  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) I don't even know if I should post this....We have a new hire in our IT department, so take this with a huge grain of salt, buy she claims to know Samardjiza and said he will be traded in the next week. If you want him traded, I wouldn't get my hopes up. I cannot verify if this is accurate for a week. While I'd be surprised if the front office was that forward with Shark, it would make a lot of sense to put him on the market ASAP if you want to maximize your return.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Yes I would make that trade. I'm not one of the guys advocating trading Quintana though. If that were the package, I'd definitely do it though. Yeah, I'd hate to trade Quintana for obvious reasons, but getting two guys that are pretty much major league ready with tons of upside in Schwarber & Baez would have to make you consider it. For the Cubs, these two plus Vogelbach are somewhat spare parts. Doesn't mean they have to move them for Quintana, but I see some or all of these guys being used to acquire a frontline starting pitcher at some point. I'd say the matchup is pretty good between us and them. If we could resign Shark to a reasonable extension, then I would do the trade. We'd still have a 1-2-3 of Sale/Shark/Rodon with Johnson, Danish, Montas, & Fulmer in the mix for 2016/2017.
  3. QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) trade him back to the Cubs, get some of those hitting prospects they have Real talk, but would people here trade Quintana for Schwarber, Baez, & Vogelbach? Would the Cubs even consider this? Unfortunately, I think our best bet for a quick turnaround may be trading Quintana for a couple major league ready hitting prospects and resigning Shark to an extension. Just don't think we'll get enough value for Shark to move the needle.
  4. QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) Lol...fair? The Sox are last in almost every offensive category. It would be unfair to keep him on the team...along with a few others Let's be honest, the failures primarily fall on the players. Having said that, it's Steverson's job to improve guys' approaches at the plate, especially if they're pressing. He's clearly not adding any value right now, so there's nothing to lose, but I'm not sure he deserves to be the first guy to go. Flowers & Sanchez both deserve to go before him IMO. That's why I said fair.
  5. Mods, can we add a poll here? Would really like to see people's thoughts on this.
  6. At some point, the hitting coach has to be accountable for the epic failures of this offense. May not be fair, but there's nothing to lose at this point. I say shake things up and hope the offense responds.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Sale was cruising and had no high stress innings tonight. I really don't get pulling him with the way he was throwing. 100% agree. Not a fan of normally going that high on the pitch count, but he's also our stopper and would have very likely won us the game tonight if he kept Chris in. Any small sliver of hope of a turnaround ended tonight.
  8. There's really no reason to keep Steverson around at this point. The entire lineup is underperforming and it's not entirely due to a lack of talent. Half of the team has terrible approaches at the plate and part of that falls on the hitting coach. May not be fair, but there is no downside it firing him and maybe it finally wakes up these f***s.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) At this point the game is a must-win and you give Chris a chance to close it out despite his pitch count. I stand by this comment. Hopefully Eaton here can save our asses, but I think pulling Sale was an incredibly stupid decision.
  10. At this point the game is a must-win and you give Chris a chance to close it out despite his pitch count.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) They sold more tickets than usual this winter. School is out. It is supposed to be warm. The crowds are going to be bigger. And we've lost seven straight, which usually puts a damper on crowd size. However, upon further research, the answer was mullet night.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) Can Melky go on the DL so Thompson can get a chance I'd like to see Thompson get another month in AAA before I consider calling him up. He's had a history of short hot stretches followed by extended periods of failure. Come late July and he's still doing well, then call him up and find a way to get him some at-bats.
  13. Is there a promotion going on tonight? Why are so many people at this game?
  14. For the love of God, please get a run here!
  15. You can't have a fire sale when there's not much to sell. Shark & Alexei will have some value and maybe Robertson and the cheap bullpen arms could be moved, but there isn't anything worth a ton outside of the core (Sale/Quintana/Rodon/Abreu). Unless you go full-rebuild, which I think is a horrible idea, we're kind of stuck for the time-being. However, you got to find a way to get our young guys some playing time. That means Micah at 2B, Sanchez at SS (worth a look IMO), Thompson in the OF (not sure where/how), & Erik Johnson in the rotation. Maybe consider guys like Davidson, Saladino, Kevan Smith, & Beck depending on where they are at a month from now. The key is we need know if any of these guys have a chance of being 2016 contributors.
  16. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 05:17 AM) AZL roster has been updated. Alfaro, Nunez and Mercedes all on there as well as Yosmer Solorzano. Andres Sanchez is with Great Falls too. A little surprising that they're going to be so aggressive will all these guys. I though Micker was a one-off last year as he already spoke English, but evidently not. Blake Hickman listed at catcher is odd, though likely just a mistake, and they also have him on the 60-day DL. Alfaro's ago also appears to be incorrect as it was previously reported as 1997, not 1995. So 5 of 8 six figure signings from the 2014 period are now in the U.S., along with 2 of 3 from 2013 & 4 of 6 from 2012. It's crazy to think we'll finally have an influx of international talent in the system. Let's hope a few of these guys turn out to be more than filler.
  17. Chris Sale (6-3, 3.01 ERA) vs Colby Lewis (6-3, 4.37 ERA)
  18. Sox win 1-0 tonight. Shark with the complete game shutout.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) Jaye? I caught him in person last season and was far more impressed by Beck. Thought he might have a shot as another of our starter-to-bullpen guys. Don't forget we also got rid of Teahen's contract and saved $10million on that deal, so it also turned into $10 million. And received Zach Stewart who would eventually help us get Youk. Sucks we wasted value on dumping Teahen, but getting Webb & Jaye for Frasor down the road was excellent. If anyone is b****ing about that particular trade they are clueless.
  20. First step in the right direction. Carroll has had some success out of the pen, Noesi not so much. With Junior Guerra and the starting options in AAA, Noesi was more than expendable. Next move is to send Sanchez down to AAA. I still like him as Bonifacio's replacement at some point this season, but he needs to get his confidence back with the bat before I use him in a backup role. Bringing up Micah seems like a no-brainer to me, although he clearly has his detractors here. Last but not least, I'd really like to move on from Flowers. Obviously it's a much more difficult move to make given his familiarity with the pitching staff and the lack of standout replacements. Having said that, I see nothing to lose at this point and would happily role with a Soto/Kottaras tandem for a few months.
  21. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Sanchez has officially hit a wRC+ of 0. 0. Over 102 plate appearances. 0. .141/.200/.174. He can still go negative correct? Didn't Leury have a negative wRC+ last year?
  22. I literally hate anyone with the last name Mercer after the Ron Mercer fiasco.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) Say what you want about Danks ... He's the LEAST of this lousy team's problems. I for one respect the guy coming back from injury. He's an OK pitcher in my book. The eye test tells me he competes. I don't give a s*** what stats say about Danks. You must be blinder than Mr. Magoo if he passes your eye test.
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) No idea how he scored on that Looked like the throw in bounced off someone's glove away from the plate. Otherwise, he would have been dead to rights.
  25. Lol at that 2nd run right there!!
