  1. Machado may want to join the Sox after this shellacking. Who wouldn’t want to play with young studs like Adam “4 for 4” Engel and Dylan “8K” Covey? He might even take less money to avoid future embarrassments like this one.
  2. Zavala is the lesser prospect and a bit older, so you could probably gamble a few weeks with him in the major league mix and not worry too much about any long-term consequences. I wouldn’t do anything that could possibly disrupt Collins’ development as he is potentially too important to the rebuild.
  3. Can you even trade a guy who is on the suspended list? He’s going to be out until late August.
  4. Zavala would have made more sense than Collins IMO, but obviously that’s not happening given he’s hurt.
  5. That’s what I mean. Aren’t there certain supplements that count as PEDs? I just think people should hold off blaming the front office for somehow not knowing and wait for all the facts to come out. Sucks he’ll be out half the season but that falls on him primarily.
  6. Wow, I did not know that. Do we even have an open 40 man spot? I forgot that Smith was outrighted to AAA and that we only have two catchers on the 40 man roster.
  7. I’m amused that people are blaming Hahn for this. We don’t even know kind of PED he was using. It could be something like Adderal for all we know. The fact that he’s still playing right now makes me believe it’s on the lower end of the bad spectrum.
  8. We’re going to sign another expensive veteran C because our current is suspended for 80 games this year?
  9. Wow, that really sucks. I guess it’s good we have a guy like Smith waiting in the wings. The situation could obviously be worse.
  10. That really sucks. I’m really getting sick of Engel in the outfield and this doesn’t help.
  11. You’re one cheap fuck if that’s all you’d pay Coop for performing a miracle.
  12. Did Covey always throw this fucking hard? If not, could he suddenly be a thing? His last three starts in AAA were phenomenal.
  13. I really don’t want to regurgitate old arguments, but it has nothing do with him winning or playing in front of a packed house and everything with him developing relationships and feeling comfortable with the people he works with. That was the play and more often than not I think it works. It still requires you paying fair market value and there are obviously no guarantees.
  14. Yup, that was exactly the argument for trading for him. It was about improving our chances of getting if we offered the same amount of money. And I have no problem if people don’t think the price of acquiring him was not worth it, but it is kind of annoying when people purposely misrepresent the underlying strategy.
  15. Offended? It’s just not funny at all and it’s honestly kind of embarrassing a major newspaper would employ that dude for so long but whatever.
  16. They really got to find a spot for him in Winston-Salem. The numbers are starting to get ridiculous.
  17. Rosenbloom is a total joke. Always hated his stupid “your table is ready” line. What a douche. No idea how he is still around.
  18. Offensive decline? His K is rate down, BB is rate up, ISO is up. If his BABIP weren’t 65 points down vs last year there would be no mirage of decline.
  19. First off, this is not a fair assessment of the situation. By the end of the 2019 we should have potential building blocks in Moncada, Anderson, Jimenez, Collins, Zavala, Rodon, Lopez, Kopech, Hansen, Dunning, Giolito, Stephens, Burdi, Vieira, Hamilton, Fry, & Bummer (amongst others) already on the major league roster. Davidson, Sanchez, & maybe Abreu could still be around. This doesn’t account for any free agents we might add and potentially a guy like Madrigal in this year’s draft. And who knows, Robert might move pretty fast. Point is, we are NOT waiting on all the A+ ball prospects to start competing and the mere notion is absurd. More likely than not, we’ll package a few of those guys to acquire a cost-controlled star to fill a hole and let the cream of the crop have their crack at one or two spots. Good teams do introduce young players each year, just can’t have a lineup full of question marks. If this team isn’t serious about competing for at a very minimum for a Wild Card spot in 2020 then things have gone horribly wrong.
