Zero tools? Do you actually understand what tools are? And JFC, he’s a former HS pick (a raw one no less) who has less than 600 professional at-bats. It should surprise no one his results have been poor so far. That being said, this idea that he can’t get better is just plain stupid.

What took so long? The kid is 21 years old and doesn’t even have a full season of at-bats under his belt. Most people would give him some time to actually develop, but obviously all you need is one metric and a SSS to write a kid with legit tools off.

100% agree. Blake has an uphill battle in front of him unless he adds some serious muscle or radically changes his swing.

To Parkman’s point, it just doesn’t seem like there is a plan and it’s been this way for years.

I feel like we start every game with two or three strikeouts.

Lopez better bring it tonight. He claims he identified a mechanical issue right before his last start and the weather is no longer a possible excuse. Time to deliver a quality start.

The real question is how do you expect them to ever get better if you barely use them against LHP. Just seems so dumb.

100% agree, trade deadline deals are far more focused on short-term production than efficient asset utilization.

4/15 Games
Still disagree here. The marginal value of a win come July 31st is worth far more than a potential win during the offseason for teams in the hunt (as it can be the difference between making the playoffs and/or winning a World Series) . Teams are emphasizing short-term production over efficient spending / surplus value. Furthermore, the trade deadline is a fairy restricted market and prices reflect that. Teams that are desperate to fill holes come July typically pay a premium because sellers have the leverage. The classic surplus value calculation doesn’t change, but market factors dictate a less efficient trade will likely be required. The value of a prospect should not change simply because a team is competitive as that prospect’s value is still based on what other teams would give up to acquire them. The trade deadline simply forces teams to pay a premium to acquire what they need at that point in time in an inefficient market.

Trades at the deadline are not entirely based on surplus value and saying otherwise is flawed or disengenous.

Lol...I was just about to post this. How can our front office / Getz be ok with this?

Sox acquire Alex Colome For Narvaez
I mean, that’s ultimately what will make or break his value. I feel like the last year or two the reliever market at the trade deadline has been supply heavy which has limited returns. I could be wrong (plus it’s still early), but it sounds like this year could be much more seller friendly.

Sox acquire Alex Colome For Narvaez
His extra year of control is an arbitration season which basically means it’s a team option. That can only make him more valuable.

Sox acquire Alex Colome For Narvaez
People are really sleeping on Colome’s potential value. He’s not a dominant reliever like Chapman or Kimbrel, but dude has proven he can handle the 9th with the best of them. There is a ton of value in that steadiness / certainty and I truly believe he’ll generate a very nice return (say low end top 100 prospect) if he’s still pitching well come the deadline.

Maldonado was pretty popular around here due his defense. Given our young staff, that’s the guy I really wanted.

How long before a Cease promotion?
I agree. Best case scenario, if he’s sporting a sub 2.00 ERA after 8-10 starts I could see them calling him up at the beginning of June. Otherwise, I think late June / early July is likely.

Tax Day: Sox v. Royals (P: E. Santana)
I think it was pretty much split down the middle, but it was pretty much a love / hate type trade.

20 K’s for Kanny’s offense tonight, that is fucking ugly. Curbelo win 4 of them and I must say he’s starting to look more and more like a bust.
