Yanks want Danks?
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 10:51 PM) I'm not surprised. Jerry has shown plenty of times in the past that he's not afraid to open his wallet. Patience Sox fans. ........Signing Dunn, Rios, and Peavy.

Return for Dunn
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) Any contender that wants Dunn will not be a contender much longer after acquiring him. He'll be a Sox the remainder of the season IMO. As someone else said, it's 99.9999% certain.

7/4 Games
Speaking of first basemen, Ty Williams had 3 errors and 2 K's.

A thought on Jared Mitchell
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 06:41 AM) The most important point in Jake's post is that we promoted a guy to AAA after striking out 31% of the time in AA. If that doesn't give Hahn enough merit to fire Buddy Bell I don't know what else does. Hawk won't allow it.

Hawkins to DL
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) Justin Morneau was the most feared hitter in the AL? MVP one year. "Most feared" is probably a slight exaggeration

White Sox sign 4 on July 2 signing day
Why is the Int'l signing age set so low? Most are just 17. you know what I mean. Teams are throwing money around as if they have their own printing presses to kids still in high school, assuming they go to school at all. For most, they won't even be ready for low Rookie League for at least two years.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 07:43 PM) What is the rush for either side? He's barely going to pitch this year anyways. anyway. Is Aiken 99.99 % like Rodon?

Mariners trade partners?
If his level of play stays about the same through rest of this season, I think he will be back here in 2015. Dunn, PK, and de Aza most likely will be gone,,,,,who's going to beat him out for a roster spot?

Houston Astros' Internal Trade Talks
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) I'd be shocked if Garcia ever hit 30 HR's. He's strong enough but he'd need to revamp his entire swing. There's a reason the Tigers gave him up for a slick fielding/no bat SS. He's a Groundball hitter that relies on speed and has a body type that's going to make him struggle with weight. As others have noted, he's an awful defender too. I'd move him in a second. Geez, the kid hit over .370 at two AAA spots last year and hit over .300 with Sox. I think that justifies giving him at least one full year before hitting the Sell Avisail Button, even if he only hits 15 Homers a year.

2014 Minor League catch all thread
It might be an uncomplicated answer, like Sox having too many young catchers on the three low minors teams who are ranked ahead of Ayala. The writing was prob on the wall last year when he played about once a week at Bristol in his second pro year.

Why can't Dayan hit at home?
The problem is caused by women.

I just found a current roster for the AZL team, and Sammy Ayala was not on it. Was he cut?

2014 White Sox draft pick thread
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 12:55 AM) Speaking of 1st RD picks. All by 7 have signed for far. All but 2 in the top 10 (Rodon and Hoffman). Of the guys who've signed, Schwarber is tearing up his league right now. Nick Gordon is off to a decent start. Alex Jackson has been bad in his week of play, and Aaron Nola has gotten lit up in his 1 start, not even making it out of the 3rd inning. Everyone's favorite catcher Jakson Reetz is 0 for 6 with 4 Ks in his brief start in Rookie ball. You're right. Schwarber hitting over .500 with 8 homers in two leagues.

2014 White Sox draft pick thread
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 12:46 AM) Uh, he signed like on Day 2. For $6.5M, which saved Houston something like $1.5M. They should have lost their minds with glee. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/2014-draft...ent_id=79082538 You're right, my bad, sorry. I went to the Astro's Home Page and it says 'unsigned'.

I wonder what the Astro message boards/media are saying about Aiken not yet signing?

I thought Tank's shot would hit the roof.

Closer? 'We don't really have one'
I think Conor at 2B would have struggled with the final out that GB made fairly routinely, with the tying run about to score. The ball is going to keep finding him in clutch situations, so he has to get over it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 08:37 PM) Not trying to flame, just a question. If Robin left him in, do we lose that game? No doubt about it, yes.

Bella's ERA up to 5.79. I have no idea what it is if you only include his closing appearances.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 06:32 PM) Yea, Garcia is totally the guy you want getting the most ABs. It's little things like this with Robin that add up. Just move Beckham up FFS and bat Garcia 9th. Or, you KNOW DE AZA IS HOT TRY HIM. It's like the conventional, silly manager thing to do, would be to play the hot hand, small sample size wizard De Aza at leadoff. (which I'm fine with, try and capture some lightning in a bottle). But instead he goes the Jim Leyland route and puts him leadoff, batting where the guy he replaced does. You're right about Leyland doing that; I never agreed with that logic. I remember years ago when he was manager of the Rockies (for one year), Larry Walker in his prime was dinged up for a day and Leyland decided to rest him and replace with with somebody hitting a buck eighty. Naturally. Leyland batted the guy third, and the Press roasted him.

Who do you most want to keep after the Core 4?
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Kinda like the Shields trade? That was pretty far-fetched until it actually happened too. The return the Cubs got for a half of a season of Garza? That was out there as well. The most far-out deal is the rumored package that the Cubs are attempting to acquire from the Jays for Samardjzia. Given Q's ability and contract, he should pull in a similar deal. What have the Jays offered for Samardjzia?
