Thanks for sharing Jimmy! Pretty much as I expected outside of the Dawkins miss, which really isn’t much of a surprise. Does this mean that Romy Gonzalez is starting the season in extended spring training then? A bit surprised he didn’t make full season ball given he can play CF and hit reasonably well for Great Falls last year.

Don’t like Fangraphs? I read their articles all the time and visit the site on a daily basis. I just don’t take what they say as gospel and am willing to call them out when it’s clear as day they didn’t put in a solid effort into something (like their 2018 White Sox top prospect list) or if I don’t agree with an assumption in an analysis. It’s amazing to me that there are several posters here (many of them really smart guys) that immediately come running to protect their favorite Fangraphs writers whenever there is any level of scrutiny.

I haven’t read this article yet, but their top prospect list last year for us was complete garbage and the opposite of well-informed. Just because they write for Fangraphs doesn’t mean they should get a free pass if it’s clear they didn’t do their homework.

Are we going to rock a $70M payroll then? Because with those guys, Tim, Moncada, Madrigal, etc. that doesn’t leave a ton of positions to spend money on.

We’re going to need a big bat to pair with Eloy while the next wave of young guys are developing and there is no better option than JDM. I get spending big on a DH isn’t always the best utilization of resources, but the dude is a top 3 hitter and we unprecedented financial flexibility and very little to spend it on. Unfortunately everything is black and white to Balta and he’d rather die with a boatload of cash than use it in a slightly less than ideal manner.

Where else are you going to spend big though? We can afford multiple sizable expenditures as long as the durations are reasonable.

We basically have to sign JDM at this point (assuming he doesn’t agree to an extension as well).

Also, Hahn recently stated in an interview with Chuck when asked about all these extensions that we’d simply go the trade route if free agency doesn’t have what we need. Like obviously that will be our only alternative, but it’s clearly a shitty one and that will cost us most of our prospect depth.

That is a ridiculously team friendly extension for the Red Sox.
