After my above post, I did some research. Name is Matt Harrington, 7th overall pick in 2000, offered $5mm (higher than Josh Hamilton received), turned it down, Next year drafted by San Diego in second round, offered $2.1 (Boros was now his agent). He was drafted three more times, never signed, a record. Now there is the story for Hahn and JR to tell his parents.

Year 3 saw him get drafted in a lower round, and they turned it down. Then, he gets hurt, never played organized ball. Greed is not always good.

Too much weight lifting causes injuries. So does sliding head first all the time. Unnecessary diving in outfield causes injuries.

It was a great pitching performance. He threw strikes and his pitches had all kinds of movement. I hope he stays in the bigs for several years and does it with the White Sox. A lot of White Sox fans will remember this game for a long time.

I always liked Reed, too. I always thought they could have gotten a lot more for him. What we'll never know is if Hahn actually shopped Reed to the rest of MLB to see what he could have gotten for him, or if Hahn actually thought Davidson was the answer as soon as Ariz offered him up for Reed.

What about Scott Carroll -- Is his promotion called off?
