8/19 Gamethread SOX vs. Orioles - 7:10pm CDT - CSN+
Beckham did look bad there, really overmatched, bad swings, late on everything. After he gets non-tendered, I bet he won't get a big league contract offer from anyone, probably signing a minor league deal.

AAP: Tyler Saladino
What's the rehab time for an infielder with TJS?

Lindstrom back off of DL
At best, they figured to be adequate set up men. At least Jones. The jury is still out on whether or not Jones would be okay in closer's role. He was so-so in 2013 as a set up guy. Lindstrom never had a chance to be effective in closer role. Bullpen should be better next year.

Alejandro De Aza
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 02:30 PM) Neither De Aza or Wilkins will be DH'ing next year. That one I would bet on. It's kind of tough to predict who will be DHing next year, when we don't know the make up of the 2015 roster. Actually, I was responding to an earlier post by Chitown. Hopefully, Wilkins will be on the roster in two weeks, and we can evaluate him at end of September. Still, at this time, I would pick Wilkins over de Aza as a DH in 2015, if that is the frame of reference outlined by Chitown.

Dylan Axelrod traded to Reds.
Pitched well. 6 innings, 2 runs, 2 home runs.

Alejandro De Aza
If you are talking DH next year and it's between a $5 MM deal with de Aza or $500k with Wilkins, I vote for Wilkins; plus, he can spell Abreu when necessary. Outfielders will be available.

Chris Beck interview - Taking Questions
Does he have any insight that he could discuss about EJ and his pitching problems this year?

8/12 Games
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 07:07 PM) Next year's going to be simply huge for Hawkins, Anderson, Montas and Danish at Birmingham. AA is what really starts to separate the pretenders and contenders. Hopefully May or Barnum can emerge in the same way that Ravelo has this season. Ravelo didn't really emerge this year. He's been a pretty good hitter ever since we drafted him.

Andy Wilkins
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) So then don't have him catch. Start playing him in the outfield. Given the Sox pitching and catching numbers over the past month or so, it's not like Flowers is doing a great job right now anyways. Are you being serious, or humorous? anyway.

Lindstrom back off of DL
He is well rested.

Konerko's Farewell Tour
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) No. Uribe's throw was perfect. Head high on the money. Saw your link. As I said, perfect throw. For almost 9 years now I thought PK dug it out of the dirt. Thanks.

Konerko's Farewell Tour
don't think so. not important now.

Konerko's Farewell Tour
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) Great post. But I can. I will never utter a bad word about Paul Konerko, even if he is slow as an ox, he is and was an amazing White Sox baseball player. I'll never forget his effortless scoops on defense at first and his turning on pitches. WOW. one of which was the last out in the 2005 WS, scooping up a low throw from Uribe. Routine.

Konerko's Farewell Tour
Plus, it was the owner's decision. I'm good with it. If anything, I wish he would have been used more this year.

8/10 Games
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) Sox drafted 23rd. Angels 24th. So 23 other teams made mistakes too. Not exactly the same mistake; Sox only team to draft Mitchell instead of Trout. Some of the other 22 teams probably drafted a pretty good baseball player; Sox got a football player. Just meaningless hindsight blabber now. Mitchell looked pretty good for a year or two. It would be interesting to see those first round picks if you have the link. Was Mitchell a surprise pick that year? Can't remember.

8/10 Games
QUOTE (Timmy U @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) I understand that it is totally foolish, but I haven't 100% given up on Mitchell yet. He is striking out less. If he puts the ball in play, he has a chance of being a DeAza type with better defense. Still not worth drafting ahead of Trout, but not a release candidate right now IMHO. really?

8/8 Games
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 12:19 AM) Micker 3-5 with 2 doubles. Atta boy. He might be the real deal. He had a tough start, something like 1 for his first 10. Hope he plays every game from here on.

Jacob Turner acquired by Cubs
Even Olbermann of ESPN mentioned Turner last night, making him sound like the second coming.

Sox were close to 3 way deal
QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 07:01 PM) He's a free agent after next season, the Braves may not be interested in paying him. Who knows. Heyward?? A bit overrated/overpaid.. I would rather continue rolling the dice with Avi.

FutureSox Top 25 Prospects List - Midseason
On the subject of minor league defense, there are some factors that contribute to bad defensive stats: 1. Young players whose skills are improving 2. Minor league coaches. 3. Minor league infields. 4. And lastly, minor league official scorers.

FutureSox Top 25 Prospects List - Midseason
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 06:33 PM) Where did you have Hawkins after the year he had last year? Hawkins has rebounded a little bit this year. This is Davidson's first bad year in 6 minor league seasons and a brief MLB stint. You're right about Hawkins. He has rebounded a little bit, as you said. He's hitting around .250, not as many strikeouts, decent extra base hit numbers, good speed, -- he has improved. It'll be interesting to see how he handles AA next year. I don't know what that has to do with my placing Davidson in the bottom half of the top 25. But you said it -- 6, count 'em 6 seasons in pro ball. That's a lot of experience to have this bad of a year. It's not out of the question to see both Davidson and Ravelo as teammates next year at Charlotte. Who do you think will have better numbers? I say Ravelo, who is younger and a better prospect IMO.

FutureSox Top 25 Prospects List - Midseason
Pretty good rankings right down the line -- except for one guy. Davidson. I just don't understand why he is ranked so high after the year he had, like it doesn't count. I can see somewhere in the bottom half of the top 25, but not #7.

Prospect Tiers - Position Players
QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) You are way, way, way too low on Marcus Semien. A year ago I would have agreed with you. I think he is pegged correctly.

Game Thread- Rangers @ Sox 1:10 PM CT
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 01:57 PM) That's just silly. The manager should not be able to stall the umpire until his dugout gives him answer. Once you go out there, it's a challenge. That would be a good rule change.
