  1. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 27s #chisox told teams they "aren't afraid to keep peavy.'' that's not the same as they are keeping him. Expand
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:41 PM) That MLB Brazil one starting this thread Hayes just said he's in Cleveland corroborating the Brasil account.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) So either a.) Hayes is off a bit b.) Rienzo made his way from Charlotte to Cleveland in the past hour or c.) Andre is a dirty, filthy liar. Rienzo probably was supposed to keep quiet, hence the deleting of tweets.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) Everything seems to say that is a fake twitter account and everyone tepeatig it is being duped. Huh? Rienzo's?
  5. Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 46s #WhiteSox have a contingency in place if they were to trade Jake Peavy: Andre Rienzo is in Cleveland. Expand So is he in Charlotte or Cleveland? Methinks Andre was supposed to be quiet about this which is why he deleted some tweets.
  6. Kiley McDaniel's Top 30 Prep Prospects for the 2014 Draft Class: http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html I'd love me some Gatewood currently.
  7. Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 2m Love reading all these smoke signals teams are giving reporters on Jake Peavy. Hahn is sitting back, playing good poker. Expand
  8. Andre Rienzo ‏@andre_rienzo 2m @mcwickey28 @FutureSox @SoxNet people text me and call me and i dont know nothing about !!! Details
  9. FutureSox.com ‏@FutureSox 3m If the @MLBBrasil tweet is correct, and @andre_rienzo will be called up for Tuesday's game, that could indicate a trade is close. Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Andre Rienzo ‏@andre_rienzo 43s @FutureSox @SoxNet no believe in that because i dont know about hahaha Hide conversation
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Rienzo called up? People saying this on Twitter. Yep.
  11. Gordon Edes ‏@GordonEdes 14m Told it was Greinke-like deal--3 prospects, one being Middlebrooks//RT @jbigs79: @GordonEdes do u know what the asking price has been? Expand
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) On the other hand, the pool of possible suitors could increase in the offseason. It's pretty big now, in a seller's market, for the playoff stretch run. In the offseason he will be under team control for less time then he is now, while there will also be free agent options and other trade options. You also are banking on him pitching well for the rest of this season and not hurting himself. Peavy is gone before tomorrow's start.
  13. Going to post this lovely response by everyone's favorite larry from SouthSideSox for those that are freaking out that Peavy won't be traded. http://www.southsidesox.com/2013/7/29/4569...in-to-tampa-bay
  14. Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 1m For those questioning the GM regarding reports they won't trade Peavy: Have any of you played poker before? It's posturing, all of it. Expand
  15. Peter Gammons ‏@pgammo 50s Arizona has been shopping Ian Kennedy and Jason Kubel, which wouldn't free enough $ to get Kevin Towers' fave Jake Peavy Expand Er, maybe Gammons means would free enough money?
  16. Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 1m Was told by exec whose team interest in Peavy that Peavy wants to be dealt, likes #chisox but sees rebuilding, wants to pitch for contender Expand
  17. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2m Correction: Peavy owed less than $20M. Deferred signing bonus already paid. Problem appears to be more talent coming back to CWS than cash. Expand
  18. QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) I wouldn't be surprised to see Peavy stay. His performance just doesn't meet the price. End of the day, he has pitched 80 games for the sox since 2010. Not exactly the history you'd like when dealing for an arm at the bounty the Sox are requesting. Factor in his age, his injury history and his contract (which to me isn't that bad but it is still more then a team may want) and you don't exactly "wow" potential buyers. At the same time, even if you're asking for the moon and not likely to receive it, you still don't just dump him for bodies to put in the minors. There has to be something of value there because Jake can add value to the White Sox. It may be meaningless value this season. Who knows what is in store for next season and beyond, but I just don't think you dump him without something(s) of value. If money is the hold-up, eat the money. If that is the difference between A and B prospects, you buy those guys. I don't have the info in front of me but hopefully someone can reference it for us, and that would be where Peavy ranks as a type A or B guy. I'd imagine B, but you never know with that goofy scale. Right now, I think Hahn may or may not be asking for too much (after all - it is rumors) and at least to me, he doesn't command the respect to be taken serious on things. So I think guys like Beane are willing to call his bluff and see what happens. They're willing to walk away from the deals, but we don't know if Hahn truly is yet. We'll know exactly what kind of GM we have once the deadline hits. The compensation system was completely revamped with the new CBA. There are no more A's or B's. The White Sox would have to extend a qualifying offer to Peavy in the neighborhood of 13 million. If he didn't accept it they would get a compensatory pick at the end of the 1st round.
  19. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 21s #Athletics, #RedSox seemed most likely for Peavy, with #STLCards also possible. Talks stalled, but much can change over next two days. Expand
  20. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 41s The Crain agreement between CWS/TB had to be re-done for Commissioner's office earlier today given the complicated nature of the deal. Expand
  21. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) LOL. Great post. Badler the voice of reason. Colin Wyers, but yes.
  22. Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 56s RT @cwyers Your periodic reminder that it's better to judge teams based on what they do, not third-hand reports of what they say. Expand ^^^
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) It's ridiculous to think the Sox haven't been offered at least one good prospect for Peavy. Make a freaking deal, idiots. They will.
