  1. Yanks picked a shortstop Kyle Holder with compensation pick from the Robertson signing. # 30.
  2. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 08:13 PM) Ashe Russell is lucky his last name isn't Hole Funny. Maybe he'll change it.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) But he's performing significantly better than when the Sox traded FOR Jackson; the Sox gave up their 2 top pitching prospects for Jackson. Sox under Williams didn't exactly cut value-laden deals. I just want some hitters in here; don't care what position really except we don't need 1B. We will in 2018 when Abreu opts out.
  4. Is it a 99.9999 % chance that he will sign?
  5. Sox have not said a word about Benitendi, so that's who I predict.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) After giving up what they gave up there are only 3 options with Shark. 1. Sign him to an extension. 2. Give him a QO, let him walk, and collect a 2016 1st rounder. 3. Trade him at the deadline and acquire young talent. There is no scenario in which it is acceptable to not offer a QO and let him leave without getting anything. If Sox give him a QO, he'll probably take it. Trade him to the Cubs for Addison Russell.
  7. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Here's a potential problem. What if Samardzija accepts the qualifying offer? That could happen..
  8. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) He is on the AZL roster, right now he's in extended spring training. Apparently he was the talk of instructs for the Sox, so lets see what kind of season he has but we have to remember that he is just 18. Sox web site revised their top 30 prospects, removing Rodon. Micker is now #5.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) Was is Veeck that said "I'd rather trade a player one year early than one year late"? Walter O'Malley.
  10. He wasn't necessarily advocating trading all three pitchers, or even two of them.
  11. Jennings was still the best of 3 Sox pitchers Tuesday night.
  12. Not to change the subject, but speaking of trades not made last off season, does anyone know how close did Sox came to making a deal with Dodgers involving Alexi? I vaguely remember posters talking about LA rookie outfielder Joc Pederson. Did Sox have a chance of getting this kid? He's the best looking outfield prospect since Mike Trout. Now, if we had a chance at Pederson and turned it down, then a head or two should roll.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 31, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) They're separate situations. 2012 was an assumption on past dealings. 2015 is the FO and all credible sources saying the exact same thing. If the Sox take someone other than a college pitcher I would guess a SS fell unexpectedly. They're not taking a HS hitter and this a garbage class (as a whole as well) for college bats. Those rumors were accurate according to what I have from a source in the industry. The Sox wanted nothing to do with Kolek. He was designated an "open-open" guy which is a certain qualm that deters the Sox from drafting any pitcher of the like. The problem with the draft last year was that no one, including the White Sox, knew what Miami was going to do. You had the hardest throwing high schooler of all time and a Cuban from Miami who was the best college pitching prospect since David Price. So you have Kolek, someone who is a very typical pick for the Marlins being a high ceiling high schooler and Rodon who was both a great prospect and a great fit for the team and city. The Sox knew Aiken was going #1. Rodon was their guy. He was the guy they wanted ever since it was understood they were going to lose 90+ games in 2013. Apparently the draft room was ecstatic, as were all of us, when Miami took Kolek. If Miami took Rodon, the Sox would have taken Nola and signed him underslot. This is what I was told and it was very close to what was being reported last June. Nola is the Number 2 prospect for Phils, having solid year in AA.
  14. Another good game from pitcher Devon Davis.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 30, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) I'm pretty sure the Sox won't be giving up a 2016 1st rounder to sign a QO Free Agent. Scratch big impact bat with QO attached off of the list. Sox #1 pick in 2016 will be protected.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 30, 2015 -> 05:37 PM) Really think it is DFA time for him it is just not working out. You're correct. Bad signing. Doesn't add much speed, if any. He probably couldn't make our AAA club in Charlotte. No sense in keeping him past June 30 or so.

You can replace the DH with a guy from the bench.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 2m2 minutes ago #WhiteSox confirm that Dan Black has been released from his contract to pursue opportunities in Asia. Black was arguably the best hitter in Sox minor league system. Not the best prospect, but the guy could hit. So, he leaves mid-season and goes to Korea. Korea?? And the Sox (Hahn) said what? Sayonaro? Is there any story here worth reporting?
  19. Anybody know if Scott Boras is the agent to be for any of the top picks?
  20. Gordo at $2mm per is still one of the ten worst contracts in MLB.
  21. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ May 28, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Yes those 2 will get a larger return but it's also what teams are willing to give up to get them. The Phillies don't have to trade Hamels and they are trying to hold a kings ransom for him. Cueto could net alot but seeing how the reds will also lose leake they might be more inclined to try to keep cueto. Some of the other top pitchers that are free agents are on teams that are competing so they won't get dealt and others aren't pitching as well. The sox should get at least a teams top 10 prospect back for shark. Probably not a 1-5 but 6-10 could be doable. Just last June the A's gave up a #1 prospect to Cubs -- Addison Russell.
  22. LDF, I think the comment was said/written with tongue in cheek.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 19, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) A Giants fan in L.A. and a Yankees fan in Boston or vice versa is in more danger than Sox on Sox chippiness. But yes I have also been harassed although in stadium not to the point of being followed and harassed. It was during a Sox/Dodgers game with my 2 children ,who were visiting from Arizona (their home with their mother) and my father (visiting from Chicago) a very rare occurrence that all 4 of us were in the same place together. So odd that just rooting for your team in a foreign stadium and wearing the colors can provoke people to harass a man with his children and their grandfather. Young men can be so irrational. Nothing major happened thankfully but what should 've been an enjoyable time ended up pissing me off . Man, that's an awful story, but oh so believable. That's where that unfortunate dude got maimed because he wore a Giants hat. I hope your kids came through it okay.

    Sophomore jinx? Or worse?
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2015 -> 06:49 PM) So was anyone other than me listening to Steve Stone's commentary on why the Blue Jays' efforts to "bring in" a team have failed, how you need to develop a team from the inside, how you need to have your catcher or your shortstop be the smartest guy on the team, use that to drive the development of starting pitching, and then fill in some gaps around that and think... "This sounds like Stone criticizing the White Sox in another form" ? Stone always wanted to be GM.
