  1. Good article on Sox Web Page about Trayce. That thumb injury from last year really hurt his progress. He might be a candidate for AFL this year. Link: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...;vkey=news_milb
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 06:39 AM) Danks has just 3 strikeouts in his last ten games (32 AB) with 4 walks and a 900+ OPS It's difficult to predict rosters in 2012, but Danks has a good chance of making Sox roster. Pierre figures to be gone, Lillibridge ????, Danks can play CF and seems to be improving and will be verry cheap.
  3. W-S relief pitcher Taylor Thompson has performed well since being drafted in 2009.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) Is it me or does it seem like the Rangers are always looking to add every good player, no matter what their organizational needs are? I mean, they could use a reliever, but I feel like it's like "Oh Rangers add Napoli AND Yorvit Torrealba AND Beltre to push Young to full-time DH..." and "Oh yeah Rangers also in on all the starters even though they have one of the lowest starter ERAs in the league" and "ALso Rangers in on Beltran despite having Hamilton and Cruz in the corners and the third highest CF WAR in the majors, not to mention three guys fighting for the DH slot." Right. Other teams want to have a 28 man roster, we have to make do with 23.
  5. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) Was Kenny selling veteran starters for middle relievers and prospects back then? This is true, although the '97 Indians weren't really all that great in the regular season either. Their rotation was bad (gave up 815 runs) and was anchored by injury-prone dinosaurs like Orel Herscheiser and Charlie Nagy. They caught lightning in a bottle with Jaret Wright and Chad Ogea in the playoffs and came within one inning of winning the WS. Just goes to show that you don't need a bulletproof team to win in the playoffs. Manny and Thome were RBI machines. Alomar and Omar....Lofton....It was men against boys.

  7. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) Seems like Peters hit similar to Rios. Peters ran out ground balls.
  8. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) I wonder how much salary we'd have to eat. 150%.
  9. I saw Ryan Kussmaul had another good inning for W-S. This kid has great stats, just wondered if anyone here has more info on him...
  10. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) Kevan Smith moved to Great Falls Will someone please tell me why Smith going from Bristol to G Falls is a big deal?
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) Viciedo, Reed, and...Thompson? No one here is going to agree with Sox web page of top prospects, but... Viciedo Escobar Infante Stewart Short Mitchell Flowers Phegley Reed Petricka
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Gilbert is going to Winston-Salem with Pangilinan taking his spot in Kanny. The Intimidators put it on twitter, but it's not official on either roster. Someone from Winston-Salem is going to Birmingham. Is Gilbert ready to be moved up to W-S?
  13. I just saw on the Sox web site that Zach Stewart is our #4 prospect.
  14. I've blasted Kenny as much as anyone, but this move is okay by me. It might actually look very insignificant in two years, but we at least save some money now. Who knows, it might turn out to be one of his better trades without much risk.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) I asked this the other day, but got no answer... what is the biggest contract anyone has just given up on as an organization? Someone answered... Russ Ortiz, D-Backs.
  16. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) one person mentions colby rasmus and all of the sudden the entire board, most which had little to no idea who Rasmus even WAS goes apes***, lol group think mob mentality here at Soxtalk Does that include you??
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) What Aramis and his agent would be looking at is this offseason's free agent market, the thirdbase options consist of Aramis Ramirez and Aramis Ramirez. It's bone dry. And with him being one of 5 3B with an .800+ OPS this season, 3 with an .850+ and 3 with a .360+ wOBA. He's the only option on the free agent market at a position that's seen a precipitous -- if not anomalistic -- drop in offensive production this season. Aramis doesn't strike me as the kind of player willing to bet on himself by taking good guaranteed cash up front and putting off free agency another year risking a down season and a poor return in free agency as opposed to going for the multi-year deal in a weak market. I could see him getting $30M fairly easily, all it takes is one team and that team is typically out there year in and year out. ......anomolistic?
  18. Sox had good crowd last night. Maybe a repeat with Verlander throwing?
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) So K-dub has a week to trade Viciedo. Where do you guys think he ends up? I'm just as worried that he'll trade Addison Reed.
  20. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) It sounds like the crowd is booing Adam mid-AB on both strikes he took. I don't boo him myself but I understand why many people do after he gets out. But booing mid-AB is just beyond ridiculous. That's hating just to hate. I know the whole "he's a big-leaguer, he should be stronger than being affected by the crowd" but this is getting ridiculous. Let the guy play - he's here for the long haul so why go out of your way to boo him? I outgrew booing when I was about 10.
  21. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) the renowned triangle theory that seems to always pop up in Boxing, lol Pops up in other sports, too. e.g. Years ago, when I followed the NBA, there were three really good point guards in the West: Gary Payton, Nick van Exel, and John Stockton. Van Exel would eat up Stockton, Stockton would dominate Payton, and Payton would chew up Van Exel. It went on for 2-3 yrs, never could understand it.
  22. Does his contract expire this year?
  23. QUOTE (prospectguy @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) Just a quick preview if you want to check it out. http://detroitbaseballpage.com/tiger-headl...ite-sox-preview Read the rest of that blogger for reports on Detroit farm system and their predicted trade of Rios, Short, Morel and Quentin for Soriono, Fukedome and Aramis R.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) Everybody on that Pirates staff is having a good year one way or another. It's about time too. That organization's luck has finally turned around. Clint Hurdle is a lot of good things.
