  1. We still got nine outs to get at least one run as long Tony doesn’t throw away more of them
  2. For those that say managers don’t have a large impact, they typically don’t if they don’t routinely insert themselves into the game. Bunting in the 6th inning against a pitcher incapable of getting outs is just plain dumb and may end up costing us. Let’s hope the hitters battle back in spite of Tony’s horrible in-game decisions.
  3. Timmy & Nick will have to overcome the horribleness that is Tony La Russa
  4. I am so amped up for this game. Just driving up to the stadium is a surreal experience....brings back so many good memories and so excited to take my twins to their first Sox game. Let’s get a fucking win boys!
  5. Perhaps Giolito wants to throw to Collins? No doubt Yasmani at C & Yermin at DH is our best offensive alignment, but if Collins has to start at C for whatever reason I’d go with Grandal at DH over Mercedes.
  6. Depends on what the reliever trade market looks like and how many sellers there are, but I don’t anticipate him costing a top 100 prospect or anything of that nature given he’s a pure rental. I previously threw out the idea of Lambert & Tyler Johnson, two top 20 org prospects that should help the Angels in the next year or so. I really like both of those arms, even if Johnson is struggling, but Iglesias is a near perfect fit and someone we’d have a solid chance of extending after the season IMO.
  7. I think answer will ultimately be Raisel Iglesias, but we’ll have to wait for the Angels to sell. Right now they are six games out of a wild card spot and are 4th place in their division. I think they’ll eventually become sellers and Iglesias is worth the wait IMO.
  8. Not to derail, but any updates on Cespedes? He is still planning to play stateside at some point this year correct?
  9. He’s getting the job done offensively. His ISO of .118 isn’t that much worse than the bulk of our hitters and I still think there is some room for improvement there. Defensively he’s gotten way better since his early season struggles, but he’s still making a bit too many mistakes. I’m optimistic his defense gets much better with time. He’s a nice little player who compliments the rest of the lineup perfectly.
  10. Reasons for optimism today: Skubal is really bad against RH hitters (.363 wOBA, 6.50 FIP, 5.24 xFIP) The Sox are the best team in baseball against LHP (.361 wOBA, 134 wRC+) The Tigers suck against Giolito (.593 OPS over 111 plate appearances) Lucas is coming off his best three game stretch (12 K/9, 0.81 WHIP, 2.56 FIP) Lucas’ velocity is also improving (94.7 mph over last 3 starts, 93.5 before that) Reasons for pessimism today:
  11. Not sure where the expansion efforts stand with Dave Dombrowski jumping ship. Is that a sign of waning optimism or him just pursuing a better move for himself? The other thing I struggle with is the AAA team just built a brand new stadium for like $70M six years ago that is very close to downtown Nashville. Not sure that would be a deal killer, but I’d imagine it at least adds some complexity. But I’d personally love to see an expansion team in Nashville and think it would be better than most alternatives.
  12. Yes, he saw me say I was at the game and he was literally in my section like 15 rows behind me. I sat with him for an inning and tried to buy him beers multiple times but he shot me down. Jack is a good dude though.
