  1. Moncada has long Covid and lost a lot of power. Not even remotely comparable situations.
  2. Nope, in the top six percentile for both bat speed and sprint speed. As I mentioned in a previous post, his current year results are down because his launch angle has been fucked up. He’s been barreling balls pretty well and has career best performances so far in chase rate and walk rates (his biggest problems in the past) along with an improved K rate. I know it’s fun to overact to small sample sizes, but the underlying data suggests his offense will regress to the norm at some point.
  3. Did NBB ever signal that Jerry was going to facilitate multiple transactions to increase their ownership stake from like 5% to 35%? I haven’t seen him really comment on the logic there, but rather just downplay on anything happening soon which is probably what the Reinsdorf’s want out there until a deal is final.
  4. For people who think this will take 5 years or more, the question is why? What do the Reinsdorf’s have to gain waiting so long? Again, other than Jerry being bored, there is no rationale for keeping their stake in the team when they have a motivated buyer who would likely blow all other alternatives out of the water. And even crazier is this notion that’s Jerry’s sons will somehow hold onto the team for an extended period of time. Again, why? And how would they be able to afford running a team when they minimal accumulated wealth? They will almost certainly have to sell the White Sox to keep their cash cow that is the Bulls. Jerry has telegraphed this for years. The only difference is that with the Ishbia’s already on board and currently the largest shareholders (based on deals that Jerry helped facilitate), it’s clear as day that the transition plan is already in the works. It’s only a matter of time before this happens unless you believe all stakeholders will act against their own best interests moving forward.
  5. It’s absurd and it’s clear that people like NBB just spit the messaging that Jerry wants made public. The simple reality is Jerry is the boss until a deal is finalized between the Ishbia’s and Reinsdorf’s or he dies. In either case, it’s wild to assume that will be 5+ years.
  6. I was one of them…Harold was the other
  7. Which makes zero sense for all parties outside of the “Jerry is bored and wants to oversee a rebuild”. And in that case, no idea why the Ishbia’s would want to wait around and risk Jerry fucking up their investment even further.
  8. He is a flawed free swinging hitter with elite power who can play CF. If you can’t connect the dots on why that may still be super valuable, then there is no point in debating this further. And you say he can’t adjust, but coming into today his chase rate was the best of his career, his BB rate was the best of his career, and his K rate was the best since 2022. The only thing holding him back right now is a fucked launch angle, which history suggests will revert back to the norm. But hey, keep lumping him in with Eloy Jimenez because that makes all sort of sense.
  9. He’s actually fielding though and can draw walks. That’s more utility than Vaughn will ever offer.
  10. Is the 27 year old CF that had a career 125 wRC+ and averaged 4.75 fWAR per 600 plate appearances prior to last season special for some reason? Probably because he’s a super elite athlete who has a long track record of being highly productive in the majors despite his flaws.
  11. He played outfield in college for at least one season…it’s not remotely like the Vaughn / Sheets situations.
  12. I strongly prefer DePaula or Hope as a centerpiece over Arroyo. Not sure who the second piece would have been in a Reds hypothetical but they would have had to been pretty good for me to pick that deal over the Dodgers one.
  13. Brooks & Chase are just straight up ball players. They are the type of players good organizations have and who typically outperform their physical tools.
  14. Vargas’s swing just doesn’t look like right to me. Feels like he’s off-balanced quite a bit and routinely underneath the ball. As such, the quality of contact has sucked. At least not chasing stuff outside the zone, so there is still some reason to believe he can turn it around, especially as the weather warms up.
  15. Need a miracle run against Crochet and then just need to hold them.
  16. That’s who they have been asking for? Seems like him or Hope would need to be in the trade. Still think that’s an obvious move for the Dodgers to make if the other pieces are minimal (such as Outman).
  17. Lot of ground balls too. He’s looks good out there today.
