  1. Look, I’m not blaming Tony for this decision, but I won’t give him a free pass for humiliating his player publicly and telling the other teams it’s ok to throw at his guys. Doesn’t matter what level of sports this is, manage your shit in the clubhouse and not in the media. And never, under any circumstance tell the other team they can throw a 90+ MPH projectile at one of your guys. I hate defending a guy like Law, but if that’s what he’s referring to then I’m in agreement with him.
  2. Dan Clark playing insider for an org he doesn’t even cover is quite humorous. It’s too bad he didn’t retire from Twitter like he said he would.
  3. Nothing Keith Law said is wrong though? I’m not even blaming Tony for this, but under no circumstance does he warrant defense for how he treated Yermin after that 3-0 homer. That was beyond stupid / shitty, but probably unrelated to what’s driving this current decision.
  4. So let me get this straight, Yermin posted “El retiro” on IG, then play a game with the Knights, and then announces he’s actually retiring? Why did he even play tonight?
  5. Rutherford has literally zero value at this point. To be honest, I doubt he survives the offseason on our 40 man roster. He literally doesn’t bring a single plus tool to the table.
  6. Mieses & Mendoza have been hot.
  7. Much more competitive bullpen market. Every team will be looking to add relief pitching, less teams need a 2B.
  8. With Sheets & Burger’s emergences, trading Yermin makes all the sense in the world.
  9. Fully agree. Given that Nick & Yoan aren’t the most reliable guys from a health standpoint, Escobar could get plenty of playing time in a reserve role. Just depends if he prioritizes winning above maxing out his earnings or getting everyday playing time.
  10. He may not get both a starting role and the chance to win a championship. The 2B position is pretty loaded at the moment.
  11. So thinking about the 2B trade market and trying to understand which teams might be in the mix for a 2B. First thing that stands out is the position is absolutely loaded, especially amongst contenders. Of the 15 teams that could theoretically be buyers, I’d argue that ten are pretty much set at 2B. Of the remaining five teams, I’d argue that all but us all hard “maybes”. The Dodgers have a young, former blue chip prospect at 2B who is currently hurt. They also have a variety of other guys who could play the position in a pinch. I doubt they’d look for a 2B upgrade, but it’s not entirely impossible. The Giants also could theoretically look for a 2B upgrade if they’re worried about La Stella, but my guess is they pass on a 2B addition given they too have other options. The Red Sox just lost Arroyo, but it doesn’t sound serious and they also have Kike. They could add a 2B but it’s probably not likely. That leaves the Yankees as the final team who could add a 2B (to push LeMahieu to 1B), but it’s more likely they add a SS and move Gleybar over there. Therefore, it’s pretty apparent that we are the team in most need of a 2B upgrade and are unlikely to face another team so desperate to do something stupid. If we’re willing to wait it out, I truly believe we should be able to get Eduardo Escobar on the cheap. Like the rumored reliever price for Escobar is probably legit. CWS: Garcia (1.1) - MUST BOS: Arroyo (1.3) / Kiki (1.9) - MAYBE TBR: Lowe (2.3) - SET TOR: Semien (4.1) - SET NYY: LeMahieu (1.5) - MAYBE HOU: Altuve (3.3) - SET OAK: Lowrie (1.5) - SET MIL: Wong (1.8) - SET CIN: India (2.2) - SET NYM: McNeil (0.5) - SET PHI: Segura (1.6) - SET ATL: Albies (2.4) - SET SFG: Solano (0.5) - MAYBE LAD: Lux (0.8) - MAYBE SDP: Croneworth (3.2) - SET
  12. Fangraphs has his value at $26.1M already this year.
  13. Yoan Moncada is currently ranks 30th of qualified hitters in terms of wRC+ at 136. He’s also ranked 29th in overall defensive value and 17th in fWAR. He’s currently on pace for a 5 to 6 win season. His ceiling may be higher simply because he’s one of the most physically gifted players in the game, but he’s hands down been our best position player and one of the best in baseball. The hot takes in this thread about him are an absolute abomination.
  14. Escobar would also be an excellent reserve infielder next year if willing to sign up for such a role.
  15. They do but with Burger on the bench it really doesn’t matter at this point.
