  1. Putnam has one of the best sinkers in the game. Keep him, trade Duke.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) Get Putnam out there now for the scouts. I think Toronto is looking for relief help. Why are you so anxious to get rid of Putnam? Not going to get a lot for him, why not keep him?
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Any chance Pittsburgh would trade their competitive balance pick in return for Ramirez? I'd take that deal for the White Sox in a heartbeat. Those picks are released today. Pitt's substitute infielder of the day yesterday was hitless. They'll start hitting the panic button pretty soon. Doesn't mean they will pursue either Alexi or Gordo, but we can hope.
  4. If the Sox brass thinks Saladino is the answer at short, and that won't be determined at least through spring training next year, then you will start seeing Anderson getting time at third base next year (and maybe yet this year).
  5. The 8th Wonder of the World is now John Danks.
  6. Why is Adolfo on everybody's Top Ten?
  7. All of this Arenado talk is silly. Not going anywhere. Still an interesting set of circumstances. This is an example of perhaps bringing him up too early in his rookie year (2013). Regardless, he is up for arbitration next year and his agent is Scott (Let me turn you over) Boras. He is going to get a major contract out of the Rockies and the Rox will not trade Tulo. I really think they want to trade Cargo for pitching. Plus they have other cost controlled options in the outfield. Cargo will be available, I am sort of certain.

Abreu started swinging at pitches outside the strike zone. Bad idea. He hit a couple ball hard last night (Tuesday). He's probably wondering why he picked the White Sox.
  9. Meanwhile, Aaron Nola pitching for Phillie and looking very good.
  10. Rodon, don't walk anyone.
  11. And, another solid outing by Matt Cooper. Something like 92 K's in 67 innings in 2014-15.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Isn't this just following the same path Johnson's always taken? Go to one level and do solid, not great. Repeat the level and dominate. Offensively, he has little left to prove in AAA. Absolutely true about Micah. He had to adjust to both AA and AAA. Maybe even High A, can't remember. Bodes well for 2016.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) He also was said to make some adjustments and start buying into what the org was saying pretty recently (based upon Wil's interview with Bautista). I'd say that the arrows are pointed up with Adams and that is a good thing, given how highly everyone thought of him in the off-season. Who do you think is the better prospect, Danish or Adams?
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) i hope you can give me some latitude here and don't look upon what i am about to write as being a jerk. this is the problem in general. if one just looks at the stats and use that as the end of all discussion as a final piece of a discussion, then that is a mistake. however in this state of development, maybe this is the perfect time to say, he finally got it. so which is it?? people who are way smarter than i will need to figure this out, and i guess that would be employed in the sox org. I don't think so.
  15. It's too it has to end this way, because Alexi has had a pretty good career with Sox, but if he is still here next year, there will be more complaining about him, because he will probably be worse, not better in 2016.
  16. I hear that Rick and Kenny just left for a 2 week vacation together.
  17. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) Pirates may have just lost their shortstop. I don't imagine Alexei'd bring back a whole lot more than salary relief. I saw that injury. I was thinking Beckham; either one.
  18. I think you're right. Conor was brought up his first year in Pro Ball, so he had to be optioned every year after that.
  19. Still don't see why they didn't option him to Charlotte... Not that they need him or anything like that, but you never know. They have the space on the 40 man.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) i am a little confuse on Saladino and his hitting. in the past, in the minors, he really was an inconsistent hitter. last yr being the only yr he hit over 300+. this yr in the minors, he was hitting 250+. now he is hitting 300+/-. so what kind of hitting can i expect to see if the continues to stay up??? .281.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:42 PM) Danks and Sale and pray for hail Copywrite it.
  22. I still don't get how Danks can clearly out-pitch Shark.
  23. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:50 PM) Good games from Trayce Thompson & Jason Coats in Charlotte, I've been really impressed with Coats throughout his time with us. He's never dominated a league but he's never "failed" in a league either. I know he doesn't have amazing tools but I could see him having a Jeff Conine-type ceiling. Jeff Conine was a stud hitter for 2-3 years. Slight exaggeration. Edit: I should have said 12-13 years. Conine was a terrific major leaguer.

As long as this thread is talking about trading Q for an outfielder, why not Q for Cargo? I would rather have Cargo than that head case from LA.
  25. I thought I would revive this thread. I keep hearing that Rockies really want to trade Cargo for pitching. Cargo has been hot lately, getting his average up to the .250 range after a real slow start, which was caused by minor knee surgery last year. He has looked very good the last 2-3 weeks. Rumors are from non-media sources. Just sayin'.
