It's a rarity that a player selected in the top 10 rounds does not sign. Teams absolutely do the diligence before making the pick due to the potential of losing the slot value. Yup. It was a fine pick at the time. As you said, the secondary stuff isn't good enough and the fastball didn't gain any of the projected velocity. Such is life when dreaming on prep arms.

Law really likes Dalquist. Advanced strike thrower already with future projection. Noted that if he got to college and had a normal development path, he saw him as a guy that would be top half of the first round pick in the future. Really excited about this one.

Perhaps. I watched a lot of Madrigal on W-S streams this year as well. The quality of contact I'm seeing lately does seem better. He's been pulling the ball much more lately too.

Madrigal has certainly looked better lately, but this wrist narrative is off IMO. He broke his wrist in February of 2018. Before he was even drafted. That was like 16 months ago.
