Ubaldo Jimenez headed to Cleveland
This is the Trade Deadline of the overpay. Don't tell me we couldn't get a complete haul for Quentin, Crain, Frasor, Ohman, Thornton, Floyd, and Danks.

It was a nice try Alexei, it was a real nice try.

7/30- Red Sox vs White Sox
Quentin - Thornton - Floyd to Red Sox. Ohman - Danks to Yankees. Crain and Frasor to some other team. Or throw them and 30-40% of Rios's salary together to some team. It's sickening watching this, even though Beckham just made a sweet ass play.

7/30- Red Sox vs White Sox
QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Don't you think this is a little ridiculous? Even Mark Buehrle, a notorious innings eater, hasn't gone 230 innings since 2005. Verlander's only done it once, as well. 200 is a better standard. It was sarcasm FlySox...

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) Give me Reddick, Iglesias OR Ranaudo, and Vazquez. If they want Thornton too, I want both Iglesias and Ranaudo. Give me Ranaudo, Reddick, and Lavarnway (send them Flowers). Also, send me something to drug Theo to make it happen.

Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:53 AM) Well, maybe it's more feasible than would appear at first glance. Remember, McLouth will be a free agent at the end of the season, and the Braves would have to spend almost as much in exercising the 2012 option for $10.65 Million, as the $12 million owed Rios next year. In the meantime, the Braves would have their defensive replacement for McClouth while he's on the DL. When he comes back they could platoon him with Rios. Next year, their outfield could be pretty good with Heyward, Rios and Quentin. With the offensive production from the corners, they could get buy with Rios is CF. Hey, if they want Quentin, make them pay. Take Rios' contract and give us one really good pitching prospect. Otherwise, go ahead and pursue Coco Crisp. I don't see how that would make the Braves competitive in the N. L East, do you? Quentin is an impact bat, and that is what they need. I respectfully disagree with the comparisons to Hunter Pence in this thread. Hunter Pence is no Carlos Quentin. When TCQ is healthy, he is a 40 HR hitter and a big run producer. And Hunter Pence plays good D, better OBP, better average, and is good for around 25 HR and 80 RBI. The big problem being Q's health. If he were consistently healthy, we'd get whatever we want for him.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:34 AM) Lillibridge hitting .276 instead of .176 over the last 30 games would be MUCH more awesome. And you'd like a MUCH bigger target for Ramirez and whoever's playing 3B to throw at. Hopefully he's practicing catching Alexei at 1B. Can't say I disagree with this.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 06:02 PM) scottmerkin Scott Merkin In a team-first, veteran move, Rios declined comment about his reduced playing time. "I would just rather keep it quiet," Rios said Better than I expected. Maybe this kick in the ass will motivate him. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) ChiTribRogers Phil Rogers Interesting early work at U.S. Cellular: Brent Lillibridge working w/coaches at first base. Start your trade rumors now. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) Meh. If Dunn is DHing & Konerko is playing 1b, this way you can bring in a pinch runner for PK, & Lilli can stay in the game and play 1b. Teahen was the 3rd 1st basemen. Phil Rogers with some outstanding journalism once again. God Phil Rogers is a dumbass. More versatile Lilli is awesome.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) I am sure I am going to take heat from Dick Allen on this, but isn't it a strike against Walker regarding the development of Beckham and Morel? I mean, BOTH of those guys came up hitting the ball with authority before Walk had a chance to get inside their head. Now, they are punchless Judy's. Little b*tches. At least Morel showed some pop last year. Now he is swinging defensively on 2-0 counts where it appears he's just looking to make contact. Nice job coach. I know I am going to get the "wait, Beckham sucked his first 2 weeks before Walker fixed him" in the AL during his rookie campaign. Please, we're all smarter than that aren't we? Every rookie struggles a bit out of the gate. You throw the first 2-3 weeks out as it's just "getting acclimated" time. Morel showed pop last year, and now he's a little bedwetter who's looking for mommy at the end of the night. Let's call it what it is. I really want Frank as the hitting coach. "Brent! Gordon! The f*** you doing?" "Looking overpowered and scared." "f*** that. Take this old, rusty pipe and stare down the pitcher like he owes you money."

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) I love this guy. I still can't believe he predicted the Adam Dunn suckfest. So did my brother. But he also said Hudson would be nothing because he had a rough start, there is no "overpay" when prospects are involved, and E-Jax was an outstanding pickup. Also, he believes Ozzie is an amazing manager. So, what Balta said.
