  1. Until he got hurt, I thought the bad routes might have been caused by his playing CF quite a bit. I wasn't that concerned. But the injury does show that the feet first slide is a lot safer. The injury reminded me of Quentin's injury in RF when he played for Sox. Identical format.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) This is filler for Charlotte, nothing more. So why can't they promote Josh Richmond from B'ham and call him filler. He is hitting around .350. Or even Trayce. Makes no sense. Chalk it up to Organizational Morale. Sometimes I think that baseball decision makers don't have the sense that God gave a Goose.
  3. Sox could have promoted one of the outfielders at Birmingham. Instead we pay for an outfielder from KC org who is hitting .231. I don't get it.
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) Good hit but bad base running. Like the aggressiveness tho Aggressive, or just ill-advised? Make sure the RF throws home before you try advancing. A bone head base running play, IMO. Hope he learns from it.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) Hawk talking about card games from 50 years ago. Just awesome. I just learned that a good hearts player will turn into a good coach.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 05:00 PM) Can anyone explain why the Rockies brought in Boone Logan with two out and no one on in a game that was over? I feel like Weiss was sending a message there... No message. They just activated Logan, and this was his first action.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 02:03 PM) This Blackmon kid looks like the real deal. Such a pretty swing...Helton-esque. Although almost every lefty but Dunn can look picturesque. Good job by Semien taking the throw on the 3B side and getting it across the bag without losing it or hurrying too much. Everything T-Flow is doing, for now, is coming up roses. Agreed. I have been saying same thing for a couple of years now. Sox could have gotten him for just about anybody who can pitch a little bit, especially when Rox had Fowler. Now, that ship has sailed.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) I also like that Viciedo is in the line up. I still think he's part of the core and only 25. On the other hand, still have to play De Aza to get his trade value at its highest De aza's trade value will be minimal, at best.
  9. Just saw that Sox big bats not only knocked Wil Lopez out of the game yesterday, but he was sent down to AAA today, inf Rutledge brought up. Would not be surprised to see him in the lineup today, especially if Tulo is hurting.

Hawkins must like playing LF better than CF.
  11. What are the terms of Paulino's contract?

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:17 PM) Amazing how bad Mitchell Boggs is now. Mr. Hahn is probably saying the same thing about both Boggs and Paulino.
  13. Rockies just sent down a young outfielder -- Dickerson. I wish Sox could get him. Kid can hit.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) This board loved Paulino....for reasons unknown to anyone. Uh, not everyone. I saw him pitch in 2011 when the Rockies cut him. He was terrible, and I believe I commented that way. Same with Mitchell Boggs, except I saw him last year.
  15. The Colorado feed on the baseball package refers to Paulino's pitches as "batting practice fastballs".
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) I was talking about Avi Sorry; I thought Paulino was the subject, who, by the way, will probably be left in for 4-5 innings to rest the 12 man bullpen. Avi has got to get it together soon, I hope.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) If he looks like this for over a month, then you have to send him down. Wrong. You release him.
  18. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) Looks like he's the bigger, stronger kid brother, and a switch hitter to boot. We'll need some of that. First baseman, I believe.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Thanks, that looks like a good place to take the wife. She'll love it. Make a reservation. Maiter 'd's (spelling?) name is Mario.
  20. I always thought they should have built a domed, state of the art stadium near Soldier Field. City owned plenty of land there. Could have been done. It would have been great for the city.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) I'll be at the Weds. game. What's the restaurant across the Oxford oldy? Venice Restaurant. 17th St and Wynkoop.
  22. oldsox replied to SnB's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Stay downtown, even if the hotels are a bit pricier. Try the Oxford Hotel. Best restaurant in town is right across the street from it, and the stadium is 3 blocks away.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 09:04 AM) I do wonder if the Sox are safe from relocation. Just based on-- what happens after Reinsdorf dies? And isn't the stadium deal only through 2029? Will the Cell be obsolete in 15 years? Who would be the next owner/chairman? Hypothetical Question (obviously)-- If you were offered the option of the White Sox and Cubs being contracted (both franchises don't exist anymore), and the Rays relocated to Chicago and moved into a new retractable roof stadium that they paid for, and Chicago became a one baseball team city---would you take that offer? Contraction will never come close to being a reality as long as there is a player's union. Oakland to San Jose should have already happened. Tampa to just about anywhere would be an improvement.
  24. Mitchell Boggs imploded for Charlotte, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Has the size of the strike zone gotten bigger this year? It sure seems like it. In addition to the four Sox games to date, I have watched parts of many others, and I think the strike zone grew over the winter.
