I think if you get 3 but you're set on Garland, try to trade back. As for last year's draft - I think Barrett gets taken at 9 to the Knicks over Knox and Culver would go at 10 to the Sixers. But last year was also a stacked draft.

I feel like Barrett and Culver could still be key pieces of a jumbo lineup, but it's way, WAY riskier than Zion or Ja.

I have to imagine their draft board is: Adley > Witt > Abrams > Vaughn Still hoping the O's and Royals outsmart themselves.

I'm not a big Andrew Vaughn fan, but you're making me one. Vaughn is 5'11, not 5'5. He's also been graded as a solid defender, so who knows, maybe he has a good standing reach. In addition to this, he's not fat like you keep implying in threads, but has a strong build, kind of like Jim Thome. Unless you think Jim Thome is some sort of chunker. Moving on from his body, he's not a one tool player. His hit tool is what has skyrocketed him up the draft charts and it pairs with his tremendous raw power. Combine that with the ability to field his position, his only flaw is he's slow. Considering you keep bringing Abrams and Vaughn's weight up, I feel this is your issue. Regarding Derek Jeter, he also really liked Gordon Beckham. But we can let that slide, he wasn't running a team yet. What about when he is running a team? He traded Christian Yelich for Lewis Brinson, Isan Díaz, Monte Harrison, and Jordan Yamamoto. Giancarlo Stanton for Starlin Castro, Jorge Guzman, Jose Devers. A left-handed, true outcome catcher with defensive question marks, good size. In college, his walks and strikeouts were fairly even. Grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 55 | Run: 30 | Arm: 45 | Field: 40 | Overall: 55 Now, Vaughn. A right-handed, advanced hit tool, undersized first baseman who fields his position well. Walks far more than he strikes out. Has ungodly OBP. Hit: 60 | Power: 60 | Run: 30 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 60 Similarities: Slow runners, raw power, can draw walks. Differences: Positions, handedness, fielding capabilities, hitting abilities, strikeout rates, level of raw power, OBP (Vaughn's is absurd). Let's add Burger in. A right-handed third baseman, was named Gold Glover in his final college season. Pre-injury had decent enough speed for his size. Tatis is a true shortstop, while we've already seen discussion about how Abrams might not stick at short. That sounds more Johnson than Tatis. So we've got a speed burner that might not stick at his position. Edit: If I were drafting, I might take Abrams over Vaughn, but that's because the Sox are in dire need of some non-1B/DH talent in addition to a "next wave" of prospects and I'd stupidly draft for need.
