Yeah, Pods at DH sounds awful. I'm hoping we can resign Thome or make a run and Blalock.

That's why I mentioned the salary being an issue. I would rather have Swisher and his career .360 OBP and career .460 SLG rather than Pods and his career OBP of .340 and career SLG of .380. Those stats are more important than steals for a leadoff hitter. Swisher is a much better player than Pods.

Do we have any idea how much we will need to pay him in arb? I thought it was a small enough amount where he wouldn't definitely accept it.

I don't really want a speedier team. I just want a team with a good balance of defense and power. Granted, good defense will come with speed for the outfield positions usually. We play is US cellular. We need power hitters to win. We won with power, pitching, and defense. in 2005. I really do like the direction kenny has taken us though. We have improved our defense greatly with the Rios acquisition. We will have power hitters in the future with Flowers and Quentin. We have have a good amount of guys with decent power too (Alexei, Beckham, Rios). I hope we sign somebody like Randy Winn in the offseason to play RF or LF. With the great pitching we have, Being solid on defense will really help.

He is better than Quentin and Dye offensively and defensively this season. He would also solve next years corner OF problem. Quentin, Rios, Swisher would be pretty good.

I kind of wish we still had swish. Not sure how our financial situation would be, but he is a good player. He just had 1 off year. Aside from last season, he has been putting up .850 OPS years for the past 4 seasons.

He can't stay off the DL. i would rather not have him.

just turned it on. now i see thornton and pena are warming up in the pen. often time ozzie or coop like to warm up pitchers that wont even pitch in the game. not really sure what the point of it is.

id be somewhat surprised if they come in. i bet you will see thornton warming up in the pen pretty soon.

I keep seeing people say this. Is there some huge difference between playing RF and LF that I don't know about? I thought the main difference was getting reads on the ball and having the arm strength to gun it to 3rd and home. Carlos has a good enough arm for RF and has played RF well before.

In the two years he played RF in arizona, he put up a UZR of 4.4 and 4.7. It was during a limited amount of games, but enough games to determine that he is a decent RF.

If I say Tim Lincecum is the worst pitcher in the majors, does it mean I know nothing about baseball, or I just share a different opinion than everybody else? The guy said Jim Thome is a cancer. He either knows jack s*** about baseball or he is a troll.

Read basically all his scouting reports. He has a great slider. Freddy relies more on location now that he has lost velocity on his pitches. I'm not sure how you can say he has better stuff than Hudson just because you haven't seen Hudson pitch.
