  1. That’s fair, although didn’t Detmers have significantly better results in college? Either way, I still think a prep SS makes so much more sense given where our system is at now and how teams currently value prospects. If the right college arm slipped I wouldn’t be against taking him at 22, but my understanding is this draft is super deep in prep SS’s and if we could somehow double-up with two of them in rounds 1 & 2 I think that’s a total coup for a system in desperate need of young up-the-middle talent.
  2. We don’t know what the Sox are capable of as the pandemic clearly caused Jerry to go cheap. That being said, I fully expect the Sox to resign Lynn and move Kopech into the rotation full-time. A 1-5 of Lynn, Gioltio, Kopech, Cease, & Keuchel is still very strong. If we can afford a RF and some bullpen upgrades, we should run away with the Central next year (health permitting). This season doesn’t need to be an “all-in” year.
  3. You’re scared of Detroit’s offense because of two prospects? Other than Baddoo, what other young foundational piece do they have in their major league lineup? Meanwhile, the Sox have Anderson, Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn, & Madrigal for the next three to six years. They have some promising young pitching no doubt (which can be volatile), but they got to a ways to go with the offense to catch up to us.
  4. There is zero chance Kopech gets traded as he’s literally one of the most important pieces in the entire organization.
  5. A safe college pitcher would suck so fucking much and make me question what in the hell we’re doing.
  6. I’m all for trading from the system to fill out holes, but you can only cash-in your assets once and you can’t risk having nothing of value to trade in years 2022 to 2024. I’d be looking at rentals primarily as I think the prospect cost will be substantially less. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to add someone like Gallo, but what in the world is he going to cost? Trading away Crochet weakens the bullpen and takes away a potential SP option in the coming years, but I’d probably be willing to move him in such a deal. The problem is they will want more and once you start including the Kelley’s & Ramos’ of the world you’ve quickly taken a bottom five system and made it the hands-down the worst in baseball. Even if you don’t care about a second wave, you’ve greatly reduced your ability to make trades in the future. I think we’re way better off adding Escobar, Marte (if the Marlins are unable to extent him), & Daniel Hudson than selling the farm for a controllable guy.
  7. Black Widow was pretty damn good IMO. There were a few things I didn’t love about it, but ultimately a nice start to this new phase.
  8. Rodriguez? At a bare minimum he should be considered a top 5 White Sox prospect after this season.
  9. It’s tough, because we can’t straight DH, but you also don’t want to see him get hurt in a meaningless minor league game. I’d probably rotate between LF & DH and hope for the best.
  10. You sell pieces Bieber & Ramirez in the offseason when there is potentially a bigger buyer pool.
  11. I think Eloy is ready for AA
  12. Because they know it’s coming?
  13. I don’t think that’s the case, but obviously them using him at DH isn’t a great sign.
  14. Vaughn is untouchable IMO. He’s put up a 199 wRC+ against RHP over the past two weeks (31 PA) and his K rate has been cut in half during this stretch (26% before, 13% during). SSS no doubt, but it’s clear he’s starting to figure them out and is becoming an absolute monster with the bat. Throw in the fact he can play a passable LF and you have a middle of the order fixture for the next five years. He ain’t going anywhere.
  15. Drank three Truly’s and then had three glasses of red wine and now rebating what I’ll drink three of next...
  16. But we should be playing Billy Hamilton against righties!
  17. Mendoza at .292 with an .804 OPS
  18. Mieses now at .300 with a .781 OPS.
  19. They are definitely getting better at talent evaluation, but still need to place a greater emphasis on youth. So far that’s been the case under Shirley.
  20. Ramos may be our #1 prospect by the end of the offseason.
  21. I think he’ll still be fine as a back of the rotation starter next year (no doubt overpaid), but we’ll need to manage his innings to ensure that 2023 option doesn’t get picked up.
  22. I pray we take some prep infielders in the draft and build another wave of prospects after the current Kanny crew.
