  1. Are the majority of his K's on low or high pitch counts? Does he put away batters just with the FB and the movement it has or also his secondary pitches (Curve/Slider??)?
  2. I was also thinking top 15 and the players we drafted in the alter rounds (High Schoolers for example) have a good chance to develop good upside. All in all the farm is doing very well.
  3. Would u rate our farm system now in the top 15 or bottom 15 with all the imrpovement since last year?
  4. Thanx CanofCorn, I pretty much feel it is going to really take some team getting fleeced for Ricciardi to pull the trigger. On some Jays boards I have seen fans say get the haul they want and then once Halladay becomes a FA sign him back to Toronto. Wild huh??
  5. Why would his upside limit him from making BHam early next year? If he does well in high A wouldn't that be enough for AA starting next year??
  6. Hi all, not much going on. ON MLBTR they reference a new article from ESPN Insider (I know I know) saying how KW will at least make a bid. Not much else going on. Really slow week. Anyone have the Insider account? Just looking to see what they say in a paraphrase.
  7. Did KW even ever look at Jackson before he was traded?
  8. Kewl, I did not expect to last this long or grow this large to be honest as I did not and do not see the Sox as players in this sweepstakes.
  9. Mods I am curious as this thread has potentially 2 weeks of life left in it. What is the largest or longest running thread? By largest I mean in number of views and posts?
  10. Even with Chapman not signing on with Jaime Torres, he faces a lengthy wait for OFAC (Treasury) to certify he is not funneling money to Castro, then FBI and immigration checks. After all that is done he will probably be granted a VISA and residancy. Then he is free/eligible to negotitate a contract. I think it will be until the Winter MLB meetings before we hear any solid news on his possible destinations.
  11. I am overseas and could not catch it. What was the outcome?
  12. Hey WSF, that is the key balance that is the most important factor in this trade scenario. Whether KW and then JR think this combo of any potential package for Halladay fits the strategy of what they are trying to do (It confuses some of us because we think it is a combo of Win now and build for the future). I would rather not myself as I have said now and committed to this that we mortgage the farm for 1.5 years of Halladay. No matter what the cost. Not at Ricciardi's price. Would rather wait for home grown talent, Free Agency, other trades, or even the Cubans. I would rather do it like the Rays and build from within.
  13. I think the fact that he has not signed with Jaime Torres who helped bring Viciedo and Ramirez to the Sox does not bode well for us long term, as well as his expected salary demands which some say will be in excess of 40-50 million. To that I say no thanx.
  14. Oh sorry, I wasn't referring to that Balta, I meant in the Sox's preferred method of playing ball, Getz's value lies in the way he focuses and does not make as many mistakes as Ramirez. I think his importance to the team that way is way undervalued.
  15. Let's say Getz winds up even hitting .300 and has an OBP of around.350-360. That is kind above average I would think.
  16. Thunderbolt I gotta ask but I am pretty sure what you will say. If it came down to including either Alexei or Getz as tradebait who goes in ur opinion? Gut feeling tells me you will say Getz. But I think under the small ball concept he has as much upside as Alexei and will steal more bases for you and sure as heck not make as many mental midget mistakes.
  17. If you put Beckham where do you put Getz? He has played well enough to be an everyday player.
  18. Very minor prediction considering the grand scheme of things but anyone feel Getz hs finally started to blossom into an everyday player? His OBP is .350ish and he has 13 swipes in 14 tries. I still can't tell if he is better suited for the 6-9 backend spots or the top of the lineup. Any thoughts? I think he will solidify his defense in the 2nd half and reach a .300 BA offensively. I like his tenacity and hard nose style. He fits small ball to a tee.
  19. Balta, is it worth moving this to its own thread? Can u as an admin do that?
  20. Pump they are in the US but awaiting clearance from the US Treasury (OFAC) to make sure they are doing bogus financial things like trying to send money back to the Cuban gov. Also they are waiting for background checks to finish and verify their ages and also work permits to be able to be declared Free Agents and then look for teams. The pitcher Yadel Marti is who I have suggested we go after but there is no way to gage whether he is truly MLB ready. He has tons more experience than Viciedo but the transition is very rough. Time will tell.
  21. How about Betemit straight up for Teahan??
  22. It's been pretty quiet thhis past weekend and early today. Think the ASB is cooling off rumors for now. This may heat up again Thursday/Friday heading into next week when it should really get interesting. Don't think anything will happen with us anymoe but KW has been known to spring out of the woodwork with interesting offers.
  23. His fastball looks to really pop in the catcher's mitt with force! But he does tend to display wildness at times in the count. Needs to work on the curve as it hangs a bit to the outside on right handed hitters. But he hit mid to upper 90's easily and 100 mph once. Real upside on being a true power pitcher if can harness that control 100%. Look out. Hard to compare him Strasburg from the left side but I tend to think his control is not as polished and he needs to work on the secondary pitches.
  24. Fathom, I know McCarthy shot up thru the system quickly but what I can see of Huddie's upside reports and the box score his K rate is much higher. McCarthy was a sinker baller wasn't he? Or am I making the wrong comparison?
