platoon OF in Austin Slater could have theoretical trade value. I just don’t see any team wanting, or at least giving up something for Mike, when they could have signed him in free agency the past two seasons on the cheap. I will say, this makes me concerned there is some other injury we don’t know about or Thorpe is in worse shape than we realize. It just feels like if everyone is healthy, we have enough arms to have a full OD rotation, even after the Bush injury. Perhaps this just an insurance policy and the plan is to cut him prior to OD if no one important gets injured.

Mike Clevinger is back lol
That’s my big beef. Obviously I think he’s a piece of s%*# person, but I just don’t see the point here. He must be more liked in the clubhouse than we think.

Definitely some parallels to the fist Major League movie.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
What would you be willing to trade for him if you ignore the current OF roster concern?
-
Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Slater played for the Giants that entire time and was incredibly valuable as a platoon player. They certainly could have traded him for value if they wanted to prior to last season. Even last year he was able to be moved twice. That being said, he shouldn’t be a major hurdle to move on from if a better alternative presents itself. I don’t think they will cut bait the first week of camp, but I do think they will have a short leash with him.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
I totally get that view, but I think it’s likely one of those things where Fuller told Getz “I can return this dude to form, go get him” and at the price of $1.75M it was worth targeting him early. I know we like to think all low level free agents are interchangeable, but ultimately you got move fast if you feel someone is undervalued.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
One of the two is one of the worst contact hitters in the minors and the other is Sosa. Who do you think is more likely to succeed in the majors?
-
Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Harold’s hatred of Sosa, but love for Vargas is quite something.
-
Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
That would be a horrendous trade
-
Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
I don’t think some people here realize just how good Austin Slater was against LHP from 2019 to 2023. His 137 wRC+ would rank 25th overall amongst players with 500+ plate appearances during this stretch. The rest of the list is basically big name stars. I totally get wanting to give playing time to youth, but let’s not act as if giving this dude $800k above the league minimum is some crazy stupid move when we just brought on his former hitting coach to oversee all of our hitting. If he rebounds to his previous form, he will return something of value, even if that won’t be a top 100 prospect.

Alex Speas (sold to A's last April) threatening to become
I got nothing but love you Caulfield, but my god do we need to get you a headline editor. And why is Alex Speas thread worthy at the moment?
