  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) With our terrible farm system? Not a prayer. We have no one that compares to Kelly or Rizzo. Dayan compares better to Rizzo. Rizzo took more walks at AA at the same age, but Viciedo hit almost .20 points higher in his first season in American ball. Kelly has potential, but he was nothing spectacular in AA. Sale beats Kelly easily in my opinion.
  2. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) And you base that on what exactly? Further, I could give rat's ass how much they would be in the hole (if that were true, which I doubt). If they can't afford to run a major league team in this city, they have no business owning one. Do you think the fans in New York, Boston and LA care about that? Why should we? Because having a team in debt would be bad. And it's different for the Sox then compared to the Yankees or Red Sox, because the Cubs happen to also play in this city and absorb most of the city's fanbase. And if they were in the red, which being at a $180M payroll certainly would have them in red, then we'd basically mortgage our future and have to become what the Cubs are; a poor team due to big contracts with high ticket prices to pay those off.
  3. Wow. Jed Hoyer giving Boston a discount much? I gotta believe if we had wanted AGon, we could have matched that, even with our awful system.
  4. QUOTE (VAfan @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) It is obvious the Sox are trying to sign Konerko, now that Dunn is in hand. And I think that's a fine choice, unless Konerko is looking for a 4 year deal. Two years with an option would be ideal. Perhaps 3 years would be the compromise solution. But I wonder if the Sox would be better off with Jayson Werth instead of Konerko. I love Paulie, but from a pure baseball perspective, what would be better? Werth would give us a plus right fielder. His offense has improved each of the last 4 years. He's 31 instead of 34, which means we'd be getting years with the potential for upside, and much less potential for a slide. Konerko has had injury issues in the past, and is slow as molasses. Werth can actually steal a base, and almost never gets caught. With Werth in RF, Dunn would play 1B, and Quentin would DH. That make it easier to keep him healthy. He could play LF occasionally. What I don't know is how much Werth is demanding. He made only $7.5 mill last year, so he'll surely want a big raise. But if he came at the same price as Paulie, which would make for a better team? (Who would back up 1B? Teahan could, as could Viciedo.) Werth would be in RF, Dunn at DH, and Viciedo would be 1B. Quentin won't be on this team if we get a right fielder.
  5. I am so amped. Now resign PK already!
  6. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) +1. This ^. Today was about Konerko more than a lot of fans realize.... I went from deflated about the Dunn signing to elated when I read PK reports.
  7. I'm happy as long as PK comes back.
  8. http://movies.ign.com/articles/113/1137651p1.html Apparently, Uncharted will be a family movie. The hell?!
  9. I miss Laundry Baby Pimp (sister-in-law's nickname for him). He's one of my favorite non-Sox now.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 06:28 AM) Lebrons shoulder bump of Spoelstra was really mature As was the players only meeting where he no doubt ripped Spoelstra.
  11. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) ugh Mark Wahlberg? Wasnt he already max payne? Has the director ever played a second of the Uncharted series before? I always saw Drake as Gerard Butler sans the accent. I just would have went with Nolan North (since you know, he's the most familiar with the story, the voice, and the face). I think Wahlberg will do well, but only if he plays the damn games, which isn't what he did with Max Payne.
  12. QUOTE (onedude @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) dunno if you've heard, but the director of the movie supposedly wants Mark Wahlberg to be Nathan Drake.....and somehow wants to write parts for DeNiro and Pesci as a father/uncle combo. sounds like a joke but it isn't. Father/uncle? I know DeNiro is being considered for Sully, no one knows Pesci's role yet. Also, Wahlberg confirmed on IGN that he is Drake.
  13. And that kids, is how Scott Boras was banned from being an MLB Agent. /hope
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) Gotta trade them when their value is the highest . For Curtis Granderson!
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) Ok, just picked up Uncharted 2 for $36 and free shipping on ebay. On a roll today. I just popped it back in today because I haven't had my Naughty Dog fix in awhile. Need...Jak...4.
  16. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 26, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) Lillibridge clearly leads the White Sox in sense of humor https://twitter.com/#!/BSLillibridge/st...087719364268032 Baahahhahahahahahahahahaha. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 26, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) Everyone knows CQ shoots his State Farm commercials during the offseason. Peavy does commercials for the federal post service.
  17. Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose are monsters.
  18. Yes, lets trade the best SS in the AL to overpay the worst defensive one.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) A bit of an exaggeration, obviously....but there was a good percentage that was in favor of dealing Paulie in 08' or 09', myself included. I'd say it was 80%. Hell, we were willing to deal him for Brandon Wood (in some hope we could flip him for AGon of course)
  20. What could have been the year just went down in flames.
