8/3 Sox @ Phillies 6:05 CDT WGN Detwiler vs. Nola

Um, this is gonna be bad for ye olde Pythagorean W-L. Detwiler and a depleted bullpen. Where's Bill Lumbergh when you need him lol? We need more people to come in to work on Saturday.

  • Again, why are you playing for one run with a tired bullpen?  Ricky just needs to get the hell out of this organization.

  • I agree with you all about Renteria. The two things he most controls, his decisions and the team's fundamentals - are both failing horribly. There's no basis for him to continue as manager of the Whit

I think after games that go 12+ innings, teams should be able to call up a 26th man, similar to how double headers work. I guess it may be logistically hard to get the player there overnight though.

Abreu night at The Bank!

The pitching matchup heavily favors Philly so much it's unbelievable. But baseball is dumb so... you never know.

Yup. Detwiler sucks though, but you never know.

But the Sox are heavily favored to under-perform.

I remember Bobby Abreu going to the Angels and literally working with hitters and preaching to them to work every count and take their walks. Quite a few hitters numbers jumped up if I remember correctly. No lie, I would take him right now in this org as a hitting instructor in some capacity.

Most other teams work the count far better than what we have seen. You have to see the pitches and study the pitchers.

Slider. Low. Away. SHOOOOOCKER

If Detwiler can toss 4 innings, it will be a miracle.

Idk how the Sox hitters can be so impatient year after year. It is almost like the org doesn't give a fuck about walking and making the opposing pitcher work for his outs. That's not even SABR stuff that's baseball 101 shit.

He doesn’t have a choice after last night

This is one of the few times I agree with RR: 100 pitches no matter what today

Once again, no concept of the strike zone. It’s disgusting how poor their approach is.

It always cracks me up when Stone talks about pitchers wins.  Get out of the stone ages, Stoney!!!

Have a feeling this will be a painful night to watch as a Sox fan. This lineup can’t touch Nola and it will be a miracle if Detwiler can get through any lineup 3 times without blowing up.

Yea but the Sox try super duper hard

Adam Haseley is a really good comp for Steele Walker.

I think it just comes from his playing days as a pitcher. It is a bad stat, but it is the number one thing a pitcher cares about, especially in that era. Hell, he won a Cy Young in large part thanks to a huge win total.
