  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) Guillen was hired by chairman Reinsdorf. Williams needed a spy. If by "Hired by chairman Reinsdorf" you mean "Hired by Kenny Williams", since the GM, you know, does hires. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Again, don't understand the Cowley hatred. Would you prefer him not to report what Guillen thinks of Cooper or Williams? He is a poor journalist. He editorializes (slight pass as a columnist), he tells a one-sided story, has told one story for a year now (despite the fact that he is no longer the writer for just the Sox), he mocks the local fan base, makes s*** up for a story, and has been banned from the White Sox front office and suspended from the BBWAA for a reason. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) I think it's news that Guillen went on record about his feeling about Cooper. I'd rather know information from one side than get no information at all. I think I'm intelligent enough to understand Guillen has an agenda and can take that into account when reading about this. Was it news then when Oney aired Bobby's dirty laundry? Yes. Did it need to be editorialized? No. And you may be intelligent enough to realize Ozzie has an agenda when you read and/or write these stories, but a lot of people taken written word as gospel, due to the "believe none of what you hear, half of what you read" saying.
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:29 AM) Two things: 1.) If Guillen was so concerned with his coaches he should have brought Cox and Walker with him to Miami. 2.) Coop being called out as a rat seems to be deserved. 1) Yes! 2) Then can I call Ozzie a chihuahua (all bark and no bite), Harold a panda, and Herm a penguin? QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) Make your own judgement about working with a rat . . . Coop is Kenny's eyes and ears in that clubhouse. Ok, I will. The rat who circumvented his boss to demand and extension...got fired. The guy who went to his boss and asked for one is still here. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) Now it makes sense why Coop wasn't given serious consideration for the manager's job. Kenny didn't have a spy to take his place. Or maybe because he's a brilliant pitching coach? QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) It would be beneficial to everyone involved if you put some thought into your posts. Cooper got a 4-year deal, Ventura got a 3-year deal. It would be beneficial to everyone involved if you put some thought into your posts. Cooper, Baines, and all the non Cora/Cox/Walker coaches got fired. Ozzie quit. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) And you think that Cooper being a snitch is why? :lolhitting :lolhitting No legitimate back up info!
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) 9,000 comments better than this one? “Since last year, this was about integrity, it was about loyalty, it was about do they want me here. Let me say it my way: The Sox were saying, ‘Yes, we want to f--- you, but we don’t want to marry you.’ ’’ I doubt that. Of course you do, you think Ozzie is an infallible god. Also, the joke appeared to go over your head. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Again, don't understand the Cowley hatred. Would you prefer him not to report what Guillen thinks of Cooper or Williams? Probably because he's a hack journalist who has recycled the same story for over a year now. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) Here's the thing...everyone knows that KW and Ozzie disliked each other. However, if Cowley wants to investigate the 2011 White Sox, I'd rather know about what issues haunted Dunn, etc. Was it due to Dunn's work ethic? Eating fried chicken and drinking beer between innings? No one cares anymore about the Ozzie/KW dynamic. That story died the second Venutra was hired and Theo to the Cubs gained steam. ...real journalism? QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) Cowley's reports are one-sided, but KW and Jerry won't talk to him, so hey, he gets to fire away with one side of the story. I can't believe people aren't a bit concerned about Coop after it was alleged he was a rat and snitch. Who's gonna want to pitch for him if that's true? Who's going to want to play for a loudmouth jackass who quits on his team, a confirmed rat, won't work unless he has more money coming his way, has a barely above .500 record, elevates himself above the players, can't develop young players, puts players in a position to fail, and wants the entire f***ing spotlight on him 24-f***ing-7?
  4. Classiest managing staff ever assembled. I could see Thome working, but I'd have him behind Laker and ahead of Thomas. I think they could all do the job.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 02:04 AM) Couple things. 1.) I wish I could go on a 16-day vacation right now. Ah to be rich like Ozzie. 2.) Coop may be a rat. Should get interesting to see if anybody else supports Ozzie on this. Nobody likes a suck up rat and in Ozzie's opinion Coop is a rat. Hmmmm. That last quote from Ozzie may be the best quote in sports history. There are over 9000 quotes better.
  6. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) It's called vacation. To the Dominican Republic?
  7. When Ozzie no longer has a mic in his face or Cowley a job.
  8. Shocking, Cowley wrote another Ozzie article.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) Presumably Ventura will take KW up on his offer to not play Rios because that was such an obvious move to the Oz haters. You just won't give up, will you?
  10. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) He wasn't fired he quit.....and he hasn't been beloved in a few years other than in his own mind BUT HE WAS FUNNY
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) Video: Cutler’s Unkind Message For Martz I approve
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Stupid Kenny Williams, whoring himself out to the media...
  13. What the f*** is Cafardo on? Buehrle is number 3 in that rotation.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 08:37 AM) What did Legendary Jerry provide? Im just curious Ozzie Guillen. May be a good or bad thing. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 10:01 AM) The farm system was at its best when Kenny was over there. Hopefully this helps. For being such a prospect trading heavy/barren farm system GM, Kenny was a really, really good minor league director.
  15. QUOTE (Greyone @ Oct 16, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) I am so tired of this same old spiel from you, you should just move on from it. A lot of other people seem to have. Kenny will get his as there are many who want him gone, time and time again a bunch of folks have pointed this out to you. Kenny is not loved on this board, and many want him gone. It is apparent that JR will not get rid of him at this point in time so there is no reason to keep up that same old song and dance about him. It harder to build a team than manage it. People will no doubt come with torches a blazing when the season is over. You do realize that games are still being played right now. The World Series hasn't even begun, Kenny hasn't even made a decision yet with the team other than the Ventura signing. Yeah, Oz gave him a huge head start. What venom, the board didn't make the decision, JR did. We don't have a single say in what goes on with the team. Kenny didn't win jack, do you truly think he is happy sitting at home and not still playing games. Btw, I've been a long long long time lurker, really love the actual baseball talk and White Sox banter that goes on around here (from time to time). Basically just signed up to ignore a few folks. When you lurk you have to read everything that folks say, or just skim a bunch. It really became laughable to read some people. I told myself I'd never join a sports board just because of the amount of silliness that some folks say but I just couldn't take it anymore. So I hope to be a good member here, I probably won't post a bunch on a regular basis, but maybe I'll add my two pennies from time to time. =) Larry. It was a damn good post.

  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Ozzie Guillen, 2003: "Obviously you want to make money in your job, but this job is not about money. It’s about winning." "I'm always honest"
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 05:52 PM) This This Seriously, I want to know. Lindsay seemed OK and didn't Septimo have some (albeit not a whole lot) potential?
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 01:36 AM) Funny how he's out of a job yet Cowley still has one. Ugh...
  20. Wait, why are we just dropping Septimo and Lindsay?
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Or, more likely, he'll thrive with a higher percentage of money than his direct divisional competition. Say what you will about their cash, but they could never spend close to what the Yankees have... outspending the Cards, Brewers, Pirates, and Astros ain't no thang for the Cubs. If the Trib still owned them, I'd agree. Now, I'm not sure.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 09:53 AM) I dunno, top 5? He might be top 10 if he's lucky. I believe all of these guys throw with their left hands: Jon Lester, Ricky Romero, Cole Hamels, C.J. Wilson, Derek Holland, Gio Gonzalez, C.C. Sabathia, Cliff Lee, and Clayton Kershaw. Interestingly enough, when Kenny asked for Holland for Thornton, Daniels would have if Danks was involved. A deal with the rangers of Holland + Spects for Danks/Thornton?
