With McCann to the Yankees I'd be inquiring what it would take to nab Gary Sanchez.

I wonder if this means Castellanos is going back to 3B.

Fielder to Texas for Kinsler
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) It doesn't really matter. As soon as Miggy starts to decline, they're done. Eh, no. There is more to that team than just Miggy.

Miggy back to 1B, loads of money saved. Extending Scherzer?

AFL in Review
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:03 AM) If by "legitimate" you mean he is very knowledgeable, I agree. He's also got writing talent at a level rare in the Sox media sphere. What I was getting at is, he's got a piss-poor attitude, and it makes reading his pieces unnecessarily painful. Also, I'd disagree he's "at the top", as I think the combined knowledge of FS's writers is much stronger. But I'm obviously and admitedly biased on that part, haha. His snark and outlook is similar to mine which is part of the appeal. I also like Keith Law which might explain things. Jason Parks is great too.

AFL in Review
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Heh. If anyone wants the bitter, Larry version of an AFL review, you can read his article here. That is one angry dude. I think he fashions himself as a sort of Keith Law of the White Sox system. But without the sense of humor. larry is legitimate. Out of all the White Sox forums/sites/blogs, I'd put him at the top as far as minor league/prospect assessments.

Offseason Top Prospects lists
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 09:03 PM) Yeah, but if they were high on Myles Jaye BEFORE last year, why are they not high on him this year? Also, surprised they have Semien so low. I figured him to be in everyone's top 3. Kevin Goldstein was high on Myles Jaye. He now works for the Astros. This is a Jason Parks list.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) Dan Hayes: "What that means is anyone not named Jose Abreu, Avisail Garcia, Sale and Jose Quintana can be acquired in a trade, those executives confirmed." Jose Quintana will be here next year. I don't buy that Quintana isn't available.

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 6, 2013 -> 11:24 AM) Turner's scouting report sounds a lot like Tim Andersons, so not sure I would think about taking him at 3. Gatewood fits in the mold of Hawkins and Zapata, being athletic with big power, but we are pretty loaded with those type of guys (all power, no contact). Jackson could be intriguing if he could play third. I think the pick is one of those three, but a lot of time to go. I would like to see Jeren Kendall in the second round. Anyone that makes contact first is appealing to me. Turner is a much better prospect than Tim Anderson with little doubt he will be an asset at SS. I doubt Anderson is graded at having 80 speed as well. I like Jackson plenty and if there's a shot of him continuing to catch, his value is even greater. Gatewood could be a monster but with the swing and miss in his game I'm not sure I trust the Sox with his development. As far as drafting they need to take the BPA even if it's a pitcher.

Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) Which you can blow through, at last count the Cubs were at $7.9M for the year. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/08/cubs...-next-week.html If the organization doesn't mind paying taxes on overages and having strict spending limits on the following year's international class.

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) Are the Marlins still against drafting HS players in Rd.1? I kind of assumed that they were thinking that Rodon and Hoffman would go 1-2 leaving us with the choice of HS Hitters or everyone else. It's obviously way premature, but something I wondered about. The Marlins aren't against drafting HS players at all in the 1st round. Up until just recently that was preference actually. 2011: Jose Fernandez 2010: Christian Yelich 2009: Chad James 2008 Kyle Skipworth 2007: Matt Dominguez All prep 1st round picks. Which is why I could easily see Kolek or Gatewood going number 2.

Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) The terrible record of the Sox means they have a very large pool of money to spend on international signings this year, something >$10 million IIRC It's probably closer to 5 million. Last year's top 5: 1. Astros $4,943,700 2. Cubs $4,557,200 3. Rockies $4,213,800 4. Twins $3,908,600 5. Indians $3,636,900

Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 09:26 AM) #1) Granderson, when fully healthy and producing well, is a better player than De Aza. When he's at the point he's been the past 2-3 years, he's a marginal upgrade that will cost $10-14 mill a year more than De Aza. #2) His game is exactly like Dunn's. People who act like they are upset with Dunn because he's a DH or 1B are crazy. People are upset with Dunn because he's an all or nothing offensive player. Granderson has a bit of speed, but that doesn't do any good when he's striking out 170+ times. #3) I have strong, strong doubts as to whether or not the Sox will actually be involved. It's also sounding more and more like he will receive a qualifying offer costing the signing team a pick.

Sox likely to be quiet in free agency after Abreu
Sounds about right. This team isn't likely to be competitive this coming season. No need to for any dumb/exorbitant contracts. Make some trades, build internally, sign some scrap-heap guys that can be flipped at the deadline and go after some free agents next year and beyond.
