  1. If you're trying for a 3B from the Reds, go for India. You'd actually be able to do a prospect swap instead of what Senzel would cost
  2. I just hate the Harper - Cubs narrative and hype, even if it doesn't come to fruition.
  3. Add those four and Eloy and they better damn win the division.
  4. I would also greatly like this, but unless this is Machado's contingent on signing with the Yankees, I' not seeing it.
  5. Oof, watch the speed typing there man. I spent six years of my life in Missouri, my brother also went there. Two things stand out in my memory: 1) Opening Day in 2004, Miguel Olivo hit a home run. While walking on the concourse one of their fans saw me and exclaimed "Holy shit a kid at one of our games! Can't get our own damn kids out here, but good for you guys." 2) Living there on my own from 2011-2017, there were magically a lot more fans once the latter half of 2014 hit. They stuck around for a year. Then suddenly they were gone again. Since 2000, the Royals have finished in the following place in the AL 14th: 1 time 13th: 6 times 12th: 4 times 11th: 4 times 10th: 1 time 8th: 1 time 6th: 2 times In that same time frame, the Sox: 13th: 3 times 12th: 3 times 10th: 2 times 9th: 3 times 8th: 1 time 7th: 3 times 6th: 1 time 5th: 2 ties 3rd: 1 time So to recoup, since 2000: 1) I also lived it, their fans were miserable outside of the WS seasons. 2) The Royals consistently drew worse, having never drawn as high as the Sox highest, and the Sox never drawing as low as the Royals lowest.
  6. To be fair, only two posters have a Royals obsession.
  7. Sign Macharper! But actually, maybe sign Pomeranz as a flip and that's about it.
  8. Eh, don't let Rubio off the hook. Clearly what Abreu, Puig and others went through is nothing.
  9. Something I just learned: The Sox drafted him in 2008 https://www.cbs19news.com/sports/headlines/19617739.html
  10. So, this tweet and the fact that the rumor mill is now churning out Machado --> Yankees, Harper --> Cubs has gotten me thinking: Does baseball need a tougher luxury tax? Right now, here's the penalties: I think baseball should look at it's penalties for other areas - such as the international market and comp picks. If a team exceeds the luxury tax, I think they could incur the following penalties in addition to the luxury tax payments. - No draft picks may be signed for an amount exceeding $300,000 in the following draft (this is akin to the international cap punishment that the Sox suffer for signing Robert) - Loss of highest draft pick for every $5M over the tax. - FA signings are capped at $10M/2YR the following off-season. Now, I know if these were all done together it might be too much, but I think any one of these penalties tacked on might start making teams think twice. I think they'd be completely reasonable if they're only put in place for repeat offenders / a reasonable amount over the tax threshold.
  11. Well, Harper to Cubs and Machado to Yankees would be just about the worst.
  12. For the most part, no. Now that we've both provided strong, empirical arguments, let SoxTalk decide.
  13. RE-OPEN THE SPECULATION FELLAS. I just want Mr. Bones Wild Ride to end.
