  1. What could they offer them though? Their system has taken a huge hit and they don’t exactly have a plethora of expendable bullpen arms to trade.
  2. Former top 10 prospects in the group you are referring to: Yoan Moncada, Carlson Rodon, & Lucas Giolito. Former top 50 prospects: Reynaldo Lopez & Tim Anderson. Those guys combined for 6.5 fWAR last year. They can be significantly better next year...it’s really not that crazy of a notion.
  3. Balta actually thinks we need four starters in the top 15 of AL Cy Young voting to compete.
  4. Lol...not sure my wife would see it the same way!
  5. Because the Braves are a potential competitor in the playoffs. The Sox are about as safe of landing spot as they come. I’m not suggesting they should just give him to us, but I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if they took less from us than someone like the Braves. Context does matter.
  6. I can’t believe how quiet things have gotten. Like other than a random tweet from Hector Gomez, there is literally nothing right now. This is beyond brutal.
  7. Why the fuck does ARod’s opinion matter in all of this?
  8. If I had to come up with a fair trade, I’d probably say Jace for Joc. Fry was elite last year but has the two TJS’s hanging over his head. I’m not sure how I’d feel about that trade, but I think the Dodgers would definitely consider it.
  9. Yeah, that extension makes it much better from the Reds’ perspective.
  10. That’s a decent extension all things considered.
  11. MLBpipeline has the 2B prospect the Reds gave up in the Puig trade as the 6th best in all of the minors. Fangraphs has Long as 50 FV guy. That’s a decent pair of prospects to give up for a team that’s still not very good. Gray better be agreeing to a semi-friendly extension.
  12. I don’t think Bummer is a run-of-the-mill lefty. He’s got pretty damn good stuff and had excellent peripherals last year. He’s also major league ready, pre-arb, and with multiple options. I actually think a lot of teams would have interest in him. Carson is obviously a total wild card with limited value, but given how poorly we’ve handled him I wouldn’t be surprised if there were teams eager to get him with their coaching staff and see if they can turn him around. I agree, it doesn’t feel like enough at face value, but then again I don’t see how Hahn makes this move unless the price is in his favor.
  13. That deal is terrible lopsided in favor of the Dodgers and makes zero sense for the Pirates. Bryce Bush is not a centerpiece for anyone of significance.
  14. Pederson & Alonso definitely need platoon partners. Jay historically has been playable against LHP. With a four man bench, it’s going be hard to carry more than two platoon partners anyways. Based on our current roster, Engel & Rondon would seem to be the best two guys for those roles. Not sure if we can even keep them both on the roster with Sanchez guaranteed a spot and Leury still in the mix.
  15. Looking at their roster, I can definitely see the Dodgers being interested in something built around Bummer & Fulmer. Young, cheap, controllable, bullpen arms with options make perfect sense for them. Bummer can help right away (or serve as depth) and Fulmer is a former 1st rounder who could potentially take a major step forward with a change of scenery. Maybe they see something in him that a little AAA time can fix...god knows we didn’t do him any favors with his development. Whether that’s enough or someone could (or would) beat that I don’t know. But I’m not sure the Dodgers really want to send Joc to the Braves or another potential playoff opponent. Regardless, the Dodgers will have to move a pretty decent player if they want to add Pollock. Maybe we get somehow get lucky and we can snag Joc on the cheap.
  16. At this point, I don’t think there’s any chance he’s there. Just doesn’t seem realistic to me. Having it announced beforehand or during would be good enough for me.
  17. I don’t know, I’m ok with Vlad Jr & Eloy earning their spots.
  18. Many publications still had him as a top 20 prospect at the time of the trade and he had already stated to lose velocity. Regardless, I’m not banking on a rebound from anyways, there is another former top 10 prospect I have far more confidence in and that’s Rodon. Plus Lopez was a universal top 40 prospect and I’m expecting big things from him.
