On White Sox Talk Podcast, Chuck is predicting the Sox sign both Semien & Conforto. I know that doesn’t mean much, but he usually isn’t this optimistic with his predictions.

I will bet my life’s savings Semien doesn’t get $200M.

How are these guys in the same category? Correa & Seager are getting $300M contracts and are in a completely different stratosphere.

Since 2019 Semien has a 129 wRC+ against RHP and a 127 wRC+ against LHP.

Name one person who suggested Seager & Correa?

You are really giving Parkman a run for his money with all this unfounded pessimism. Why would Jerry hold a grudge against a player used in a win now trade because that player suddenly developed into something really good? Like do you even think through what you’re saying anymore?

I totally agree, but losing Eloy & Robert really hurt in that regard.

So here’s how Steamer would directionally project our fWAR from the 2B, RF, & SP5 spots for each of these options: Option A = 7.5 wins Option B = 6.9 wins Option C = 8.2 wins I would have gone option B myself, but surprisingly it’s lowest for projected wins and requires the most prospect capital to execute.

How is Semien getting $200M?

I could easily see something like that being our offseason with a few relievers mixed in.

Jack, please don’t take this the wrong way, but you’ve clearly never had a normal corporate job. No company in their right mind thinks leading on their customers in a good business strategy. Like I’d be fired at my job on the spot if I proposed something so dumb.

This is just stupid. The Sox will add a $100M contract sooner rather than later. I’m not optimistic they’ll ever add a $300M contract with Jerry as owner, but $100M is a low barrier to cross. Hell, there is a legit chance Giolito agrees to an extension that surpasses that amount this ofxseason.

???…look bro, I’m not going to defend the Sox when it comes to Machado, but they definitely had the high offer of 8/$250M on the table well before the Padres entered the mix. They then added two option years on top of that to counter San Diego’s $300M deal, which was insanely stupid to think he’d accept that, but for a long period of time it was us negotiating against ourselves with the Phillies focused on Harper. The Sox had a very serious offer for a stretch of time, but completely botched it in the end. Regardless, they were prepared to spend a boatload of money on a free agent despite your conspiracy theories that say otherwise.

I honestly can’t recall if they actually made a token offer or not. It almost felt like when we lost out on Machado we were beyond our cap with Harper and never made a legit offer.

Paying him SS money to play him at 2B the next 8 to 10 years seems like a poor allocation of resources. I also don’t love the fit given his splits against RHP.

I agree the trades are definitely in the White Sox’s favor and unlikely at those prices, but I the overall plan could work if increase the cost for Marte, reduce the prospect return for Kimbrel, and kick in more money in the Keuchel deal.

I wish Jon Heyman would write his own tweets instead of letting the agents post whatever PR bullshit they want.

Who is the RF? I’m assuming the others are Machado, Wheeler, & Tanaka? What about A-Rod’s rumored 10/$190M back in the day?

Yeah, my view with starting pitching is you got to plan for a major injury to ensure you’re setup for success come October. Cease is the perfect #4 starter heading into the 2022 season because he’s already damn good, could get even better, and provides insurance if one of your top three guys go down. I don’t want to take any chances on Keuchel or a wore down Kopech making important playoffs, which means adding another TOR starter to pair with Giolito & Lynn.
