  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2012 -> 08:17 AM) Awesome. Hopefully he can get going again. Yeah, he'll be interesting to follow. Glad to see he'll be a starter too.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 21, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) I think Samarj is crazy enough and cocky enough that in the heat of action he was headhunting. A lie detector test would prove it IMO. Greg, I still think you're a troll, but this statement is so out there at least it made me chuckle.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 20, 2012 -> 08:14 AM) ODog is toast, but look at it this way, who would you rather have play 3B for an extended period, Escobar, Dan Johnson or Hudson? I think most sane people not related to the first 2 choices would go with Hudson. I don't understand the White Sox organization's love affair with Escobar. Danks looks better than him at the plate. Escobar shouldn't be on the major league roster IMO. He's a good, not great defensive player who can't hit. His defense is a luxury that we can't afford with a four man bench. I'm hoping that once/if Morel is healthy we send down Escobar and keep Hudson as the backup infielder. For now, I have no problem giving Hudson a trial run at 3B. Even below average production from his bat would be a significant upgrade from what we've getting from Morel and Escobar.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) the numbers were posted teh other day. Robin is using his against lefties more than anyone ever has. Those numbers were for Guillen and Cox. Wasn't Ohman on the Cubs? He's had to play for at least one other manager. Regardless, I don't like how Guillen used him and I don't like how Robin is using him. Ohman is a loogy in a seven man pen, we should be able to utilize him at the most opportune times. Having him face mutliple righties in the same inning is a recipe for disaster, yet I keep seeing Robin do this and oftentimes in close games.
  5. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) I love baiting you morons Is there a reason this f*** hasn't been banned yet? Isn't him admitting he's a troll the nail in the coffin?
  6. QUOTE (Disco72 @ May 18, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) Don't you mean "especially since Robin will continue to use him less against righties than any other manager has"? First off, that doesn't mean Robin is using him correctly. Second, I don't know if that's even true.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) If you were within a mile of me, I would seek you out and punch you in the face. POTY!
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 18, 2012 -> 11:45 AM) Oh God, his comments were hilarious and dead-on. I could care less about Hawk, I just hate Samardzij.
  9. I hope Samardzija takes a line drive off the skull today. No one disrespects the Hawk.
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) What's wrong with Sanchez? .313 average, .382 OBP. Granted he doesn't have much power, but at least he isn't one of the hitters with inflated stats at BB&T. And he doesn't turn 20 for another month. As you said he doesn't have a lot of power, but he's got plenty of time to develop some.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:46 PM) As for the OPS stat, you can use whatever stats you'd like...just make sure they account for his on-base challenges... He's a god damn 23 year old Cuban. He came to this country with almost no discipline, yet he's already made significant progress. Last year as a 22 year in AAA he walked in 8.9% of his PAs and posted a .364 OBP. That's f***ing great for a young, aggressive hitter like himself. His on-base percentage will grow as he continues to become a more selective hitter. Again, I'm not sure what peoples' beef is with Viciedo. For some reason people like to ignore the progress he made last year.
  12. QUOTE (shakes @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) Agreed. His bat speed is special and his pitch recognition is improving. The inpatience around here can be laughable. He is 23 and has a ton of potential. He is the last guy to consider trading. Agree completely. Plus we have one guy in our entire system (Trayce Thompson) with the potential to be a three or four hitter and he's a huge longshot to make it. And let me correct myself before someone else does, Viciedo now has 324 career at-bats. He's basically had half a season in the majors. I'm not sure what people were expecting from him at this point.
  13. QUOTE (jamesdiego @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) I'd rather have Stults than that bum Ohman Agree, especially since Robin will continue to use him against too many righties.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) He has. And I was also referring to his minor league production. His service time coming into this season was .123, so no he really hasn't. And what were you referring to with his minor league statistics?
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) It wouldn't be his first hot streak..he does it every year...he did it in 2010 when we were rounding out that 26-5 streak or whatever it was... The kid has 210 career at-bats, yet you talk like he's been on the team for years.
  16. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 17, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) It's not the rightness or wrongness that makes me want to call things like this out. It's the impatience. Everybody in their right mind knows you give a 23 year-old, notoriously slow starter with high upside more than a month before you call for his removal. I don't care if you're in win-now mode or not, you still give Viciedo a shot. Thank you. This is a 23 year old with 210 career at-bats. What you see now is not what you'll be getting in the future. The kid is talented as f*** and will only get better with time.
  17. So Peavy's option is insane, but Hamels' extremely long and expensive deal makes sense? Let the Yankees suffer the consequences of signing Hamels long-term, not that Jerry would anyways. As for Hamilton, if every team is scared of signing him to a Pujols/Fielder deal then maybe KW would have some interest. However, some team is likely to offer him a monster deal and there's just too much risk with him. And even if the offers are shorter, we're still unlikely to be the highest bidder.
  18. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 16, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) He's probably not all that different. He walks a lot of righties. Would have to be used exclusively against lefties. Ohman dominates lefties, but can't get righties out. Where do you get the minor league splits from?
  19. For the people on the "let's hope we suck so we can sell" kick, what exactly do we have to sell and how much are we really going to get for them?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) This. Youkilis does not fit where the Sox are going. Where exactly are the Sox going? You keep saying we are rebuilding which simply isn't true. I know you follow our minor league system and there's very little talent down there. A true rebuild would take years upon years of losing, which I know you are against of as well. I'm sure the front office feels the exact same way. This team is trying to balance developing young talent with winning now. Sending Morel down to AAA to figure things out and acquiring a cheap stop-gap might help us toward both goals. I'm not saying Youkilis is that guy, but it's way too early to rule out a move that helps the major league roster this season.
  21. How long before the Sox call up Septimo and DFA Ohman?
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 16, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) I guess concerns over Danks and Humber's performances and Sale's elbow are just musings. But what rotation doesn't have similar concerns? Tell me this, how many AL rotations would take over the Sox?
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2012 -> 07:19 PM) All I'm saying is that Stewart had something like a 7.88 ERA against all MLB teams not named the Twins at the conclusion of 2011. Why would you trust the same guy who recommended both Stewart and Frasor (and Frasor pitched about as "averagely" as possible, about like David Riske when we had him)...wouldn't you get a second opinion? If we plugged in Reddick into our outfield (dealing Santos to the Red Sox instead) and had the luxury of sending Viciedo down right now, we'd be in first place and have the depth to move Dunn eventually and maybe even get something decent in return. I'll agree with Marty on one point. How likely is it that we compete in 2013 or 2014 when you're going to be in process of "on the job training" for 2-3 starters at the same time, and nobody knows for sure how long Sale's elbow will hold out? Was Paddy even in the organization when the original Ejax trade was made? Even if he was, I think it's a huge reach to assume he made any reccomendations on either Stewart or Frasor.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) This is the part where you got hung up on. I know Marty has an agenda, but why do you think this team has no chance to win?
