I've literally created a FrankenThread!!!! Love it Love it Love it!!!!!
-
How many views on this thread already? I'm only showin 12 and that can't be right.
-
Halladay is worth at least Poreda/Richard as a basis plus maybe 2 others. But only with a 2 year extension.
-
I am now thinkin a great package cold be centered around Poreda/Richard/Allen. But we don't pick up that terrible salary attached to Alex Rios. Never never kow what KW will do.
-
Sorry, the pitching core we have at present excluding trade candidates (Buerhle, Danks, Floyd).
-
Balta, I share everyone's concerns that he may be an over worked horse but you gotta get return on your investment. Just thinkin 2 more years to keep this core together until the end of 2012.
-
But Halladay has to agree to an extension. :-)
-
Balta, didn't mention that if KW were to look at him then an extension would have to be discussed to make it worth it. Maybe to more years until the end of 2012. Just sayin cuz I think he is gonna rock until he is at least 36/37.
-
What was he in high school/college? Starter or reliever?
-
I tend to agree but as noted before he is turning 33 next year. But I am also optimistic that at least KW will pick up the phone and start a dialogue maybe centered on Poreda/Richard. That is a starting point. A lot going against Toronto (Yearly 4th place finish forecast for at least another 3-4 years minimum, Halladay getting older and wanting to be on a winner, they are losing money, etc). Just possibly the right ingrediants that may make Ricciardi ponder it enough. Plus Chicago s pretty close flight time to Toronto which is Roy's permenant home. I know I mis-spelled the last name before, sorry.
-
OK, I know there are multiple threads already in some fashion but this might start the do all be all Doc Halladay discussion. JP Riciarddi now in an interview quotes that he will listen to offers for Doc but must be blown away to deal him. Link at bottom of quote. OK let's roll with the comments and try and get Doc!! And while that doesn't mean Ricciardi is ready to sell Halladay off to the highest bidder, it sure does sound like he's willing to listen. "We have to see what makes us better," he said. "Obviously, if people have interest in Roy Halladay, they'd better realize there's a steep price that's going to come with it." http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/11925937/rss

Was going to mention that. Becks did move the runner over so good job for the rook.
-
OK I see your point but not at the depth you are trying to imply. Will take me a few more months of growing with the farm system to understand the true value of each and every team and their roster. But what is also true is that not even a deep farm system is a guaranteed recipe for a WS ring. Look at TB. They have stocked up for years and although they made it to the WS they have not cashed in yet. And there is also luck to everything. SOme players that wallow for year in AA/AAA can have a miraculours break out season in the bigs. Anything can happen. BTW, only addressing the farm, not the veteran core that provides run support.
-
You are probably right this won´t happen. But another point lost in all of this is that the Sox farm is much better than in previous years and we could afford to give up a package of 5/6 prospects and still keep fielding competitive team at the A/AA levels. This year´s draft was also quite good.
-
Beck, on a side note maybe just maybe we could discuss instead of Poreda Thorton which gives them a solid late innings set up man. Dunno just throwing out some other combo.
-
Yup agree 100% there. Nobody (Not even the Angels) are gonna offer anythin close to Richard/Poreda. Plus our AA talent smoked everyone in the Southern League. So AZ should have a n idea of which prospects they might consider and which we would offer to expand the trade scenario.
-
Scen, as quoted before I think Dana Eveland is the only player even in MLB right now. None of the other 5 have done anything at all. With Richard/Poreda you already have 2 lefties who are on the verge of being solid long relievers or starters.
-
Beck, I posted a few days ago that even a 5 to 1 package of our prospects would almost be even or better than what AZ gave up. As noted only one of those prospects panned out into something and even then he is not doing all that great. At least the principle of the Peavy package includes 2 MLB ready pitchers in Poreda and Richard. You give up a lot for Haren but you get a legit Ace back.
-
Forget about Harden, he is starting to lose his stuff.
-
I know I said I would wait to post again but I like the idea of going after Webb and trying to nail him down to a 2 year extension until the end of 2012. That give us a solid core through the 4 position. I know Buerhle has said he want to hang it up after 2012 but you never know. Clemens (I know I know), Pettite, and others all came back from the retirement game to put in extra seasons. Plus Buerhle will only be 33 at the time. I think the DBacks are gonna blow up their popcicle stand this summer and we should take advantage. 1. Webb 2. Buerhle 3. Danks 4. Floyd 5. Richard/Poreda or who would be left from this trade.

I´m over that tantrum but passion aside the defense really needs a kick in the butt. Can´t be mental midgets half the time and concentrate the other. Some pluses today. Gotta keep bringin up Beckham. This kid is really tearing the cover off the ball. All his balls in play are line drives and all over the place. Is he eligible if he plays the rest iof the year for ROY? -

You know this kinda gut wrenching loss if it turns out to be that way is the ugliest way to drain a team and deflate the sails real quick. I really hate to say it but with the character we saw in the first 2 months Ozzie has gotta be real careful now with the guys. We just flat out beat ourselves today. Floyd pitched ok but after about the 4th inning he seemed listless and ran out of gas. The defense made a couple of good plays but yeah back to the main point Alexei is killin us with that lame half hearted effort on D. Best thing to day was Slayer´s continued growth with the bat. He may crack .300 real soon (Even on the next homestand). Hope we bounce back tomorrow, real ugly game today. -

Unfortunately he is still a decent option with his bat so I gotta wonder where the heck Ozzie got that raving analysis about him being a fabulous SS. Bet everyone is wanting to know where he got his facts right about now. -

Oh well, 2-4 today unless we get some 9th inning heroics. Will be a real tough one but hey this is how the team´s character gets defined, by either pulling this one out or bouncing back tomorrow. Go Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
